I just spent 40 minutes, digging through the wrong thread, trying to find my post about the various costs of getting pesos. The bank I use offered to sell me pesos at a cost of 16%. It's better than the airport casa de cambio, but worse than any other option. Even sending money to yourself via Western Union is cheaper.

However, Bank of America gives an excellent rate to their customers. Maybe because they've been caught twice, in the past 10 years involved in a major foreign currency manipulation scheme.

My soon to be former bank, Fifth Third, always hit me for about 6% on foreign ATM withdrawals. My new account charges a flat 1% and will reimburse foreign ATM fees.

One issue that most aren't aware of, involves the max amount an ATM will dispense. It's not universal. For example, I went to a Davivienda ATM with another monger. The max he could withdraw was 400 k. The max I could withdraw was 2 million.

I'm back after too long. Landed last night in the middle of the night, so wasn't ready until 3:30 am, which is too late for the clubs. Arranged for a chica from a previous trip to come over. 250 k for 4 hours. I don't usually pay so much but not many options at that time of night and I wanted guaranteed quality.

Went out this morning using the map. First couple of places don't seem to exist but maybe I'm not following it correctly. Ended up is a casa a couple blocks away from my apt. 4 chicas came out to introduce themselves. I picked the first one and she told me it's 35 k for half an hour. As a side note: I got a new toy. A water tester. I was surprised to see that the water running through the pipes at Hotel San Francisco (20) is much cleaner than bottled water (80). It is all safe to drink until you get around the 500 mark.

I know someone who did the same test but with a lab, and he confirmed me the same. Tap water was the best quality, then Manatian, the other water brands came out bad. However, they often use water reservoirs on the top of the buildings as in the past Bogota suffered from water shortage. Some of these reservoirs are really dirty. Bottom line: it might be different from one hotel to another.

Another good night in Santa Fe last night. Hit 3 chicks for 30K each and 7K each time for the rooms. I asked one Venezuelan that I hit how much for all night. She said from this time (it was 11:30) generally 180K or 150K. I was playing with the last chick's bootyhole and she said I could fuck it for a little extra. I declined. Thanks for the tip. There's also another option: you can get the money before you come. I can order foreign currency through my bank (in the US) and it arrives within a day or two. All I have to do is fill out a form, and the cash is taken out of my account and traded for whatever currency I want. The exchange is free for any amount over $150, and there is no loss on the exchange rate, it exactly matches XE.

Here's a trick. Go to the Colpatria / Davivienda machine directly across from the Migracion office. You can't miss it. You will not be charged an ATM fee and you can take out 2,700,000 pesos. Do NOT go to the Colpatria ATM on the far end of the airport---as if were just arriving at the airport. You will pay to use that machine. This is on the departure level. Using this machine you would NEVER use a casa de cambio.

Most ATMs dispense 50,000 and 20,000 bills. I believe some also give 10,000 bills, but I don't remember for certain.

My stereotype is the Brazilian women are better looking and better in bed, but they are much more business oriented and much less loyal compared to Colombian women..

IMO it's hard to beat the downright beauty of the Colombiana, generally speaking.
