There are a few cafes con piernas (bars with lady drinks, sometimes takeout possible) in La Serena. But the women are mostly unattractive, often extremely so.

- Oasis, inside the shopping centre Caracol Colonial a block or to from Plaza de Armas, on Balmaceda con Cordovez. Open only in the daytime, until about 9 pm.

- Eden and Rapanui. Two places about 50 meters apart at the junction of Domeyko con Balmaceda.

- Hawai. Calle Almbaceda 475 by Banco de Chile.

These are all in walking distance from each other (max 15 minutes).

In Coquimbo, the neighboring town that has almost merged with La Serena, there are a few places too, perhaps of a bit better quality:

- Angeles.

- Vodoo.

These two are in walking distance from each other. If you are coming from La Serena you will need motorized transport. Any taxi driver worth his salt should be able to find them.

There are also some girls who work the bars at the big Enjoy Casino, but it seems they only turn up late, between 12 pm and 2 am.

I have only negative things to say about La Serena as a mongering destination, and to some extent as a tourist destination in general. The women in La Serena are generally very unattractive, some of the least attractive I have seen anywhere in the world.

Gentlemen, I went to La Serena a few months back, and I must say, that while there are indeed few mongering options in the City of La Serena, the options it does have are pretty damn good. At least from my experience.

First, I can recommend the Hotel Londres (on Calle Cordovez 550). US$40 for a singlebed room. The rooms are small, but the shower is hot, the service good, and the location really good, right in the center of town (which means it is not on the coast, although close by. A 10-15 minute taxi ride away to the beaches). I do not know if it was GF. Never brought a woman back with me there, I only frequented the casa de citas in town.

I frequented two casa de citas (brothels in a private house setup) during my stay:

As for the city itself, it is definitely an underrated place. It is a beautiful town and has nice beaches (although the water is simply too cold to enjoy) There are absolutely no gringos, euros, or much in the way of foreign tourists at all. I was here for 3 days on a business trip. Its a port city cum a mine city. Being a mine city, their is lot of money in this town, flight loads full of people coming here.

In centre of town, their are about 10 strip clubs or more. Most of them are pretty similar. I visited 3-4 of them.

I tried talking to chikas after 0300 when the club close, they wanted 100, 000 Chilean peso. That is 200 us$. That was for "toda la noche'/all night. Maybe a quickie could be had for 70, 000 pesos (140 us$).

Lot of chicks were from Dominican Republic.

The Chilean men seem to be enjoying watching the strip shows. No lesbian shows. Only girls stripping to birthday suits.

I stayed at Holiday Inn Express at 189 us$ a day, nothing great, average hotel.

The taxi from airport to my hotel cost 15000 pesos. That is 31 us$.

Their is a mall called Plaza mall in centre of the city. You get pretty much anything you want. 100's of eating options. You can also do some serious shopping there.

The taxis run without a meter and the rate has to be prefixed verbally before engaging them. The taxi drivers did not try to con me. Some taxis are yelloe colored, some are like regular cars.

The weather is not great. Day time can be very hot and night time gets pretty windy.
