New to the scene and just got into Bogota. Definitely a bit of a culture shock. Thanks to everyone for all the shared information. Would be even more lost without it.

If anyone is in town over the next few weeks and wants to meet for a drink, I'd love to learn the ropes first hand.

I also planed a little trip to Bogota for two, maybe weeks. I have been there 6 times and speak spanish very well. Anyone there in February from 26.02 till 16.04? My plan is to rent a airbnb apartment near Santa Fe and party hard. I mean really hard!!

If you want stay near chapinero places you can choose casa de guillermo hotel or if you want stay closer santa fe you can stay at Hotel El Virrey both places is cheap and not so bad I stayed myself before for long layovers

First trip to Bogota coming up in a week or so and I need some advice. Hotel or air B&B? I have read that some hotels claim they are "guest friendly" but only when the guest is there at check or else you will have to pay a fee to bring them to your room in the evening?

Or is airB&b the way to go? I guess its important to book 2 guests for an air B&B listing or you could run into trouble? Any help is appreciated.

I had no issues at the AirBNB rental I had in Bogota (Museo Parque Central in El Centro). The building was well secured and once they knew my face as someone was staying there, they opened the door without hesitation for me or my company.

My homeboy just stayed at the Hotel Ibis (near the Museo Nacional). He told me that he had zero problems taking chicas from Santa Fe back to his room.

If you don't care about money, just pay the guest fees at the hotels. There is no way around this in Colombia. Some of the more rustic traditional places actually charge per head even if you're all staying in the same room! (this isn't specific to Colombia BTW).

If you want better value for your money, book an Airbnb. Make sure you put 2 guests down and DON"T book insta-booking. Leave in the notes when requesting to book that you specifically plan to have company, and it won't always necessarily be the same guest. Then if they give you any problems, they are at your mercy because you can 1 star them on Airbnb and REALLY hurt their biz.

Who doesn't care about money, LOL? But I care even more about not getting ripped off, because this is exactly what hotels are doing charging you $30+ for bringing a girl for a few hours. Look, I totally get it if a proprietor doesn't want having prostitutes in your house -- then don't admit them. But if you do admit them for extra $$ and that's beyond the double occupancy, mind you, then fuck your morals. Hookers don't consume or tax any hotel resources, and there is no justification for the upcharge. Pure money grab.

Went to the Primer de Mayo clubs in the south. A bottle (media) is 55,000 and comes with a show. The prices in the south are more economical than anywhere else. The great majority of the girls were young pretty Venezolanas. What I noticed is that these girls seem less hardened than the other clubs in Bogota and actually seem to enjoy it. I think it's because the turnover rate is high so many of these girls are new and since the pay for them isn't as good, they leave the business. If it wasn't for the girls stripping, one would think that these places were actually normal clubs as everyone of the girls are dancing with the men giving a GFE to each of them for the night. One thing to note is that these clubs start pretty late and this part of town can be even more dangerous than Santa Fe so be cautious and don't take your phone out on the street.

Air BNB is not 100% girl friendly as it depends of the personal rules of the owner and any citizen is allowed to refuse entrance of a stranger in his home without explanation.

Well, even when renting a room in Bogota, the standard rule of thumbs is that you can bring your BF / GF in but not multiple peeps.

Culturally, that sort of shit is looked down upon, in Bogota and just about anywhere else in the western world (they even had an episode of Sex and the City dedicated to it).

It's not like anybody in Bogota really has any idea who is or isn't a pro anyways. 50% of women in Bogota between ages 15 and 50 have charged for sex at least once in their lives.

It's certainly a good idea to not get an owner-occupied AirBnb at any rate, just generally. I've seen ones where they draw the bolt on the front door at 9 pm and don't open it again until 6 am the next day!

As Routard would say, all hotels in Bogota are guest-friendly, but most, in my research, will make you pay for the privilege.

Airbnbs don't always solve the problem, as the owners don't want mongers to annoy their neighbors. You always need to ask, be it a hotel or Airbnb. Having said that, some hotels will let you bring girls until 10 PM, then it's extra. Send them an email and ask.

I brought a girl to JW Marriott during my stay. Granted, she didn't look like a hooker, but even if she did, I don't think anyone would stop her anyway, at least during busy hours.
