First, according to the circumstances that pointed out, citizens carriers of Swedish passport valid may be in Colombian territory a maximum of one hundred and eighty (180) days, continuous or discontinuous, during the same calendar year (2012).

Second, the normal procedure that applies to any tourist upon arrival is authorize their initial entrance up to ninety (90) days. This period can be extended by filing an application for extension, before expiration of the period originally authorized, before the migration office nearest Colombia (Old Administrative Security Department D. A. S). Migration Colombia has offices in all capital cities of department).

Third, if your entrance allowed to Colombia are sixty (60) days, I recommend that before the end of the term is closer to an office of Migration Colombia, to request an extension.

I will also ask those institutes to clearify if one get 60/90 new days if one leave and re-enter Colombia.

Two years ago I was in Colombia for 66 days. I had to go to the MDE DAS to get a visa extension. They made me jump thru many hoops for three days till I got my stamp. Then at the airport they charged me again the same price as DAS did in MDE. Things may have changed, and you can stay over 60 days now, but if I was away for over 60 days I would either go to Panama or Equador before the 60 days was up, and then return for a fresh time period. I wrote a post back in 2010 explaining the DAS nightmare I endured.

I also heard that DAS is either disbanded or somehow changed. No matter what if I were you I would not spend 72 days in Colombia. That is to long for me, and I love the Country.

I am native speaker fluent in reading, writing and speaking Spanish, so language is no barrier for me when visiting a Spanish speaking country.

I have been to the Dominican Republic more than 15 times since April of 2008 and I like it very much. However, I am very curious about Colombia and would like to hear from people who have been to both places (DR & Col.) in order to get an idea as to whether Colombia is as good, better, or worse than the DR for meeting women.

Are the women as easy to meet as in the DR? In the DR you can meet them on buses, stores, restaurants, the street, etc. Of course I'm talking from the perspective of someone who's fluent is Spanish, if one is not it might not be as easy.

Provided that you are from a country (for example USA) exempt from visa requirements for tourist visits, you can stay up to 90 days in the Colombia. However you are only exempt from the exit tax (impuesto se salida) if you stay less than 60 days (or less than 180 days if you are a Colombian with residence in a foreign country).
