Hey, so I decided to stay in Bogota. The states are tooo hot for me to go and the virus spread more. This is such a strange post to make.

I stocked up yestrday on some food. You are allowed to leave your house solo to get food. I was at Toastao and got some coffee and fresh baked crossiants. The streets are empty with the occasionally taxi or empmty bus.

Strange times we live in. And yes the clubs are closed.

I think you're absolutely right on this. Colombia is trying to get over the stigma of being a dangerous country with over fifty years of FARC rebels and paramilitary death squads. Since 2017, after an agreement with FARC was reached, the country has been pushing heavily on tourism. After the ban is lifted, they'll be welcoming tourism with open arms to get the peso back up. As for the girls, this virus doesn't change the fact that Venezuela is still a wreck. The Vennies will be even more desperate for cash, prices might actually get lower. I predict the girls will come back in droves. We'll see.

Venezuelans would be limited to crossing the border between Puerto Carreno and Inirida on the Orinoco River in Vichada department. There's no border patrol there, and it's easy to cross if you ask a local fisherman. You can also cross over from Colombia to Venezuela the same way. If you're a tourist, it's a lot easier than getting a visa. There are many small settlements along the river.

Even though the borders are temporarily closed, at least Brazil remains open in case you want to re-route your travel plans.

So apart from the concern we may have for the Colombians' welfare, health wise and financially; the pertinent question is when will mongering return to normal?

Peak mongering in other countries may take years to return to pre virus levels, with many bars closing permanently and working girls leaving town to return home. A crash followed by a slow rebuild similar to the expectation for Pattaya or Bangkok in Thailand perhaps. Forecast. Slim pickings?

Colombian mongering may be not be hit as hard due to a lesser reliance on tourism and other factors?

I doubt it as most have been allowed into Colombia as refugees, they will not let others in The border is shut.
