Walking back to SF after a robbery attempt isn't the mistake. Going to SF late in the first place was the mistake. Never be complacent anywhere. That being said, I have been to Santa Fe wayyyy more times after 11 pm than I have been in the afternoon or evening. And I have been countless times alone and think I have only been 2 or 3 times with someone else. Never seen a problem or had any problems. And like I said before, I walk between there and my hotel downtown. Maybe they just know who to touch and who not to touch. Not that I carry any weapons or anything. This is my first time in Colombia. I read up on a lot of the trip reports and a big thanks to all the contributors especially Trombone, Bluechange or their intel and insight. Going to Cartagena with a 24 hour layover in Bogota. Staying at one of the Viaggio Hotel in chapinero. I will check out Santa Fe at night. Just need ideas of what to do during the day. On the subject of altitude sickness, I came across something on the Quito thread that hit me as significant. Sildenafil (Viagra) is medically proven to be useful in dealing with altitude sickness. I'm guessing some of you might have already known this, but I expect others were not aware of that.

Myself, I take L-Arginine daily, specifically for cardi-vascular health and also because it boosts your performance during workouts.
