I need some of the Colombia experts to chime in on this one. I've been there plenty of times, but I am not as well versed in the culture as some of the other guys on the board, so I'd like to know other peoples' take.

I just got back from Colombia today. While I was on the plane I thought about something. (About to contradict myself with this next statement I don't make it a habit of barebacking, but I have never been with a Colombian non-pro who has asked me to use a condom. Most women around the world insist on protection, but the Colombianas that I know don't even bat an eyelash when my bare meat goes towards them.

Even my 18yo gf who has very traditional/strict parents. I am the second guy that she has ever been with and the first time that we were together we went a little while without protection. Was she not afraid of getting pregnant? Then there is a chick in Barranquilla who I used to fool around with. She had a boyfriend and still. The list goes on. And I'm not talking about dumb ass or ghetto chicks. I'm talking about educated, well off ones. What is the deal with this?

They don't like rubbers either so they have their own protection. Either pills or a needle once a month. Or worst case they want you to knock them up and hope to hook you.

Reminds me of a chick who I had been talking to online for about two years. She worked at a kiosk at the mall making like 40000 pesos/day or less. I go to Colombia all of the time but I have never been to Cartagena to see her. A couple of months ago I mentioned to her that I would be going to Colombia in a couple of days. Out of nowhere she gives me a list of things to bring. Even if I was fool enough to buy all of this stuff where the f did she think I was going to put it?

I recently returned from two weeks in Colombia and want to pass on this info since I think most travelers don't know about it. If you fly Avianca to Colombia, they offer a Colombia Air Pass for domestic flights that is not available for purchase inside Colombia. There are a few "catches" but if you want to fly around inside the country and plan well it is a very good deal and will save a boat load of money.

Here's how it works: They sell the pass as 3, 4, or 5 flight packages. They call the individual legs or flights cupons. Three cupons will cost US$220 + $16 tax. If you fly to anywhere on the Caribbean coast those cupons cost an additional $60. I flew from Bogota to Pereira, bused it to Armenia, then flew from Armenia to Barranquilla and lastly Barranquilla to Bogota. My air pass cost US$260 + $16 tax.

Here's the catches:

1) I flew to Bogota from Ft Lauderdale. For some reason they couldn't sell me the pass at the ticket counter in FLL airport. I had to go to a hole in the wall strip mall mini-office of Avianca in Plantation to buy it. Fortunately, I knew this ahead of time and arrived in time (before they closed at 12:30pm on Saturday) to buy it. I don't know if the ticket counter in Miami can sell it but I would call to verify for your local. Don't assume it's available without checking. Also, even the Avianca agents I talked to on the phone didn't know a lot about it. It may take 2 or 3 calls to get good info.

2) You must reserve the flights at the time of purchase. You cannot carry the pass to Colombia and decide when and where to fly later. You can change your itinerary but there is a $30 charge.

3) For me this was a biggie. I travel heavy. I take the kitchen sink plus extra plumbing, just in case. There is a 20 kilo total baggage limit for any flight purchased with the air pass. Any amount over 20 kgs gets charged at a prorated rate. I carried approximately 50 kgs in two bags. My memory is a little foggy here but first flight I paid COP70, 000, 2nd flight COP 120, 000, third flight COP60, 000 for extra baggage.

Yeah that part sucked but I had such a great time and saw and did so much that I really didn't care. It was still a bargain.

After reading the contributions by others in this thread and in the new thread: Tips for dating Colombianas, I must conclude that in those cases, you can replace the words "Colombian" and "chica" by "Indonesian" and "cewek". How striking!

I do not insist though, that girls/women in both countries are all like that. However, I think that if you meet one through dating sites/internet or P4P activities, chances are that they will be.

In my opinion, the best way to start a relationship is to just let it happen. It will not be easy, because being a foreigner (gringo/bulai) means:money, and the first ones that will be attracted, will be the gold-diggers.

So, brother RR, I really can not give THE answer. I have been married to an Indonesian woman and that lasted 6 months. The separation however had nothing to do with either of the quoted situations, but jealousy. The culture difference might have been too big. Now, after more than twenty years, I'm still married to a Colombian woman. Maybe I met the wrong Indonesian one and met the right Colombian one.

another thought sometimes, these gals are often pushed into stupid plays, by family IE " the mommy" if she thinks she can get away with having the wallet pay then "do it". I bet the chica would have rather gone out dancing with you and drank a bottle on the local scene then drag you to exito for family shopping.

Bottom line if you feel your being taken advantage of, run away!!!!

From the latest posts, just want to add that if you meet a chica that makes her own money (I. E lawyer, broker or other highly educated woman) that can be just as bad. She will be bitching about this and that, just like your american counterparts. You didn't travel this far to take that shit again.

The worst kind is the "real" model girls (That actually do fashion-runs for a living) A friend of my did catch one of these, and I closeby watched the humiliation that comes with this kind of relationship. My guess is that you got to behave like a bold, true assh*le if you are going to stay on pair with such a woman.

For me, the girl-next door (with a job and a education) seems to be the best option for a relation (I said relation. Not marriage! )

I've done jakarta many times and love it, the girls look good and there the sincerest I've come across in 20 countries, this is mainly for Menteng to answer but anyone else who has done both please feel free to advise, could you tell me how they compare and if I was to look for a gorgeous young and sincere wife wich of the two would you recommend? I've been getting replies from some absolutely stunning chicks from a Colombian website but its kida like there to good to be true? I'm 41 Australian and in good shape but want to bail out of the mongering seen while I'm still in good enough shape to find something nice.

What Sailor2006 says is true. I am not sure what sites you are meeting these Colombian women on, but I have had good experience with Colombia Cupid and Latin American Cupid. I have met hundreds of girls online (unfortuately I have not been able to make a trip to Colombia yet), and only a few have asked for money. I have met at least 45 girls whom I have conversed with on a regular basis and feel are trustworthy and could visit tomorrow. I started out on there just to make a list of women to fool around with on trips to Colombia, but I have actually found some beautiful and educated women.

The good thing about the Cupid sites are if the girl asks for money you can report her and she will be deleted within 1 or 2 days. They do not fool around with scams. Every girl that has asked me for money I have reported and they have been deleted.

All that said, I have yet to travel down there to meet any of these women (early next year is my goal) so they could all be scams. Although I am no expert on Colombian women I do feel I have enough smarts to recognize a scam when I see one.

I think I can offer some feedback considering I lived in Jakarta for 2 years and have been a frequent visitor to Colombia for over 7 years. In my opinion, both Indonesians and Colombianas, in general, make excellent wifes/novias. As Sailor mentioned, it is important to speak the language in either country or you will be limiting yourself to cewe and chicas who probably have a lot of exposure to bule/gringos. These are the girls you want to avoid because a lot of them are insincere and there's a greater chance that they will try to play you. Both Bahasa Indonesian and Spanish are relatively easy to learn, so be sure to make that effort.

Although I had a lot of fun with both the pros and nonpros from all over Indonesia, I will always prefer Latinas (and in particular Colombianas and Venezolanas) just because I prefer the culture. However, there are a lot more opportunities to meet cewes just because there are way more of them. It's like shooting ducks in a barrel in Jakarta.

One thing to think about if you decide to marry a Muslim Indonesian is that you will have to convert to Islam in order to legally marry her. I've had friends who did this and it isn't a big deal. They did it "with a wink" and aren't religious anyway. However, some people aren't willing to change religions for anyone and you also have to think about how you want to raise future kids (if you're planning on having kids, that is). Colombians are predominantly Roman Catholics.

So I guess what I'm saying is that both countries are excellent choices for wife hunting (or mongering for that matter). It all depends on your individual preferences. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

I wouldn't suggest Colombia, this is a HARSH enviorment; asian women are more submisive and alot more easy to handle, a colombian will screw your brains out, be much more sexy and then along with her local lover steal everything you own. Your chances of finding a colombian whom will honestly like you and not give you a hard time or run for your money is difficult. Unless you speak spanish and know the land I wouldn't suggest it.

Before leaving for Colombia a couple weeks ago, I found my cialis supply level at critical. So while Colombia has a generic Viagra, It does not have a generic Cialis and I didnt want to spend 90k on a 4 pack at Exito or LA 14. I paid about $100 for 30pills and 4 free generic viagras to try (im not a fan of viagra). That included $10 unregistered mail shipping fee. After about 2 weeks a hand written orange envelope arrives from India. I open it up to see some basic instructions, details about the company and 30 orange, push pill professionally wrapped TADALAFIL tabs 20mg. I was psyched. Well upon arrival in Colombia my first night I pop one out and give it a whirl.. Gents may I tell you, JUST AS GOOD as the original and lasts a GOOD 36hrs as well easily. ALMOST like they were industrial strength lol. I felt like my 18yr old self again lol. The ONLY drawback is that they are NOT thin shell coated so make sure you have some water or coke nearby to swallow down more easy.

If you continue on your search in Colombia, with in the coming weeks you find these girls asking you for money, the reason will be many, and this will be your first warning sign. If by blindness and stupidity you choose to ignore this warning, she will continue to ask for more money, then stop talking to you, you will move on to the next girl on your hotlist or the next and then the next, one whom you have been chating for the past week also, she again will ask you for money or you may now start thinking that a trip to Colombia to vist your prospects are in order, you let the girls know that your arrival is near and make plans for your multiple city vists. These girls arnt stupid and realize that when your here the shoping trips begin. When you arrive youll be meet some some very pretty women all whom seem intrested in meeting you despite the fact that you don't speak spanish and they don't speak english, regardless they are overjoyed to meet you and begin to spend your money. Youll go to to dinners, see the sites, even go dancing, hit the beach meet the family, some girls may be bold enough to ask you for money at this stage.

At this point you weed out those girls whom are all about the money becuase after hitting the "***** houses" in your free time, your not as stupid (horney) as you were in the internet chatting days. But the real danger lies in the girls that don't ask for money, treat you like a king and even let you sleep with them, if she is hot enough and your type, you are now offically scrwed. Your 2-4 week trip is now over and you had more sex in those weeks then in most of your life. When you return home you can think of nothing eles but that chica, who is prefect for you, despite the fact that you barely know her name, and your conversations were limited to where your going to eat tonight. After a few more weeks of chating and some 2 minute phone calls, she will hit you up for money, becuase the family is in need, but if she is smart it won't be for too much. If she is really smart she won't ask for anything but wait for you to send some (which you will). Months go by and you make plans for your next vist to Colombia, maybe to pop the question and make plans for your purchase; I mean "wedding".

Its been a long road, lots of chicas, photos, meetings, dates, money wires, e-mails, phone calls you have meet some gold diggers and weeded them out maybe even some crazys. But you found the perfect one, she is hot, sweet, great in bed, and intrested in you, she even started english classes, that your paying for. You marry her arrange for the visa, maybe even knock her up, the problems that arise could be many, I couldn't even count all the troubles that could come from this, regardless please know your putting your life and fincial well being into play by trusting and marrying a women in the thrid world, you could be one of the lucky ones, one of the smart ones, whom can escape all the congames and find true happiness, but even at best, Even at best you will still be married!
