Proximity to Copacabana favelas depends on the apartment location, (i.e. streets perpendicular to the beach.) There are four favelas in Copacabana. The largest is Pavão-Pavãozinho, near Posto 5. The others are (1.) Morro dos Cabritos on the hill beyond the western terminus of Rua Santa Clara, (2.) Chapéu Mangueira west of Leme and (3.) Babilônia, high on the hill above Leme at east end of Copacabana. Look up the apartment address on Google Maps and you can see the location relative to the favelas.

Hi Guys,
I am going to Rio for the first time and I will be staying in Copa. I have found a very nice 2 bedroom apartment for 15 days at about $2500 over the new year period. Only thing is that its about 5 blocks from the beach and in the heart of Copa (as per the adverts description)
Having never been to Rio or Brazil before, I have been told that the further away from the coastline you are the more issues there may be with regards to safety. Would an apartment that far from the beach in Copa place it closer to the favellas? I know Rio is huge but I am just not sure if 5 blocks into Copa would be a great place to stay.
I would rather pay a little more as a newbie now if need be
Thanks in advance

But to post info like 'I get great deals from a supplier' then not posting the details of that supplier does nothing for anybody.
So how do I get this info from you about the company you recomend when you cannot pm me?

You seem to be an active participant here.

You know when I was a kid I had to agree with everyone but see now Im' a man and I form my own opinion and find resolve in my decisions. Its ok that I don't agree with many on you thats what makes he world great. Many of you just fall rite in line with the common place of getting ripped off while I'll slide in a get my 20% discount by searching and negociating.
And only children find joy in name calling. come on now were all suppose to be adult.
Moreover, the reason y I posted the conversation here was solely to inform. If anyone cares to look at the original post I said look at how customers are treated and not to use them. I assumed that my fellow Mongerers don't like abuse and liked to get a deal. I was wrong for some you.
Thanks to those that agree with me and blessings to those that do not.
