Yep, I loved ordering an uber in my airbnb with the exact location. I needed to be in and the exact money to be charged. No change, didn't have to carry smaller bills, didn't have to worry about being scammed, no confusion on where to go, AND it wad usually cheaper than the taxis. Maybe the drivers will move on to lyft or some other app.

Last time I came to Bogota I took a trip up to Chapinero and was disappointed in what I saw. This time I gave it another try. I started off at El Padrino, and went north up to Calle 86 a. Lalo's appears to be closed. Anyways, the gist of these clubs appear to be that you get to sit down and talk with the girls, since they're supposed to be more educated. But for someone who doesn't speak Spanish, I'm not really sure if there's any real appeal. OK so they're in a safer area than SF, but the girls weren't that much better than the ones you'd find in SF, which confirmed what I saw last time. On the other hand, they're charging 3 x-4 x the price.

In Medellin there's Fase Dos, which is a higher end strip club. I thought at least one of the clubs in Chapinero was going to be like this, but I didn't find one. The ones I poked my head in were just full of girls lounging around, not doing anything. So given that I can't do anything but a Google Translate conversation with the girls, and that I'm comfortable with SF, these clubs seem to offer little value to someone who's in a similar situation as me.

I totally agree compared to Santa Fe the other areas are either overpriced or bad quality.

It's a lot easier for me to hail a cab and take 15 seconds to tell the guy where I'm going and pay him a little cash. I was pointing out the ridiculousness of having to use a phone AND a credit card just to pay for a simple ride. The more a person uses technology as a crutch, the more common sense they lose. Keep it straightforward. I don't even bring a phone when I travel. I like to explore on my own, and talk to the locals for info, rather than following a digital map and looking things up. It's amazing how you can build a street network that way. I've done it in many countries. But, I suppose that's the difference between a traveler and a tourist.

I was looking at getting out and seeing Bogota a bit more. I have done the gold museum and was looking at doing a bike tour and food tour. Is there any other must things to do in Bogota from a tourist perspective?

There are other museums worth visiting. Botero museum in "la cancelaria" is very nice and free. Around Bogota you can visit "el dorado lake" it is a small lake that according to the legend it was used by cacique (tribe leader) for a ceremonial ritual in which he would dip all covered in gold. Is about an hour north and there is a nice hike with a guide available in english. In the south there is a nice water fall call "el salto del tequendama" just a nice view.

Kib123, helpful report thanks. I've always found a good spinner at Mezzannie despite the cramped rooms so I'll checkout Princesitas. Too bad to hear that ZonaRosa places were subpar, any in particular? Last year I hit Colorin a few times and was quite happy with the spinners there.

I have to agree with KTed on this one. Whenever a new technology or option comes out, people feel they just have to use it. We're talking about getting from point A to be, it's not that complicated. Forget Uber, put away your phone, and hail down a cab. Tell him the address you're going to, or write it down if it makes you feel better. Get in the cab and go. And, if you can't speak basic Spanish, wait until you learn at least that much before coming to Colombia. As a side note, not to get on anyone's case, but if a person walks around Colombia with only 50 mil banknotes, they're a fool. When you go to the casa de cambio, always get a mix of bills. This is basic traveling.
