After 8 days of quarantine in Bogota, I'm almost recovered from Covid. The hotel has been very helpful, checking up on me daily and they even cut my room rate by 20%. Although, if I'd suspected I had Covid, and would need a quarantine, I'd have found myself a cheaper hotel, I have no complaints with the airport Courtyard by Marriott.
If all goes well, I hope to have a negative test on Monday, ending my quarantine a day or two before I fly home. Now I'm trying to decide how best to use that small window. Other than getting out and eating something that didn't come from room service, I'm undecided.
I still tire easily, so I'm not planning on anything too energetic, but I might find a massage or a club to relieve some boredom. I've had several offers from girls in Medellin to come and take care of me, as well as one in Pereira. One or two of them would be tempting, but not real thrilled with that route.
I'm familiar with the mezzanine, along with another nearby spa, but it's probably disappeared by now. The northern clubs don't much appeal to me, although I'll consider if there's one that I just can't miss. I'm not interested in pulling off the street in Santa Fe. I'd rather go to a club with decent onsite rooms. At this stage of my recovery, I'd probably be satisfied with a good, professional massage with a good happy ending.
I'll probably post a "What's there to do in Bogota" on Facebook, just to see if any of the Medellin girls have a local they want to recommend. If anyone has a suggestion on how to spend a few hours, with minimal physical exertion, let me know.

Yes, Santa Fe is half-dead during day and night. There are fewer girls, and they are not attractive. I will fly to Medellin soon.

It is funny the last two times I went to Bogota I was in shape and not in shape. In shape, I had no problems, but the last time I went when I was out of shape was brutal: headaches, fatigue ETC. It is amazing how much this can vary from not just person to person but from time to time.

I read that Atunes reopened on June 28 after being closed for 15 months. Does anyone here know how much it costs to buy a non-alcoholic drink there like water or orange juice?

Posts: 113Brief Visit to Santa Fe last night
My evening SA date flaked on me so I headed to Santa Fe. Again, I was disappointed. I had a blast in Santa Fe in October and January. But it seemed like slim pickings last night. The south stroll had nothing. There were a few attractive girls around the clubs but not many and I didn't see anything that made me want to take a seat at any of the bars. Several of my Venezuelan friends have returned home for one reason or another. I wonder if this accounts for the relative lack of talent. You would think the difficult times in Colombia would inspire more girls to take to Santa Fe. Maybe they are all on Seeking.
One other item of note: there were a lot more young men wandering around seemingly up to no good.

When you go up to higher altitude levels, the amount of 2,3 BPG goes up very quickly. Higher 2,3 BPG cause a red blood cell to have a decreased affinity for oxygen which sounds like you have less oxygen but that is not correct. With more 2,3 BPG, you have more available oxygen to use as it is not stuck to the red blood cell.
The amount of 2,3 BPG can vary a lot from person to person as there are conditions that can cause less or more of it. Higher thyroid for example means more 2,3 BPG and lower thyroid means lower levels.
Given that you can go hiking so quickly at Monserrate, it suggests to me you form high levels of 2,3 BPG very quickly and your cells have more oxygen available to them than the average person. Then you can to a lower altitude, you have lower levels of 2,3 BPG and have much less free oxygen running around which could cause fatigue.
Overweight people have higher levels of 2,3 BPG so it will be interesting to see if your weight loss has an effect. It might be worth having your doctor check your thyroid too.
I think I have a more normal response with my 2,3 BPG levels because when I have gone from Bogota to a city with a lower altitude I immediately feel better. It is interesting though that one of the reason Colombianas may be thinner than women in other countries is that you burn more calories at a higher altitude and there is going to be a different effect when you eat carbohydrates high up as well. There is a really good chance that people have less carb craving at higher altitudes because the carbs do not make you feel as good as at lower altitudes.
