That ticket price is twice as much as it is normally. Usually it's about $200 max to fly out and about $300 max to fly back in unless your flying out of nowhere in the middle of America and have to make a transfer in Miami. Good fucking luck if you do have to make a transfer in Miami. I've had enough horror stories connecting at that airport to avoid transferring at it at all costs. Straight flight or I'm not going anywhere.

Passport came today, it's in my hand. I put in my request for time off, hope it'll be approved by the end of this week. Then I'll be looking at booking flights and making reservations.
I'm going the last week of June, Friday the 24th I believe until Sunday July 1st.
I'm still not 100 on DR or Colombia but I was looking at plane tickets today and they were almost exactly the same, about $800 round trip. If that's the case I will for sure be going to Medellin over Sosua as the women of Colombia seem to be much more attractive than DR, in my eyes at least.
Ya, idk. It's happening. I'll be in Poblado and Parque Lleras 90% of the time. Def interested in at least a couple tours around, otherwise I'll end up spending literally all my time in a room fucking.

If you do go to Costa Rica then I would check on the latest for the Del Rey. I haven't been to that area in 6 years, but I did understand that much of it has shut down. In addition to the Del Rey you can also spend a few days in Jaco and hit up the Hotel Cocal. It's generally packed as well with girls from all over latin america. I haven't been in some time, but another more tame environment and similar price range. Plus you have the beach and plenty of outdoor activities. The only downside is that Hotel Cocal is overpriced and many other hotels in the area are as well. You can easily spend $120-$150/ nt for a hotel.
Good luck with all and be safe!

We'll, I've been checking my passport status every day basically since I initially handed in the application and made my first post. Since then I've been researching, getting in shape, and trying to plan a trip.
Initially I was all in on Colombia, though after research I must admit I've definitely been mulling over other options, though I'm still leaning pretty heavily towards Medellin (considering Costa Rica, Brazil, and Dominican Republic).
At first I planned for the first week of July. Now it seems I'll be able to go in as early as 4-5 weeks.
So idk, I guess it's going to happen a bit earlier than I anticipated. Prolly still lookin at hotel m. 9 ish day trip.
I guess hit me with any last minute preparations, need to knows, or anything else.
So far basically what I've gathered:
Use Uber over taxis.
Don't wave money around.
Don't wear jewelry.
Buy a cheap burner phone for public use / don't use phone in public.
Don't go far at night.
Don't go to clubs alone.
Be aware of your surroundings.
Keep your valuables locked in the safe.
Only carry what you can afford to lose.
Don't let anyone give you a drink / touch your drink / accept an already open drink.
Tip security and tell them not to let a girl leave unless she's escorted by you.
That's basically my general safety list. Def want to have a good time but also be careful. As my trip looks like it's getting moved ahead quite a bit for sure would like to get all bases covered ASAP.
As always appreciate the insight you guys have offered.
Special shout out to jbee. You might not have said much but it actually motivated the fuck out of me. I'm nervous but ready.

In Sosua throwing extra money caused motoconchos (moto taxi) usually it 50 peosos maybe even 100 pesos max to go from Playa Sosua to Anvhee or vice versa, but gringo comes along and its all of a sudden 200 pesos. (little to gringos, but allot to a local).
This is already effecting Cartagena where prices are higher where gringos frequent such as Playa Hollywood, as opposed to a 5 minute walk on the same beach toward to ElLaguito where many gringos don't go, the same exact menu items are cheaper. Or my favourite is when the club where the gringos frequent all of a sudden stop serving domestic beers and only have imported more expensive beers after a certain time at night.
I'm not sure if Medelin was effected as I've never been and I doubt there are gringos stupid enough to throw money in the air there (literary) the way they do in DR clubs or Cartagena clubs (Personally I've seen this in Dolce and Delirium and videos online of them even doing it at the ClockTower).

https://co.usembassy.gov/covid-19-information/
As of May 1, 2022, visitors to Colombia ages 18 or older will need to provide proof of complete vaccination for entry or a negative COVID test (48 hours in advance of travel for an antigen test or 72 hours in advance of travel for a PCR test). Travelers should be prepared to show their original, physical vaccination card or digital certificate both at airline check-in and when passing through Colombian Immigration. The vaccination document must include the individual’s full name, date of vaccination, name of the vaccine administered, and the number of doses administered. A photo of one’s vaccination card may not be accepted. If you completed your vaccination scheme within 14 days before entry to Colombia you will also need to have an antigen test 48 hours prior to arrival or a PCR test 72 hours prior to arrival in Colombia.

However, Colombia is much larger place and the sex worker trade is a free market, and price is determined by supply and demand, and not by what mongers spend. You did not specifically mention the price of Pay for Play, so maybe that was not what you meant when you talked about markets getting "ruined" but I think that is at the core for most mongers.
Ostee Out.
