I always thought of the DR as being pretty dangerous, especially Santo Domingo.

Here's my plan, I've made all the reservations however I can still cancel.

Fly into to Bogota. Through booking.com I've booked transportation to and from the airport.

Stay at https://www.82hostel.com/, in the middle of Zona Rosa. Super cheap, discount rates and I have a feeling it's going to be pretty empty besides me. I can relax with my laptop and wifi.

Buy anything else and use the ATM at Atlantis Plaza Shopping Mall, during the daytime, also 5 minute walk. By the way, I have a money belt which straps around my waist under my shirt where I keep valuables when traveling.

After a month, take my pre booked car back to the airport and I'm gone.

My assumption is that not only will the girls in the brothel be beautiful and affordable, but also very and excited to get a nice gringo customer during this time.

It doesn't sound worse to me than spending a month in any other city, if I follow these guidelines. Where I live now, Haifa Israel, I could also get hit by a bus. Any thoughts?

Please check the local news every morning, and don't go out on a day when there is a protest. Thugs are taking advantage of the (legitimate) protests.

I'm here now. Arrived 3 nights ago. This is my first trip here for 12 years. I can really feel a difference. There's a kind of tension in the air and more desperate or menacing looking people around than before. I'm staying at the Radisson Metrotel on Calle 74. I've walked from here up to Zona Rosa, and down to Chapinero around Lourdes. I haven't had any problems so far. Just a few people begging, no more than in Costa Rica where I just came from. But like I say, there's a definite feeling of tension and desperation just in the air and in the vibes some people give off.

I've had some Tinder girls in the hotel room. No drugging yet, haha. The hotel hasn't given me any problem yet about guests or charged any fee, even though I stupidly forgot to book the room for two. But I've only had girls over midday for a few hours. And they've all been dressed like normal girls, not slutty.

As for political demonstrations I haven't seen any. There's just a lot of graffiti around with their slogans. A couple of nights ago I heard what might have been gunshots off in the distance, though.

It might be silly and reckless to be here now but a lot of the best places in the world aren't open right now. Costa Rica was ok but I've always liked Colombia better. That's been true this time also especially about the girls. I have to go back to Saudi Arabia in a few days so I'll brave the risks knowing I might get locked in there again for months. Everyone stay safe.

Some preventive measures to reduce, if not totally eliminate, the risk of theft using scopolamine are below. There could be other things as well.

-1 Don't bring girls to your hotel room. Use short time hotel.

-2 Request girls to bring cedula, check its authenticity, and take a pic of it in front of them. Tell them the pic is stored in iCloud etc.

-3 If you use your hotel room, hotel receptionist must call you and confirm your safety when the girl is leaving the hotel.

All girls know that these are reasonable actions for safety though some of them may pretend to disagree and contend. Don't deal with the latter.

Best way to avoid being drugged is don't drink anything you didn't open, then you can save of doing all this stuff.

Is a pity how dangerous became Colombia, it could be a paradise without this.

But information is power. I am seriously thinking of delaying my trip to Bogota in a few weeks until I see things normalize. Now is not the time but for anyone not vaccinated you should think of the possibility of getting sick in Bogota. Hoping for, state of the art care if you get covid, in Colombia is not going to happen, they are overwhelmed.

So on top of all the crime getting covid in Colombia will be a nightmare.

Gentlemen I went there in Nov last year. Never wore a mask at Santa Fe and always kept my hands washed. Sampled the ladies (up close obviously) and was just fine. I am far from saying COVID is not a threat. What I am saying is short of all out civil war / insurrection or Ebola don't let COVID stop you. Just my. 02.

We went to Bobs for a late burger from time to time but never turned right and walked up Rua Djalma Ulrich that was the real danger, once in a while you would see the shit slingers venture down closer to Help. My apartment was on Atlantica, turning left out of Help and go 2 blocks to the apartment always seemed somewhat safe. I had a wingman walk alone from Ipanema back to our apartment at 4 am he made it alive but had to out run one robber jaja ahh the memories, Help, Terraco, L'uomo never forget my first time at L'uomo a Terma / working girl house in the mall jaja only in Brazil.

Never had any problems in Copa Cabana-- Guess I was lucky back in early 2000's during Help days-- I remember getting an open air BBBJ somewhere around there-- LOL.

And has lived in Bogota for at least 10 years and very familiar with SF and Bogota. It truly can happen, anywhere, anytime to anyone. I remember in the Help days in Rio. The most dangerous area for us Gringos was between Help and Bob's on Rua Djalma Ulrich, Everyone knew, never walk down that street. You could avoid any real injury in Rio by having a few reals in your pocket, throw it up in the air and run and you were home free, NOT IN Colombia. Now, it seems to me Colombia has become to most dangerous area to practice our hobby than ever before. Also many robbers are of "shoot first" ask questions later type. There is so much poverty now that people are going hungry. Don't trust the girls either, they are controlled by there boyfriends and will do whatever they say and Devils breath has made a big comeback in recent months. Not trying to scare any newbies here but it's best to pass on Colombia, my favorite country, for the time being.

I walked that stretched between Help and Bobs many times without incident, but I was younger and ready to run at any sign of risk. Also walked several blocks from L'Uomo late at night down Ave N. S. Copacabana past many people sleeping on the street. I was stupid and lucky.

Anyway I don't think Brasil is going to be any safer than Colombia now. Lots of very desperate people in both countries. Which happen to be my two favorite destinations in the World.
