With $85 entry charge imposed on visitors from Canada, it is going to be expensive to visit Colombia multiple times in a year.

Does Colombia offer multiple entry visas good for few years?

There is a lot being said about paying girls for their services. What is absolutely true is that the average American visiting Colombia is driving the market upwards. A lot of it is down to the laziness and arrogance of wanting to only pay in USD. The girls see the USD and start pricing in USD which basically ruins it for everyone else. I know this from first hand from several girls in Bogota and Cartagena. Medellin is bound to be the same. The other thing is that a lot of gringos cannot speak a word of Spanish so they cannot barter for a good price and instead just settle for whatever the girl says. Back in 2019, girls were doing overnights for 400.000 COP and now they are demanding 200 USD min, but price in USD.

Do us all a favour, use local currency and be a bit more aware of the fact that you are in Colombia and not the US, so do not try to compare the two markets. One of the reasons why guys like punting in Colombia is because of the amazing value. The moment you start offering USD, you ruin it for everyone else.

What I was saying is that most pharmacies will sell you anything you ask for even if it is prescription only and you don't have a prescription. I've even been able to by opiate pain killers (hydrocodon) brand name dolex from just about any pharmacy in Medellin without a prescription eventhough it clearly says on the box "requiere receta medica".

Viagra (sildenafil) and Cialis (Taldalafil) are available in abundance without a prescription and for less than a dollar a pill. Quality generics are available from brands such as MK, Genfar, AG, and La Sante (the cheapest generic).

Also antibiotics such as azythromycin, doxycycline, antivirals such as valacyclovir, I have even ordered those thru rappi and had them delivered to me. Never once was I asked for a prescription eventhough they require a prescription. You just need the cash (efectivo).

Not sure if they have locations in Bogota but if you're ever in Medellin I recommend using this pharmacy Todo Drogas (see attached photo).

At many of the pharmacies in the SF area You can get pain killers like Codiene, Tramadol, for so cheap a bottle of Tramadol drops is 7 mil and the codeien iis. 30 a pill.

And antibiotics -- listed above-- very economical--I pay about. 55 for 50 MG Viagra -- also there is a great deal on 5 MG generic Cialis. Or 20 MG if you like-.

Also Testoviron in a pre-loaded syring 250 MG is about $9-.

Right. So she asks 200 k, that is $52 dollars and change today. So you offer her $50 and she takes it? If so, yep, you win. But if she asks 200 k and you offer her 150 k she might take that. Anyway. I think that lots of them have a good idea of the current exchange rate, and if not they probably won't want dollars anyway. But all moot point to me. I certainly can't offer Canadian dollars, not even in the US. No one has any idea and they simply refuse. Which I understand. Anyway, the whole thing with US dollars just seems like arrogance to me.

They can't spend it anywhere, and there's a huge glut of USD on the market right now due to Colombias #1 export being pushed so heavily, so they will have to wait in line at a money exchange rate to get a real shitty rate for it.

This means that. If they're not utter morons. They HAVE to charge a premium to accept those USD. It's a lose / lose really.

Just use the ATMs to get COP.

What noone seems to be mentioning here is you can still negotiate the price you want to pay in pesos then proceed to pay in the equivalent dollars. Don't bring only 100 dollar bills. Bring a bunch of 50 dollar bills and some 20's. Let the girls go exchange it. If a Casa girl quotes 120 k plus 80 k adicional for BBBJ. Give her a 50 dollar bill. Not rocket science.

If a centro girl quotes 80 k give her a 20 dollar bill. Lose way less money that way.

Let's see if am comprehending you right, in this post you say that you have never paid in US Dollars anywhere:

However in your previous post from Yesterday you stated that you recommend "going back to the USD" in other words, paying in dollars.

I recommend going back to USD, until the exchange rate goes back up.

How is this not giving bad advice? You should atleast have experience with something before you recommend others to do it. Paying for anything in Colombia with USD is not going to save anyone any money and it is not cheaper than using COP.

No need to be defensive. You pay too much and you know it. I remind you that the min legal wage in CO is 1 160 000 cop. That means that at the rate you pay, 2 sessions covers 1 month of basic salary. In no other country I visited, the ratio rato out of basic salary is so unfavorable. Bottom line, the usual 100 k cop 250 k cop remain largely well paid. Ideally price being below 100 k. There is a reason why locals pays low prices. You, you just contribute to messing up the market for local people and mindful foreigners. Rest assured that you are not the only culprit, others gringos have done that in MDE and Cartagena and then complaint endlessly on this same board. Alot of bad advice being given here on ISG. First of all if you are paying 500 k or 600 k then you are part of the problem.

These girls are only getting away with this shit because there are guys like you who are paying it. If you go back in time just a few years ago before the pandemic and before all the YouTube videos and subsequent passport bros and Makin' it rain motherfuxkers started showing up, (see recent video posted in Cartagena thread) none of these women were charging more than 200 k.

You coming down here paying 500 k or 600 k or even a "crisp $100 usd note" you are just enabling these women to rip you off. And I guarantee you that the local rolos are not paying these outrageous prices. $150 mil Is a generous amount for outcall and in the barrios with the locals that is more in line with the real prices, not your inflated gringo prices you quote that are fucking up the market.

Due to the many rookie guys going to Bogota this year I have seen a marked increase the amount the girls are asking of 500,600 cop and higher and I've seen an increase of them mentioning time limits too, something I never ran into before in Bog.

So by the time you change USD at the current exchange rate of 3,900 and you add in the vig of some 2000 per dollar your accepting 3700. And less if you add in the ATM charge so do the math how much your paying in cop 400,000 500,000 and even 600,000 and up, a crisp $100 bill is cheaper than pesos and some of these girls are not rocket scientist so, a US bill impressed them more that pesos. As stated above this is not recommended for SF and other casas but for chippers and non pros I recommend going back to USD, until the exchange rate goes back up.

Thanks for all the tips. I've been a few places around the globe that prefer US dollars so I wanted to check.

They may prefer the US dollar where there are restrictions on currency exchange and they get more with US dollars than the official exchange rate indicates. But that is not the case in Colombia. So no, there is no advantage to taking foreign currency and having to get it exchanged versus just getting paid in your own currency. Colombia's currency trades freely on the world market so anyone taking dollars is either trying to beat you on the exchange rate and take advantage of your ignorance, or perhaps just trying to make it easier for you to pay them to get the money if you don't have pesos. But you're not likely to get any deals.
