Hi,

I have 2 months holiday and I want to spend it in on location if possible. I usually go to Pattaya as it has EVERYTHING. But latino women make my heart skip a beat. Is it possible in Cartegna to do the following:

* learn spanish and dancing for 2 months.

* do a bootcamp / get a personal trainer for 2 months to lose weight.

* hire an apartment that allows guests (and ideally asks for their I'd to be left behind while the guest is in the apartment)

* have ST and LT fun.

* good time to go in Jun-Aug.

What sort of costs will I be looking at?

* You should be able to learn to Speak and Dance no problem. Both lessons can be found at an institute.

* Bootcamp? I guess you could hire a personal trainer but one that speaks English I'm not sure.

* If you rent a spot it's your; you just have to responsible for the behavior of your guests like it was your actual apartment. Most places have a no loud parties clause IMO.

*I'm guessing ST is Short Term and LT is Long Term, If I am correct then yes you should be set and there should be no issue.

* Google the Time frame to check on the weather and be sure to check for holidays. Colombians love 3 day weekends and they all run off to the Mountains and such so all the big cities dry up and become ghost tows.

The fun factor will not compare to Pattaya, but life is all about different experiences. It is good that you have a game plan and do not plan on just chasing women. Otherwise, it would be a long 2 months.

I'm planning a trip to Colombia this year and have a some questions on phones in Colombia.

Do a lot of chicas in Colombia like in other countries use blackberries because BBM is free and the best way to keep in contact with people?

The reason I ask because I have an unlocked blackberry and I found BBM really convenient when keeping in touch with chicas when I'm in another country.

Here's another question. Is it easy to by a sim card I'm Medellin and will it work with my unlocked phone?

Yo. YES! Chicas love I'm / BBM just like girls in the states! Actually most of the "regular girls" I have had the pleasure of becoming friends with all have black berrys and alaways ask what's my pin.

Sim cards are easy to find, in most every mall at the Tigo, Movistar, or Comcel store you should be able to get a sim card, or even at the kiosks at super markets should have them. I got mine at a internet cafe (not too many in the gringo areas of Medellin surprisingly) in Olviedo mall for a few bucks.

I have a cheap phone I got jailbroke in Peru that wroked all over South America (Argentina is on a different systyem as I can tell so it did not work there) so I'm guessing yours should work.

Respectfully speaking, but even if you are a veteran rider you can never predict what the other driver will do. Some people freeze up when they see bikes zooming by, and one tilt of the wheel can mean serious problems for the rider. We have to watch for tourists who will pop a "U turn" right in front of us. We have to watch for elderly people who freeze up and brake for no reson. I would never cancel a friend because he wanted to be safe and make it home to his family.

Mr Gogo and Hasideas Tao, I was mostly joking but I know what you are saying. No worries. He is my best friend and I will never dump him as a friend. I don't ride with him for other reasons.

Not a hundred percent sure of the meaning behind Vitrea's post. But as someone else also picked up on, it kind of comes across like he doesn't ride with his friend anymore because he couldn't keep up. Hey! Slow down once in a while. You'll do yourself and everyone around you a world of good. An opportunity to break a routine can be a good thing.

I rode in Italy once with a friend who refused to do it (he is from California) and I don't ride with him anymore.

In Medellin, seeing the Motorcycle riders zip between the cars is amazing. I can't believe that there aren't a couple of dozen killed each week. You Gringo riders do that when you're in Colombia? Just wondering

On another note, Cali has outlawed TWO guys on a motorcycle like 5 years ago in an attempt to try and curb robberies and assassinations. Mixed couple no problem. So its not like you'll be carrying a male passenger around with you all the time I don't think but its a big no no.

Thank you both (MHL and Mr. Gogo). I am not planning on riding with another guy for sure. I am planning on doing this with one other buddy on two motorcycles and this guy looks like a robber too. A bigger group might be a bit restrictive in terms of spontaneous mongering opportunities.

Are you saying they won't allow a passenger on any bike? Some of these bikes have bigger engines than a small car! It would be a shame to pass such a law.

From what I understand, most robberies are committed by guys riding as passengers brandishing guns. I feel what you want to do. Here is a beautiful country and what better way to explore it than on a bike. Maybe a group event like Greg suggested might be best, but riding alone could be risky.
