Just another thought or two on escort services in Santiago. My experience is that a service either has:

20 ish year old single mothers, for whom the service is just a damn job to survice--service will be mediocre, but you will pay in the US$40-60/ hour range.

20 to 25 year old singles, who are more semi-pro, turning a couple of tricks per week to keep them in club/car money. Daniela, described below, came from the second group. However, expect to pay $75/hour for a two hour session.

Just finishing up a five day business trip in Santiago. I can't understand the lack of postings in this forum, and the general negativity regarding the Santiago hooker scene. SCL is expensive. One needs to check the newspaper and call the numbers - For every few numbers, you might find one passable.

Do ask the person to come to your hotel. I had a local guide/cab-driver who helped me find one, towards end of my week long trip.

i visited santiago from august 14 until august 23, and although i was working a pretty heavy schedule, sought a little outside entertainment. because i was fitting my entertainment into the relatively small blocks of time i had available, i did not go the club route or other late-night, time consuming approaches. instead, i chose to use the escort services in the news review, a weekly, english language newspaper. i'm relatively fluent in spanish, and in the past, i've used the "sauna" listings in the classified section of the mercurio. while those services are definitely cheaper than the ones in the times, i've found the quality to be pretty mediocre and very inconsistent. in the times, there are about five or six services advertised, and i tried four of them.

The hooker scene in Santiago is discreet, but quite prevalent. Any of the main newspapers, such as La Tercera, or El Mercurio there are literally 100s of girls advertising their services under the category of "saunas". Most include a price and a cell phone number.

The street scene is concentrated mainly in an upscale entertainment district called "Providencia". Girls working independantly focus mainly on men in cars. They stand at normal bus stops and try to make eye contact with guys driving by. The Chileans understand how this system is, and it works pretty well. When you see a girl you like, you stop your your car, and roll down the window. The girl will approach, and speak to you through the window. All you need to say is "how much"? In Spanish "¿Cuanto me sale?" The going rate today (June 2002) is $10,000. Chilean pesos for oral, and $15,000. for intercourse. That's 15 and 20 USDs aprox. Here oral sex is called "la fracesa" and intercourse is called "contacto". They expect it to happen in the car. A standard place to park is the very large, and dark parking lot at the foot of San Cristobal Hill where the cable car station is. It's a 5 minute drive from Providencia's night club area. When you park, you'll notice at least 10 other cars doing the same thing you are. They drive in and drive out every few minutes. Cops will not hassle you at all. The free lance girls do not show up on the street untill after 11:00 PM. The later you go out, the more you'll see. If they see all the rooms have registered guests with names and ID card numbers they are content. They'll never go further that that. The police occasionally raid out and out burdels which never register anyone. I never go to those places. Santiago is actually quite a small city, and since I live and work here, if word ever got out that I was caught in such a raid, my name would be mud. I can't take that risk.

You can also find plenty of street hookers around Salvador metro along Providencia street on the south side of the street. The girls there seem to be a lower cut though. There are also girls on Vicuña MacKenna street on the West side of the street just a few blocks from Plaza Italia. The quality seems to sink though. There are basically three options. The Bars are the most expensive and basically for Gringos. But you are looking at a Salida of $50 - $200 US, over priced drinks and about the same cost to the girl. There are several bars near Providencia the closest Chain hotel is a Radison in the World Trade center. I think they call this part Las Lomas. Unless you have money to burn, I forget about them.

Outside of the bars there are two options, escorts and apartments. The cost here is about the same. About $60 for an hour. This is normally measured by time not to completion (not up to an hour.) So you might get a couple of go rounds in the hour or you can spend the time relaxing, drinking, talking, showering, the time is yours.

Most cabbies have their favorite apartments and get a commission. The quality varies day to day, hour to hour, apartment to apartment. So, it's trial and error.

Some escorts on the web but they tend to be over priced for the market. You can find as many as you want in the Classifieds of El Mercurio under Saunas. Try La Segunda and La Tercera news papers as well but the number is smaller.
