First of all, just seeing your handle I have to ask: did you meet the girl in SXM or in Colombia? If it was only in SXM, have you visited her in Colombia? Unless and until you do, IMHO, you know nothing about her.

In general, I've seen anything short of outright fairy-tale in the gringo / foreign bride combinations. If the "relationship" doesn't cost you a lot of western union $$$, why not take things slow? i found this online so i am going to paste a piece here:

Only custom harassment I hear from my friend is they ask a lot of stupid questions and they looked at his pictures on his camera. I never had that happen to me, guess I been lucky to not run into one of those customs agent.

If you fly straight and have clean hands you never have to wash them. Good rule of thumb to live and travel by.

A friend of mine in Bogota works cam as well while she is in school (don't know why she told me about it in the first place).
