Three times with almost 4 since January of this year in centro this has happened, now they respect me and know not to fuck with the Tall Man and think twice about fucking with any gringo who they may pass.

I am on a much higher alert as my good buddy was drugged this past Monday night from a Tinder girl he invited to his apartment in Medellin. My head is on a swivel.

My guess is that Phone was not unlocked. Sim was put into another phone and then used to gain into Rappi account. I wonder if Rappi doesn't have password like Whatsapp doesn't have password?

It's probably a stupid question but I am going to ask anyway. Can you actually save applications to the SIM card memory, I thought it was reserved for contacts and owners info? I thought all apps were supposed be in the cellphone RAM, so in order to get access to those apps, one would need the PIN. I am thinking dude was probably in the process of using the phone when they snatched it out of his hands, so phone had been unlocked the whole and they never let the phone go on lock mode.

Popping a sim card gives no access to a locked phone. Otherwise what's the point of locking if simply popping the sim card is going to open the phone up.

The phone was locked. They popped out the sim, reset my rappi and ordered that way. Rappi already reversed the charges, but I didn't even know you can order cash thru rappi. I saw the orders coming thru on my Email. I had already canceled the SIM and got a new one shipped but I think the phone company had a delay and it was in that delay time that they were able to get orders in. Not everything was delivered to them. I'm waiting to get my new sim so I can login and see if I can see the address it shipped to.

I had my phone in my hand briefly to check something, a man from behind pushes me then snatches it out of my hand, I run after him and he hops on a bike. It was like a movie. Total pros that were most likely watching me.

I locked my phone and had icloud locate it later that night. They managed to take the sim out and order almost a $1,000 worth of Rappi. I have to disbute the charges with my bank before the go thru, it still says pending so I have to wait til they post.

I have all the info, the location the phone was found, address it was delivered to and their phones IMEI number. My Colombian friends here say that it is a waste of time to go tot he police station nd report it, however I have all this evidence perhaps if I outline it all clearly they can make some moves. Good luck with the cops. It sucks, but those dudes had you pegged from the start. It's all about how you present yourself, especially in big cities. If you look like a target, you'll be a target. Personally, I've never had any issues over the past four years. But, I don't look like an old lanky gringo, more like the guy who will rip your arm off and beat you to death with it. If I were you, I'd listen to your friends and cut your losses. Call it the price of tuition for a lesson learned.

I agree with you, even in any big city in the US, cops will not waste their time tracking tracking a phone unless major injuries or death are involved.

I can't believe people put themselves in this situation, always travel with a cheap phone with a fake WhatsApp number and apps on it. Keep your main phone with banking apps locked away. A decent cheapo phone is a 100 euros.
