Why are guys always looking for a safe for their laptop? How do you not realize some chick walking out with your computer? I have been an extended visitor to Bogota and other cities in Colombia for many years but predominantly Bogota. I have lived with the locals in south and seen first hand the muggings and thefts her family went thru over and over and how the dangerous of Bogota has escalated since the influx of very desperate and dangerous Venezuelans arrived. Nothing against Venezuelans, just the robbers. First, I know Woodman, he's ok just trying to make a buck but he does have a bit of a cavalier attitude toward SF, as does a lot of the mongers who like SE. It's not safe, as lots of areas in Bogota. It can happen in a flash, crowds around is not a guarantee of safety, they will NEVER intervene on your behalf. My girl was in El Centro, coming down the ramp from the transmilenio, lunch time, around 1 pm when a large black Venezuelan man suddenly blocked her path, with a very LARGE knife. Forced her to open her backpack right in the middle of the crowd as he took everything, cut her on the side of her face and broke her glasses. This is probably her 5th cell phone loss and 7 or 8 muggins as well as 7 or 8 muggins suffered by the rest of the family. Including her dad, a Taxi driver and x bus driver, who was shot in the head and was in a coma for 4 months. These are people who have lived in Bogota their entire life. Very street smart but still fall victim. What chance do you think you have if they zero in on you? None that's what. Be careful, assume everyone around you or at the reception desk or security is out to get you. Most are good humble hardworking people but you must assume you are a target.

The multiple police / security personnel at the Calle 22 bus stop didn't do anything. Hmm.

Hmm. There are some posters here that we should not hang out together. They "know" people that are constantly mugged / robbed / scoped etc multiple times.

OK. I know this girl who's my regular. She constantly texts me that her phone got stolen, her place got damaged by the earthquake, etc. And needs money. She has a whole list of gringos in her contacts (I saw it; LOL!)

Interesting that a lot of people only hears about all these stories. Never actually sees it. Just saying.

As if the police or security people at a bus stop would even see it let alone do anything. I've been on lots of these platforms and never saw police let alone would expect them to be close enough to do anything if someone pulls a knife. Anyway, yes, it is a story. But I have personally met several people that have been scoped, for example, in Colombia. And as a percentage of the people I know in a given place Colombia is much much more dangerous than Costa Rica or Mexico or any other places where I know people.

This is a span of 1. 5 hrs but home before mid night. I had to get taxi money in my room!

They were professional enough not to leave any marks on my person and put back my belt and shoes and escort me out by the bus area with my metro card to figure out and get aware to get home. They left me my expired driverlicense. , Room key, passport copy with emergency numbers and virginity.

Today Oct 3 is a new day onwards to Chapinero secret houses. Chau.

Wow that's intense I guess I'll be away from that club if I go alone!! Do they ask you for ID at the entrance? And I definitely stay away from shots at the club and stick with beer that's opened in front of me.
