Avoid driving to Rio, buses are cheap and much safer since i've heard the road is in a terrible shape. Many fatal accidients occur there.

Angra is a touristic/colonial city. with a yatch club and condominium out of town where rich spend the week ends and as such you will not find a good sceene for pros there, except a few chances with tourists and even then only about til the end of feb, as school starts in march.

Maybe you will get lucky with a local, but be carefull as always there could be a jealous boyfriend/family member in the wings, smaller cities are much more likely to have these problems, since everyone knows everyone and word gets around fast and morals and customs may be much stricter than in bigger cities.

Local atractions include some islands where the rich and famous hang out, cachaca, which is very potent and good diving sites, ahh and forgot to merntion the aging nuclear plants, stay clear of them as they may be leaking some radioactivity, one never knows about them, since they were already antiqauted when purchased and instaled.

Sao Paulo is not that far away, but much more difficult to reach from angra.

A few experiences to report on Santos, Brazil's main port. The first is the changes time has wrought on the city. Its a lot more crowded than I remember it - as its an island, all they can do is pack more people in the same space.

Many years ago nightlife was concentrated round the main port entrance, known to many, many English-speaking seamen as Hell Fire Corner. Times change, though and Hell Fire Corner, and the Cafe that stood there for decades (the Chave de Ouro), is gone. There are still one or two bars in the area, but it is a shadow of its former self.
Street trade seems to have moved to the old part of town, not far from the port area, in the area round Rua Senador Fiejo and R San Francisco. Lots of small houses with girls sitting on the stairs. All looking a bit spaced out and not my scene anymore.

A VERY useful site for researching Brazil generally, and even Santos, is www.gpguia.net. This is a very active site, and I picked up a couple of recommendations. These were, in order: -

Visited two boates and two local incall locations.

The boates are New Fantasy located on the edge of town and Baton Rouge. Baton Rouge is located close to the river and has a second location several km’s NE of town towards Batatais.

New Fantasy has a website and features “Playboy” type entertainment from visiting porn stars. There website is www. newfantasy. com/br. The minimum consumption is R$50. Beer is R$13, drinks for the ladies run R$25, the rooms are R$50 and the deed is R$200 for an hour.

I went on a Thursday night and it was slow. There were only 3 other guys and about 35 ladies from 5 to 9. It was tough to be friendly and still play the field, but I managed. Baton Rouge in town was set up very similar to New Fantasy. Friday night was not very crowded. Most fellas seem to come during the week and not on the weekend according to Camila. Arrived at 10 PM, along with several ladies. Minimum consumption here too is R$50. Ladies drinks were R$25 and mine was $10. Room was R$75 and the tip was up to the lady. Unfortunately, it seems everyone missed the best of Maceio (IMO). The place to go is Aquarella, on a Sunday night. It's located in the vicinity of the Lampiao forro club, a few streets off the beach. All the taxi drivers know it. It's a bar with live music (samba pagode). 6 reals to get in, 2 reals for a can of Brahma, loads of girls. I leftwith one who wanted 100 Reals for the whole night. Aquarella is where you want to go in Maceio. Don't know about other nights, I gathered Sunday is the night.

To update the previous reports: Cocktails. Had a nice girl there, very affectionate, but the place is a rip off. We agree for 150, next thing the guy is handing me a bill for 500 reals, and he's got the price of the girl at 350; I told him we agreed on 150, he changes it, but then we're haggling about service charges, blah blah blah. Got out of there paying 280 reals. Condisdering they had only 10 girls, and most of them not so great, and the hassle, and the fact that here in Alagoas everything is cheap, it was rip off. For 300 reals, Bomboa in Sao Paulo, lots of great girls, lots of drinks included in the entrance fee, this place just didn't cut it.

I wouldn't say it was totally horrible, in fact I spent an hour with a very nice girl from Pernambuco, but there were only about ten girls on hand and just a couple I liked. Arena Dance. Mostly young, the rich of Maceio. Do people use the word "preppy" anymore? That's how I'd characterize it, went on a Saturday, no action.

Forro Lampiao. It's on Jatiuca beach, after Ponta Verde. Great forro music. There are a few girls available, mostly they hang out on the sidewalk in front, but a few inside too. Seems any night is good.

Beaches. Frankly, the best way to meet girls in these parts is to go to the beach. The semi-pros will hook up with you in no time. You would probably have better luck around Jatuica, then Ponta Verde. Pajucara is kind of dead at night.

Maceio is worth a visit. I stayed at Praia Bonita hotel for 55 reals a night. There aren't a lot of hotels on the beach, most of them are a block or two off the beach. Still, Pajucara is kind of dead at night. Oh yeah! The streetwalkers. They do indeed start around where the Praia Bonita is located. The beach road ends as you get to the port. That's where most of the girls hang out, there and in the streets right around there. 30 reals for 2 hours was the price one girl quoted. Not the best looking in general, but they seemed to have a good attitude. Didn't partake, though.

But by far the best action is Aquarella on Sunday night. If you come to Maceio, that's where you want to go.

A while ago somebody was looking for information on Santos. Here's my little contribution (for some reason the search function isn't working for me so I apologise if there's any duplication).

I went to Santos a couple of years ago, to board a ship in the docks. Being a port, especially a Brazilian port, the place was absolutely full of ladies for sale. In front of the dock gates was a bar with a large red flashing neon heart-shape over the frontage; and all the way back into the city, the streets behind were full of ladies standing in the doorways. Not too appealing to me, but each to his own. In the streets in the centre of the city, guys dealt out flyers with details of night clubs and boites.

The ship's crew and myself were new to the town and we did the sensible thing on our first night and asked the receptionists at our fairly scummy hotel where we could find some action. Very late and armed with a list of addresses including, it transpired, said heart-shape bar, we set off into a very wet night and arrived at what looked like a private house. After consulting a passer-by, we knocked at the gate and were let in.

The place turned out to be a take-away brothel, which wasn't quite what the seamen were looking for, but they sold beer and we settled in to watch the parade of girls the owner whistled up for us. Our host explained that this was an establishment where he would present us with ladies, whom we could choose to take away with us, on payment of a 90 US dollar fee.

At first there were only two girls present, both young and cute, but not really my type. Then the girls that the owner had managed to round up trooped in. The crew were getting quite insistent about going somewhere else and I was having to explain to the host that we had made a mistake in coming here and then I saw Rosa.

She was magnificent, a tall, full-bodied, dark-skinned beauty with a mass of curly black hair. I exchanged a few words with her and decided then and there to take her with me to the hotel. The crew by this time were halfway out the door. I let them go to their taxis, saying I was tired and wanted to go back to the hotel. At the hotel the night receptionist began to quibble but took my 'room upgrade' cash when I offered it, about 20 Reals. Then, he surprised me by sending up the night porter with a towel and soap for Rosa.

Well, Rosa was well put together but not very enthusiastic compared to some of the Rio or Belem or Fortaleza girls I've known. I had a great time but I don't think she did.

Still, one shouldn't judge an entire city by just one girl (anyway, it takes two to samba properly), and Santos certainly seemed like it had a lot of potential.

Thanks for the info guys. My plans have been delayed slightly. When my employer started looking for someone to replace me, they found out people weren't wildly overjoyed about coming to Saudi Arabia. I should be in Brazil by mid September.

As a consolation prize, they did give me two weeks in Bangkok. When I get back to my office where I can use my own computer, I have a couple of pretty good stories to share with the forum.

Relax, when you get to Macae, you can be sure that all of the other expats there know exactly where all the action is. And there is a bit, although obviously not up to the quality and selection of Rio. But you can have fun.

It is, however, difficult to be anonymous in Macae, it is almost like a small town where everyone knows everyone and everything everyone is doing. So there's that to consider.

I've got a great Macae story (well, I think it's great), but it will take so long to type out, I just haven't been able to bring myself to do it.

pretty boring city but clean and organized. too damn hot, feels like las vegas in the summer. no beach, so everyone hangs out at the malls during the day. i was surprised at the huge number of fuck motels, all at great prices. food and lodging is also cheap, only gasoline is expensive at 2,28 for a liter and everyone drive very slow because almost every corner have a speed sensor. only 2 places worth visiting for pros: 69 and beth cuscuz. 69 is an average looking place with about 20 girls, some defenately were worth my 50 reais, but none did anal. one even took 40 reais, however they will only accept payment before sex which is pretty lame. i got good service from the 3 girls i got there. also theres a 20 reais exit fee. beth cuscuz is one of the best brothels in northeastern brazil, most of the women are from southern cities and it's famous for being visited by local politicians looking for pleasure. strip shows are thursday nights with an entrance fee. beware when you buy drinks for the girls, just a sminorf ice costs like 15 reais, pretty much a robbery. most girls will start asking outrageous prices like 200 reais or higher, and with alot of crying i was able to bring them down to 150. if it's a slow night you can have the girl for the whole night if she agrees. you can also get their numbers and call them in the morning for a session and pay much less. the quality of the women in this city overall was not bad, still nowhere near fortaleza. i would recommend a trip here just for a couple days because there's not much to see.

I am curently living in Macae. I am guessing that you are in the petroleum business if you are coming here to Macae.

The prostitutes in Macae are very ugly and there are no high class places (as there are in Rio) even though tons of foreigners live here. However, in Rio das Ostras (nearby town), I have heard that there a couple of upscale places to get chics.

Macae is really just a place to work and make money. Most people here just work during the week and travel out (3 hrs away) to spend the weekend.

My partner here took me to a place called 40 degrees. Its a "***** house". Had about 20 girls. I was not impressed at all by the quality of the girls. So be prepared to be making quite a few trips out of town on your days of f when you arrive here (that is if you want have fun).

But on the other hand, the regular girls here are much nicer and down to earth than the girls in Rio, and there are more wife material type of girls in Macae (i.e if you are looking for that)
