Decided to check out the cheap saunas on R. Augusta yesterday (Saturday) From Moema, I took a bus on Av Ipirapuera to the Metro station Vila Mariana and then took the subway to Jardins = $R4.10 total. I have not been here in Sao Paulo for a couple of months now (last time - April). Since I arrived this past Tuesday after a week in Rio, I can clearly say that one has to work harder and spend more money for a good time than in Rio. I visited with JWadd last April when he stayed here which was part of the Accor Hotels chain. It was a super location, two blocks from Love Story and walking distance to Nestor Pestana clubs like Kilt and Cocktail.

I kept on trying to book a room there for this trip but never could on the accorhotels website. I decided to call them directly. Turns out they are now under Atlantica Hotels banner. Prices are about $R125 per night for a double. I am pretty sure that remain girl-friendly. You can earn points towards airline frequent flyer miles (Varig smiles) and hotel stays part of the Comfort Inn chain in Brazil and the US.

Since I am part of the Compliments frequent stay program with Accor I decided to book a room at a Parthenon in Moema. The Privilege Flat which is 5 block from Shopping Ibirapuera. The biggest problem staying here is there are hardly any late night conveniences like pharmacies, places to eat around every corner like in Jardins or Centro. A 24 hour Pao de Azucar is 6/7 blocks away.

Around the main drag - Av Ibirapuera there are a lot of affordable Brazilian chain hotels also Sonestra, The Bristol Ibirapuera, Blue Tree, Melia, etc.

I think during the day I can walk to some of the massage parlours nearby!
