When you go to the ATM, and there's a Davivienda ATM right next to La Strada (where you'll probably have a few meals), take whatever card you're using and not your wallet. Wallets make easy to spot bulges.

Back left pocket. Identification. I carry my US Passport card for ID, along with pictures on my phone of my passport, and entry stamp page (and this time, vaccination card). You can have the Hotel make a copy of your passport to carry. Also my room key, if its a key card.

Back right pocket. The rest of my cash, mostly the small bills wrapped in a 50 k bill. In the event of a robbery, that's the first thing I would hand over. It's where I normally carry my wallet, so It's where I would naturally reach.

Other general safety tips:

1. Be suspicious of anyone (outside the Mansion bar) who wants to drink with you, or offers you a drink. Chances are too high they have bad intentions.

2. Be aware of your surroundings. If you need to look at your phone, step inside a business, or stop and put your back to the wall. Don't walk around with your nose glued to your phone.

3. Watch your step. There are holes and curbs where you can break an ankle.

4. Don't assume traffic will stop for pedestrians. Don't assume that traffic won't speed up if they see you trying to cross the street.

5. Always check the meter when you get in the taxi. It will be an LED display, on the rear view mirror, on the dash or on the windshield. It should read 3800 when you get in. If it's reading something higher, point it out to the driver.

La Isla and Fase 2- The prices are about the same, the talent varies depending on the night. However, the seating at Fase 2 is some of the most uncomfortable you will find. La Isla is much more comfortable. Get your waiter to give change for a 50 k bill. You'll get a stack of 2 k bills to tip with. In both places, if you want to take a girl, she will take you to the bar to pay. Rooms are on-site.

Personally, unless I'm going with a group of friends, I won't go to either one. If I'm solo and get a strip club urge, I'll go to one of the clubs in El Centro.

Is it 65 k now? 5 years ago you got 2500 COP for $1, now you get 3800. Price went from $18 to $17. Fb, El Centro, actual cost has gone down. About the only spots where you will pay more now are La Isla, Fase 2 and Gusto.

If the mongering scene is dying in Medellin, it's news to me. Every day I've got girls trying to get on my schedule.
