Just some general notes on Santiago.

If you're just looking for a place to monger Santiago has to be low on the list. There are some beautiful chicas around here, but in my opinion most of what is available on the street and in the clubs is mediocre at best and/or very expensive. I've been coming here for about 10 years, and now live in Las Condes and have a full-time girlfriend, so don't participate as much as I used to, but from the bit of running around I do when friends are in town it's obvious that nothing has changed over the years.

The best web site is www.relaxchile.cl - pretty much everything's there that can be found on the others. Here, as with the clubs and to some extent the street scene, many of the girls are from surrounding countries.

Unless you're into some serious sleeze stay away from anything towards Centro. The better locations tend to be in the upper end of Providencia and into Las Condes.

The most concentrated bar/club scene is on Suecia just off the corner of Providencia. Nothing much starts until after 10-11 at night. There are always a few pimps working the street asking $40,000-60,000 for a quick turn in a local room - the girls are pretty low quality. There are 2 chica-dedicated clubs - the International and the Lucas Bar. Lucas is the better of the two. I was in the International a couple of nights ago and there was nothing there that I'd want to or dare to stick my dick into. The best places are along Vitacura in Las Condes - Lucas has a place there, and the best ones are the Platinum Club and the Champagne Club. I have a friend who likes the Members Club but the one time I was there last year the girls were lousy (other than one from Paraguay behind the bar who was only there to pour drinks) and the prices were the same. Both the Platinum and the Champagne have some really nice ladies but they also know how to charge. The cover of $20,000 gives you 2 drinks. The drinks for the chicas are the typical $20,000 (might even be $25,000), and the club exit fee is $50,000. One of the ladies (very nice) that I now keep in touch with as a friend says that she normally charges $200,000 now, and that that's pretty typical. She'll stay all night and do you again in the morning. I've never been disappointed with with the chicas I've taken back to the hotel from either of these clubs, and when I could bury the cost in the expense account, no problem, but personally I won't pay that kind of price. Now I just wait until I'm in BA or Mendoza.

As for hotels, I've always preferred to stay away from the bigger American chains. As of 2 years ago when I moved into my own apartment I was using a small apart-hotel on Helvecia, just off Bosque Norte, a 5 minute walk to Suecia and a 5 minute taxi ride to the clubs on Vitacura, close to some decent restaurants. The rooms are all suites (small by North American standards, but pretty typical for here), exceptionally clean and very well maintained, the street's nice and quiet, they're chica-friendly and were always very accommodating with early morning arrivals and late night departures, something I always appreciated given the arrival and departure times of most of the North American flights. The rate runs about $US50/day+/-, depending on the length of stay (www.helvecia.com). There are also lots of small local hotels that are in the $US60-100 range in the Providencia/Bosque Norte area - search the net.

Apart Hotel in Providencia I know well as I am sitting in it right now. I presume there are no other members here in Santiago currently.

I am paying US$60 no tax cash, full apartment two baths near Los Leones Metro. The doormen are all guys and don't seem to do much more than ask if you come in here which room you are in. Nothing happening in Santiago. Had a cab driver give me the bad boys tour. Only action was in the area of 10 de Julio and Figueroa. Some ugly clubs such as Malibu, Hawaii, Afrodite, and some SW. Chicks wanted 15,000 pesos. They ranged in age from 25 to 60. Its interesting seeing a 60 year old granny dressed in tights and garter belts. Looks were a solid one-half to about a 3. I did 2 grannies together for a unique experience.........NOT!! Maybe there is something going on in other parts of town, but I am not going to waste my time looking. Mongering in Chile is worse than in the sexprison, USA.

Just to add to mikemike's piece, there is also a place called Salamandra, which is a lot like Pussycat -- same set-up, price structure, etc. I dont't know where it is, as I haven't been to this place, I have only heard it from some Santiaguino friends of mine... I'll try to get more info on it, but I'm guessing it's probably in the same area Pussycat is at -- at a galeria or mall in the Centro area of Santiago.

There's a few more other joints in the Centro/Providencia area worthy of note...

Oliver's -- Already mentioned: personally, I have had my best luck during the day here. You can find some pretty attractive chicks here at times. At night, they move the show upstairs to Venetto, which is owned by the same people. Prices there are higher, but chicas and service are not necessarily better.

Rugantino, Divas -- these clubs are really hit or miss, with Divas between the better option of the two. One good thing I find about Divas is that chicks here are definitely more laid back than in the high end places like Lukas Bar, or even Venetto -- they will shoot the shit with you for a while and not be hitting you for drinks within 10 seconds of approaching you. The standard set-up is 3000 pesos for drinks, 6000 pesos for chica drinks, and a hefty house charge if you want to hook up with your chick on premises -- best to get her number and deal with her outside of the club. They're both very close to Plaza Italia -- Rugantino is on Alameda O'Higgins, while Divas is, I think, on Cardenal JM Caro.

There is another club further down the street, at 705 Av. Providencia, called Fabiano Rossi. This place is pricier, but it's got some lookers, and most of them are be willing to negotiate a salida. If memory serves me right, whe I was there six months ago the entrance fee was about 8500 pesos and chica drinks 9000 pesos.

If you're coming from Buenos Aires, the pickings here are definitely slim. I'll be going to BA for the first time later this week, so I will be able to put things into better perspective then. Needless to say, I'm pretty psyched about it!
