Not disagreeing with you and what are suggesting is very possible. However, in this situation, when I checked the remaining bills in my pocket, I found more fake ones similar to the one's she returned. So clearly the girl wasn't switching my bills.

The cambios must stamp any bill you get from them so that if you get any counterfeit bills you have proof that it came from them. If they don't stamp the bills that's a good indication it's fake. I got stung once from a cambio in the Parque 93 mall that I used many times and then one day a changed some money got in a taxi and the driver refused most of the 50's saying they were fake. I took them to the Casino in Andino mall and the machine wouldn't accept them. I went back to the Cambio and raised hell but he said I didn't give you those bills, where is my stamp to prove it. I was pissed but had no recourse always always get the bills stamped or don't accept them.

I thought I would take a little time to give some information about where I exchange my US dollars for pesos here in Bogota. I consistently see reports about people exchanging at the airport and I believe that sometimes the rates are okay, but often they're far lower than you can get out of an ATM or a good cambio elsewhere in the city.

A little known fact about cambios is that their rates are negotiable. If you ask for their rate without any context they'll give you the rate they would offer if you're just exchanging a single $1 bill. If you can give them more information about how much exactly you have, and what the denomination of the bills are that you want to exchange, they will typically give you an adjusted price based on the value of the transaction to them. The more money you transact at once, and the larger the denomination of the bill, the better your rate will be. Typically you can achieve a 1% to 5% increase on your exchange if you have $1,000 or more in $100 bills to exchange at once.

Now, this is not the best place in the city to exchange money, but it is the best place in the city I have personally found to exchange money. It is called Avenida Chile shopping center on Google Maps. It is located at CL. 72 #10-34 in Chapinero. I'll attach screenshots of the google maps overhead satellite view. The reason I like this centro commercial is simply because there are about 8-10 cambios inside and they are all on the top floor. It is quite easy to go into every cambio and get their rates without having to traverse a large area or multiple floors. When I first got to Bogota on this trip I was able to exchange dollars above the officially traded rate. I believe I exchanged my US dollars for about 4% higher than the best rate I could find at the airport that previous day.

Does anybody know of a place in Medellin to exchange cash that is similar to avenida Chile shopping center where many money exchangers operate in competition in close proximity to eachother?

At Luminous below on fake bills: This may have been a known trick. You have given the girl the real bills and she came back with fakes. Just a tip, occasionally I take photo shots of bills before I pay with them for services to avoid such situations, or other when the girl may claim I haven't paid her (in case of an argument police will find the bills on her).

I don't know how rampant fake bills are in Colombia, but it happened to me and what ensued was interesting, so I am sharing. Primarily for fake bills and maybe some entertainment.

On a recent trip I don't know how but I ended up with a few 50 mil fake bills. Maybe it was at the place where I exchanged money or maybe at the Casino, I have no idea. When I showed up at this Massage + Service place opposite Dann Carlton hotel and gave this cute girl money for full service, she came back and told me some of the bills were fake. Mayhem ensued an all the girls started checking out the fake bills and giving me advice on how I need to be careful and always check before I receive bills. My Spanish is not great, so I understood only 25% of what they were saying but I was really enjoying the girls get excited over my fake bills.

Since I didn't have all the money in good bills, we settled on a BJ as that's all I could cover. After 3-4 minutes, the girl giving me the BJ said she felt bad for me and will have sex for free. I was shocked and speechless, was blown away by her warmth and care, I had never expected this in my wildest dreams. She made my day and created a lifetime memory.

Since that episode I have been back couple of times to see her, paid her full service and tipped her very well. This is my way of thanking her for the human she is.

My two takeaways were.

1 Even the professionals have a heart and are not trying to rip you off all the time.

2 I only go to currency exchange places that put their stamp on the bills so in case there in an issue, I can bring it back to the. I mostly go New York Money Exchange in Andino mall, I am pretty sure their rates are not the best but it's convenient for me as I always stay close to it and they stamp every bill so peace of mind.

I think it is a little known fact that rates are indeed negotiable if you are changing larger amounts I. E 1 k usd. At the very least, It never hurts to inquire.

Jack, Plan be is just 1. 5 MG of Levonorgestrel. I have not bought it in Bogota but I would be shocked if you could not buy it for cheap there. It is like $50 a pill in the USA, $7 on alldaychemist, and I am sure way less than that in Bogota. You tell the girl you are giving her this so she cannot get pregnant. Every time I have suggested it the woman has gone for it. Do it right after having sex; it works best that way. The women usually have no side effects. Some may have some cramping and bleeding but they get that with their periods anyway.
