I just checked the US Embassy website and it says that in order for me to bring my girl from Medellin to the US for a road trip with me for a few weeks that she needs a tourist visa. To get this visa she needs an interview in Bogota. The site says there is a 696 day waiting period for this interview!

Whats the trick? It can't really take 2 years for me to get her a visa so she can travel to the US with me for a couple of weeks, could it?

Who knows the scoop on how to get a girl with a Colombia passport a visa so I can fly her to the USA with me for 2-3 weeks.

I am a US citizen with a US Passport-but I live outside the USA. The plan is for her to come to where I live and then fly with me to the states for 2-3 weeks. We met on Seeking and have been hanging out quite a bit over the last 1. 5 years. We have a cool vibe together and have done small trips already, so I don't need lectures about having a girl for 2-3 weeks or traveling with a chica. I am only seeking information on how I get her a visa to visit the USA with me for a couple of weeks-hopefully not 2 years from now. LOL.

Anyone know anything about getting my girl a visa to visit the USA?

OMG that's a far cry from what it was 3 years ago. My girl applied for her interview she got the interview in a few weeks, like 2/3 weeks, was called down for the interview. She brought her passport and grades with her from the Nat'l university and a letter from me stating I would be responsible for her welfare during her time in the USA, and that's it, no bank statements etc, NADA!

The interviewer asked her a few questions in Spanish, she answered, he then asked if he could ask her a few in English, she said sure, answered them and he stamped her papers and approved 10 year visa. He told her she would be notified in a few weeks when to come down and pick up her passport with the visa in it They notified her in less than a week to come get it and that was it. She's been coming to the USA now many times to meet me and never a problem. Not sure why the extreme difficulty now, especially when any knucklehead who can fog up a mirror can walk across the border, get free money, a phone, an apartment and food stamps. How can our country be so messed up and make it so difficult for someone trying to do it the legal way, The only thing that has changed is we had a different President back then when my girl applied. You may have to do your road trips in Canada or Mexico.

And at the interview, will she be able to show sufficient funds in her name to cover the length of the trip? Does she have an 'en blanco' taxpaying job or property in her name? If not, it's unlikely she will get the visa even if you are able to accelerate the interview. And of course no money back on denial.

I was in MDE 2 weeks ago, for a long weekend, Friday thru Sunday. Exchange rate was 4100.

Was using my spirit frequent flier miles, now the trip mileage to spend has almost doubled, could be because it is June and summer vacation too.

Now airfares have gone up, so I am sitting home. Yes.

The airlines are out of control. The problem with sitting out is it may be a while before things level off if ever. Polical pundants insist this is by design by the administration to inflict pain on the energy sector. The problem is how long before we have ELECTRIC planes. Jaja. I saw a news clip of a travel expert say it can be 1 or 2 YEARS before the travel industry returns to normal. One problem is they buy the fuel 3 to 6 months ahead of delivery time. So if your in the same camp as me and believe fuel will be even more when the airlines buy for the next purchase period it just might be even more expesive, sooo looks like flights will continue to get more and more expensive: looks like the future for mongers is going to get worse and worse'er jaj.

I just got back from Bogota and planning another trip in 2 weeks and I swear the already over priced airfare has almost doubled from the prices last month. I never fly Spirit because they suck but their price for Atlanta to Bogota is almost as much as Delta. I can afford to pay it but I'm not happy. I hate being gouged. Plus the dollar continues to go down, from 4000 a week or so ago to in the 3700 range. So I'm wondering if these events are holding any of you guys back from making a trip.

The amount that my flights have increased would pay for 9 days in my hotel and I usually stay 2 weeks so yes it is keeping me away. I always fly COPA.

Yes youn eed to leave bcos they will only 2 extension per entry. But you could stay until slmost end if Feb.

I did a same day visa run, but using different passports. I did research if you could do it on the same passport. Some folks said they did it NP. Others said you needed to eait X days, but could never provide any evidence when asked, so I think they were just repeating what others had said.

So to summarise, several confirmed they had done it, and I never found any evidence to refute it. Please let us know if you find out.
