So noticed an interesting phenominom compared to when I first got here. I used to head to Fiebre when I got here and not know any Spanish so I often found girls quoting 150 k for the session, which I'd have to negotiate down to 120 k. Since this is your maiden voyage, I recommend you avail yourself of verified providers from sites and places mentioned on this forum and others. And those verified from doncolombia dot com, not sure if I can ref that site here, not trying to break any rules. Doncol is my go to place for verified providers. Miller and other prepagos sites have so many fakes, and no-shows. You can waste a lot of valuable time.

It must be Santa Fe because Uber doesn't tell drivers the drop off point unless they mark on their system that they have picked up the ride so they don't know where are you going till they pick you up.

I was once in a situation where I had to get to JFK Airport to catch my flight and I was planning to take Amtrak from DC to New York. A train derailed that morning and all the trains got cancelled. Then all the buses got full. I had no option but to get an Uber. I tried that and one after another Uber driver turned me down. All of them got to where I was and as soon as they saw the destination on their system, they refused the ride.

I understand the analogy, but I don't think it's the best one here regarding distance between cities vs within. And also in Bogota vs the usa. I've had no issues the last 6 months getting an Uber to or out of Santa Fe no matter if it's 8 pm or 1:00 am. The drivers picking up are usually a lot of fun to talk to as well, since they know what you were up to. Data point is back and forth to central chapinero.

I think it's more about their ability to get other riders. I have no way of knowing, but I don't have issues between high volume / not magority residential locations. Also Uber in Colombia is a different model than the usa, so it's possible they see different things in Colombia. You are renting or leasing the driver here. In USA I believe the driver does get a notice that it's a greater than 45 minute ride.

The Uber problems I have is for my girlfriends that are very very north and like Carrera 90-100, and only after like 9 pm when I am getting them a ride home.

Makes sense, an Uber driver will come back from JFK to DC with 250 deadhead miles (aka empty; aka 4-6 hrs wasted; aka $ for gas for dead miles). Why would anyone accept that fare? Not sure how DC does it but had it been the other way around, NYC Taxi Limo Comm which regulates Uber drivers has a deadhead miles provision for rides starting in NYC. Would've hella expensive for your ride if you started out in NYC (only the 5 boros). This is not for NY state as a whole to be clear for those not familiar.

Getting to Santa Fe is usually the easy part as you're probably going there when there are a multitude of options (bus, taxi, ride share, walking) but getting back it helps to not be too intimidated by the small taxis driving all over the place.

When you get in there's usually some form of a tiny box with numbers somewhere around the roof of the car either on the passenger side or next to the driver. That's the fare cost. It never went higher than 7500 pesos for me when going from the clubs back to the ibis museo so I always had a 10 k note that I'the keep in a separate pocket for my ride home. If they're driving just stare at a driver as he's driving towards you and put your hand out. Others will wait outside the clubs. I got friendly with some meseros while there and they always got me a taxi when I let them know I was finished for the night. I got ripped off once but I knew it going in and didn't know enough Spanish nor did I care when the guy said it would be 20 k cop to do the same 7500 k cop ride. I didn't tip him obviously. Last tip is screenshot your hotel directions in google maps or whatever you use and screenshot the map of the road the driver needs to take. Some just plain don't know where the hotel is and you have to use hand gestures to tell them where to drive and some will look at your phone to know where to go. Screenshot it as sometimes depending on who you have for cell phone service it's f annoying when you don't have a signal and it takes forever yo get the directions on your phone for the driver.

Good post, JDS. Fiebre has Gatorade which is a nice change from the other clubs that have water only. I did the Woodman tour, and he is a great guy, but what I saw the most was that SF was really not that dangerous and Woodman confirmed it. There are cops all around.

Main danger I heard was getting your beer spiked. Like you, I am not a big drinker and think it is better to keep your wits about you when in SF.

Only other thing to say is you can get Uber to take you there, but it is hell getting one to come pick you up. I have leaned to go for the taxis when leaving but they tend not to be too bright with directions so I have had to use google maps.

For hotels, Ibis let me bring guests back, but the rooms are on par with Motel 6. I heard Hotel Oceania was nice but there was a guest fee, but my favorite hotel that is about a five minute cab ride away, the NH 26 urban royal. I am not sure about guests there, but the buffet and rooms are really nice.

That area also has an Anytime Fitness, only one in Colombia I think.

More so than in other mongering places, some of the Sg's also come into the clubs. Noticed that more in bar California / Texas and sometimes Venus than others. In addition many of the club girls rotate between clubs. I wouldn't recommend the salt cathedral. But I do recommend the trip to "El Dorado" lake. It is near Tomine dam about an hour from Bogota direction north. There is a 40 minutes guided hike available in English. Really nice trip. Loved it.
