1) Tequendema will work fine. Literally a 4 minute walk from there is the Ibis museo hotel. It's typically a few $ cheaper and is fine inside. Recent reports also indicate it's girl friendly. Either one its about a 15 minute walk to SF or just walk over to Avenida Caracas for the Transmilenio bus at Calle 26 and take it to Calle 22 if you don't want to walk. It's only about the equivalent of 50-60 us cents one way. You can also use this option in the evening hours as the Calle 22 stop will have a couple of police officers wandering around it. Not sure what time the last bus is so just check.

2) Paisas and Troya will probably keep you happy, however you're probably going to be slight dissapounted if you visit the clubs during the day. They don't really come alive .

I assume you're talking about the JW. Yes, I would argue. A couple key things. Do not register her as a 2nd guest. Never do that with anyone unless you trust them completely. Think about it. You register them, they can come to the hotel at anytime when you're not there and say they lost their key and need access to their room. They're registered. Hotel will give them a key to you room. They can enter at any time. If you do bring a girl to your room, you register her as a "visitor". Now the hotel is within its rights to charge a guest fee, which many do. You should have researched this before hand, but they should not charge you VAT if you're a tourist. They will need to photocopy your entry stamp.

If you do register someone as a guest who is a Colombian citizen, I've read that it is likely that you will be charged VAT on your full stay. You may be able to argue that she only stayed 1 or 2 nights, and depending on your negotiation skills you could possibly get charged VAT for only those 2 nights, but I usually try to avoid the situation altogether.

I'll second that. I know that happened to me before. This is especially true when they offer to meet you at the airport. Got to admit, not a lot of Colombian girls / women are that gutsy to pull it off but it already happened. I was surprised.

I figure I have to pay the VAT if I book the room for 2 and register a Colombian, but what if the booking is just for me and I have a girl or 2 visit for a few hours? Does the hotel taking their ID count as "registering" them? Should I dispute the VAT charge in that case, or maybe only dispute it if they're already charging a guest fee? I'd be pretty pissed if I get a surprise 20% tax on my total for a 1 week booking just for having a chica over for an hour.

Alright, I know people hate seeing these post. But fuck it, I will be in Bogota soon and looking for cliff notes. I can read, but why'all put too much value information that it's impossible to go through.

I do my part on these forums as well, so hopefully someone will be kind enough to give the quick notes or just read what I gathered so far and approve or reject. And why.

Should I stay at Hotel Tequendama? It's been spoken of a lot on websites, and its about $40 a night. Its in my range for $, but its farther from Zona Rosa, and I don't know if its truely guest friendly (or even if I should take girls up). Any suggestions for places to stay in Bogota, please give.

They don't really come alive until the evening after about 8/9 pm. Don't forget to check out Fiebre and Antones which on a Friday and Saturday night can sometimes be busier than Troya. There is a daytime bar called Atunes which may work for you. On a side note you'll be fine walking around at night. It's actually the best time. There are loads of safety tips but there very generic and common sense such as don't wear fancy jewellery, don't flash money around and don't get high or drunk to the point you don't know what you're doing.

3) I don't really get the whole bring a bg back to my hotel thing but I guess you can try. I understand that you'the do that with an escort but the bars all have rooms attached to bar so you only really need to take them to the room upstairs. Most services run about 20 minutes but if you want longer just ask. Last time I was there 40 minutes was basically the 20 minute price x 2 (80 k for 20 min and 160 for 40). If you feel as though you can't have a good time unless you're in a room I would just use common sense and honestly would just rent out a separate room / hotel for having bargirls and escorts to so you don't have to lock everything up.

4) it's a bit confusing about the money but mil in Spanish means thousand in English. Confusing huh LOL. So every bank note will say the amount and mil next to it. So when someone says 45 mil they don't mean 45 million but instead mean 45 thousand, which is about $10 USD. Typically here on the forum we'll just shorten it to say 45 k but others may use the term mil but just remember mil doesn't mean million and instead means thousand.

5) Haven't done the tour with woodman but everyone has commented positively about it. You should do it as it may help to dispel whatever fears you have about visiting the area after dark which is usually when it's the most fun and busiest both for sg action but also in the clubs.

I've yet to find a hotel I didn't have a fight with over some scammy extra tax policy. Best thing I can advise it to email them first and fight with them in advance.
