    DocBill449,

I suggest you check out bahia-online for some suggestions.

I myself had a few (rainy) days in Salvador with some mates who weren't all that interested mongering (but were looking for amateur action) some 4 years ago.

We did not find good value in Pelorinho. I stayed at the Hotel Pelourinho one night (which none of us liked )- air-conditioning was pathetic and windowless room too stuffy and overpriced for what it was.

We then stayed at what appeared to be a 'short-time' hotel on street across the square from the Lacerda Elevator. I think the name of the establishment was Hotel Ilheus.

I got my own room for about $10 or $15 US. It was not the sort of digs I would usually accept. However the staff were friendly and I actually ended up enjoying my time there.

At night I met some amateurs, one of whom spoke English, she appeared to be in her late a 40's and rated about a 1, but when we finally got into some night spot about a block from the Hotel Ilheus, she introduced me to one of her friends who was about 2o yrs of age and a 6. I ended up with the 6 while my mates ended up with nothing (Like me, were not at all interested in the 1). The 6 apparantly lived outside town and didn't normally come into Pelorinho. I think she was more an opportunist on the night rather than a regular working girl.

The cost for the night was $100 Real. I noticed most of the other guys (mainly Germans and Brazilians) who stayed at this establishment had their girl from the previous night with them at the breakfast table next morning.
I remember that the tv in my room had a pirate porn channel at night but the 6 would not even contemplate looking at it.

Ok, guys, I've looked at Blameitonrio.com, Ipanema.com, yahoo.com and this forum and I still can't find specific hotel recommendations in Salvadore. In a city this size, what's up with that? I'm sorry for asking again but I'm at a loss, so please forgive my repetitive questions. I can pay up to 80 or 90 per night. I don't know whether it is best to stay in Pelhourino or in another area. I would greatly appreciate some guidance and experience here. Thanks so much!

P.S. Lonely Planet was no help either - no descriptions or prices.

My apologies to Rodriguinho. I went a little too far on my criticism of his statements.

Yah, thanks JWadd! I'm assuming the "tourist area" (Pelhourinho) is the best place to stay, as opposed to somewhere on the beach? Is this where the best night-life is too? What is the "boite area" and where is it? Thanks!!!

    DocBill449:

Almost any hotel in the "tourist area" will be less than 40 dollars. The Lonely Planet guide will no doubt direct you to this high, central, square. I totally agree with its advice (IMHO). Therefore, hotel-pricing questions are really moot. As far as I know, there're no high-end options in this tourist area.

There're a lot of independents in this area (Pelhourinho). There's some petty crime here, too -- so keep a watch-out. I say this because this area and it's environs offer a potential for mugging escapades about ten-fold over hobby areas in Rio and S.P. No big deal -- stay awake and you'll be fine.

The two clubs I mentioned are on the exterior, beach-side of Salvador. Not much fun to stay in, and I don't recommend it (due to boredom that will ensue due to location). So, "quick-time" hotels are my recommendation when hobbying in-and-around the "boite" area (also a good amount of independent SWs here, too). They are plentiful and extremely cheap in this area (+/- 10 U.S.).

Have fun, stay on-the-cheap in Pelhourinho, and bring those girls who leave you unsatisfied (because you couldn't exhaust their young, fine, body in one session) back to whatever cheap-ish hotel you decide to stay in, in Pelhourinho.

In other words: Relax! Have fun! Go to the beach! See the old slave-history/afro-culture things you want! Remember Euro-American progress and shed a tear for the evils of racism! AND FUCK LIKE A BANSHEE!! It's that simple in Salvador.

    Enough said?,

That's racist, and if you refuse to see that fact, then you're part of the problem.

No one ever goes to Moscow and then says that the girls are ugly because they're white. No one ever goes to Taipei and then says that the girls are ugly because they're Asian. If someone doesn't like black women, then they should go to "white" countries only, and post in those forums. We don't want to read their shit. This is the Brazil forum, not the Racist forum.
I just found out that I created a thread of hate posts because of one of my posts. First let me say that Im the least racist guy in the world I'm hispanic not white and I just happen to prefer Loiras. I think that You have to relax Rio D I never meant to say that the girls in Salva were ugly because they´re black I meant to say that they are ugly because they are UGLY (the majority) and happenend to be 90% black. I'm sure 90% of the black guys in ythe Us wouldn´t fuck Whoopi Goldberg, well wost prostitutes in salva looked like that IMHO. I went to Salvador for Carnaval and had a blast with non-pro's mainly but I didnt like tha pro scene. You may like it but you don´t have to take it personally if somebody doesn't. I guess that there´s so much racism in the USA that some people look, dissect and try to find racism in any comment related to race. Luckily, I'm not that way I dont have all tha PC bullshit in my brain and I just make honest comments.

Sorry to waste everybody's time with this b*llshit, but I am an anti-fascist ***** monger and for me the worst insult is to be called a racist.

And Please no more replies on this subject and let´s concentrate on hobbying.

Anybody knows the "Pousada Villa Fiorita" in Jardim das Margaridas? Is it guest friendly?
    Thanks in advance.

    Doc,

Sorry to contradict you curry but I had a bad experience going online for an apt. I got a total shithole, I´ll post the address if I find it. I would recoomend instead getting to a hotel in Barra (Praiamar R$100) and stay one or 2 days and then look for one personally

I'll be in Salvadore for my first time for four days in September. Can anybody recommend a good hotel in the under-US$75 range? Are the hotels generally girl-friendly? Also, what beaches should I be sure to visit/hang out at there? Thanks!!!

Salvador is an easy city to manuver in. As often stated many people of African decsent. Go online and get an apartment if you stay for 5 days or more. Any less time a hotel will work. Sorrry I dont have the name of any but many are listed online as well.
A good place to meet girls is Pehlirinio Square. Most of these girls ae working at night. Taxis cost little to nothing. I stayed in Barra. During my trip. It was by the beach and many women are there to. Casquinah de Seri has many people on tuesday. Prety girls who like to dance and a pretty good variety. No J los or Halle Berry typesw. But some work and Some Just want to go home with you after a drink and some food. DO NOT GO FOR THE PROGRAM GIRLS. Be direct and you can figure it out after about 5 minutes or less. Prtuguse is a must. If your Spanish is god You can meet them halfway in conversation and some actually do Speak Spanish. English is spoken by NONE. Understand This and you should be okay.

Totally agree with you Jwadd, the SWs I saw were the ugliest and the clubs were almost worse, I think SP is the best for mongering in terms of quantity and quality

Salvador is a cool city. As a tourist you'd be kept busy n.p. for 3 days. Those clubs I mentioned will serve adequately enough, I guess.

    Happy Hunting,

And if getting laid were not the SOLE purpose of my travels, would you still recommend only two days in a citywith the size and culture of Salvadore? Any other opinions?

    Thanks JWadd!

Hunt down my old post on Salvador. Hotels are a no-brainer -- something in Pelhourinho (sp?). There're all about the same. The sex scene in Salvador (to me) was the worst I've scene in Brasil for a city of that size. BAD. If you're into the tourist thingy -- give Salvador 3 days. If not, and just want to see it, 2 days.

    My opinion,

Well, if I can try to shift gears here, I am going to Brazil for my first time next month, and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good length of time to spend in Salvadore. I was told four or five days. Too much? Not enough? There's good information here about the mongering scene there, but not much on hotels. Any recommendations?

    Thanks!!!
