You guys seem to be quoting rather high hotel prices. During my stay in Salvador in late 2001 I only payed 15 R a night (even though the regular price was 20 R). The name of the hotel was "Hotel São Jose" and lies on avenida sept do setembro, in other words, right in the centre of the city, a short walk away from Pelourinho and close to a shopping centre.

As for the women, yeah, they do seem to prefer black men, but if you play your game right, just being a Westener can get you a far way; the trick is to go around in the street shops in centro and barroquinha and pick up the attendants.

Okay . I really want the truth about Salvador. It is advertised as being this cultural center for black people . How true is it ? I heard some black guys talking about it and they basically said that the women, and not only bahiana, exhibited a preference for black men. This is not the first time I've heard this. I know it has been discussed time and time again but I wish to get a definitive answer. I am going there in June and I hope the scenre is good but I do not want to waste my time. From my experiece with women in other countries (or even this one for that matter), the only major color women care about is green.

I was 2 times in Salvador...and I must say the scene changes very fast. The second time I was there there were a lot of low quality girls on the street. Beside it can get quite dangerous away from the tourist center Pelourinho. Places around the 3 mentioned boates on the road to Itapua are saver
I went to Salvador to get one of those tall black Bahian girls, but this time the street was bad..

The price of R$450 for the stay in the hotel is really cheap.
You only need to do a mathematic division to calculate the price
in US$ : 450/3' 8 = 118 US DOLLARS. A bargain!!!
I hope you can to enjoy with your trip to Salvador.I know Rio
but I think that Salvador can to be also a exciting place
to pick up girls.

Yes, it is for the whole stay. To me that price sounded too good to be true.

Real would be great, but during Carneval that is a bit too cheap, isn't it? Do they really mean US$? I can't really ask them, because then they will obviously say it's US$....

Any advice on what R$ is would be greatly appreciated, because I have to reserve my room soon!

Yeah dude(man). Casquina de Siri is right on the beach. There is a bunch of restaurants in that area. Nice place and the live music is pretty good. When I went there, I already had female company. I had no idea there was some "action" going on in there. Personally, for me there is no better place in Salvador to pick up girls than the Iguatemi malls. Just go there, talk to the girl(s), and in no time at all you got yourself a girl friend. J.G.

Spent a couple of days in Salvador. I had intended to hit a variety of places looking for a companion. I had meant to spend some time at the boates but my first taxi driver suggested Casquinha De Siri (and I was not dissappointed). This place is like a combination open air bar, restaurant, and showplace. The food was not bad, the drinks were not outrageously priced, and the show was quite good. You do pay a cover charge (which varied from 7.50 to 15 reais per person). The place is a little far away from the downtown Salvador area (maybe like a 20 reais cab fare). Remember Salvador is a city of like 2 million people and is spread around many nice beaches.

Since I had intended to sample all that Salvador had to offer, once I got to Casquinha de Siri; I changed my mind. Why bother, anything you could possible want was available at this place. After about 1100 PM, all kinds of garotas come out and the place turns into a sort of singles bar. Of course, the garotas will want some financial compensation after. The funny thing about this place is that there are obviously professional women in the establishment but at the same time, couples are there enjoying the show. Typically Brasilian in flavor.

Anyway, shacked up with a Bahiana the first night. Nothing spectacular. The second and third nights, I hooked up with Bruna (from Belem), who is a good-looking petite blonde. Since I always try to help out the girls and to steer hobbyist to good garotas, her phone number is 91384238. If you hook up with her, tell her David from Bolivia send his regards.

Last Friday night. Went to Casquinha De Siri. Had plans to go to Free Night afterwards, but never got there.

Casquinha De Siri is on the beach, it’s a really big Open-Air restaurant, with an area to dance, there is also a live band. However after 11:00 PM, it’s just really a giant bar, with live music, and dancing. Lot’s of girls were there. I’m not a pro on the Salvador scene. But most of them seemed to me to be more less freelancers, or amateurs.

I took a Mulata back to a sex hotel. I think the hotel was called Maxims. About five minutes away. I paid 20 US for the room which was for three hours. I had a great BBBJ, Sex, massage, then we slept for an hour before I had to get back to work. I tipped her 150 Real, and she seemed surprised. I could of gotten away with paying her 100 Real I think, but oh well.

Salvador has a good, cheap scene. There's an active street presence, two adequate boites (sex-clubs), a working-girl restaurant and a low-end "locals only" boite.

The two high-end boites are "Liberty Night Club" and "Free Night." Both are close to each other and about a 20 min. cab ride from the city's historic center (Pelourinho -- not sure I spelled that right).

Free Night is the better of the two. It hosts about 50 girls, many cute, all asking somewhere between 150-200 reals. There's a 20 reals entry fee, and a 20 real exit fee if you leave with a girl. Drinks are normally priced.

Liberty is just down the road. It's about as expensive but nowhere as good. About 20 average to below average girls.

Neither club has facilities, so you must leave and go to any of the nearby sex motels.

The "working-girl" restaurant is "Casquinha de Siri", somewhat nearby the two boites a little further down the road. It's o.k. if you get there early enough. Most of the good looking girls seem to pair up quickly.

There're also a lot of non-working women here, so make sure you're game is good before you dive in. The pros seem to sit near the entrance, and (of course) make eye-contact with you.

The locals-only boite is near centro. It's name is "Tche." Dark, big, drunk and dirty. Not too safe of an area. Not many good looking women. Didn't talk to anyone so can't report prices. Go at your own risk.

The historic center, Pelourinho, has many free-lancers walking around. Orient yourself from Praca do Se (main square), and, looking downhill, most of the descending side-streets will have girls walking around that are available for sex.

There're probably more free-lance scenes -- like in and around many of the good beaches here. I couldn't find them, though (but I didn't look that hard.)

The main street scene for whiter women (if that matters to you) seems to be the large street that runs behind the Free Night and Liberty boites. The girls here uniformly asked for 50 reals/hour. Some were cute -- most not. Area seemed safe enough. Also try the beachfront up a little and between Free Night and Liberty.
