    Totally! Everyone is different.

Just checked the altitudes I've been to. It's kinda fun. From NYC, altitude what? Zero?

Landed in Cusco (11,152) and thought I'd die within the next few minutes. My buddy (heart problems and older than me, in his mid-50's back then) couldn't grasp what I was talking about.

Boarded the train to Machu Picchu. Disemabarked in Aguas Calientes (6,693). Totally fine.

Next morning went up to Machu Picchu (7,972). Felt the "squeeze" somewhat, tiredness when climbing, but nothing major.

Stayed for a couple of days in Ollyantaymbo (9,160). Surprisingly, didn't feel a thing.

Rode a car to Pisak market (9,751). Quite a squeeze, but no headache.

Finally went back to Cusco for a couple of days. Major squeeze, major headaches on the day 1. Was actually scared to go to bed that night because it felt like I might fail to breathe deep enough. Next morning woke up fresh and ready. The headacke's gone, the squeeze is gone, lots of energy.

And all this time, my buddy is, like, stop fucking around. Never even felt it one bit. .

So, I don't know. I'll be in Bogota next month. Will find out.

    My Experience

Mind you, I visit Taos, NM on an annual basis to visit family. Taos is right at 7000 feet and I never noticed any problems there except a little shortness of breath walking upstairs to the guest bedroom. There is an oxygen lounge near where I stay and apparently some visitors need it there. But, I've never noticed any sickness at 7000 feet so I wonder if Bogota at 8600 is going to be a problem.

Any insights would be welcome. Also curious if a few days in Medellin at nearly 5000 feet would be a helpful before moving on to Bogota.
I spent 5 nights there and came from Florida which is basically like living in water. Ha! I had a terrible headache and no appetite which are normal symptoms of moderate / mild altitude sickness my entire stay. I totally forgot when I arrived about the altitude but then grabbed some ibuprofen which definitely helped. I was never right the entire time and think I was just starting to adjust the day I left. It didn't help probably since I did walk too much my first few days since that is what you do when visiting a new place and soaking it all in. And I was sweating like crazy since with my jacket and jeans on although it was like 65 degrees. The first night I arrived I was all excited to head out but my body just couldn't function and with the headache I crashed right to sleep.

So I did some reading up for a next visit and from what I found everybody is just different, but if you've been in higher altitudes before and didn't get any symptoms you should maybe make out better as you're just one of the lucky ones or your body is used to living in a higher altitude. I'm a bit concerned of returning for that reason and instead planning a Cartagena visit next time.

But, although I felt that terrible and still drank my alcohol and beers while staying up to 3 am every night, I managed to go out every night and call in for fun with the escorts although some of it's a bit fuzzy and I ended up having to sleep more than I would have liked! If you don't drink there are prescription drugs to help I've read or just do continuous daily dosing of ibuprofen to help with the symptoms. Sounds like you'll be fine though if have done the 7000 feet thing already and managed, but it is another 1600 feet and maybe that's your bodies breaking point. Incremental steps up to higher altitude is the best way to adjust. Or just say that and use it as an excuse to visit Medellin.

Have fun if that helps you at all.

    Divas Spa Carrera 9 a #61-57

Fella's, visited this place twice http://divasprepago.com/ easy to find and had 5 girls on both times I visited, all girls were very lickable. Price quoted was 150 k for the basic full service and massage (1 hour) with extras on top to lick down under was 50 k more. I used Uber from my hotel and the establishment has wifi so I Uber'd back to my place, without using the shifty cabs.

Use ATM machines! Best exchange rates and you don't have to worry about whether you're getting fake bills or getting a loss on the exchange rate. Stick to the larger bank ATMs like BanColombia, BancoBogota, CitiBank, BBVA, etc. Davivienda might also work. Otherwise, you can always find a Western Union to change money. Not sure how local change houses compare with WU, but at least you know its legit and safe. I also recently started sending myself a bit of money via WU. I figured this is a good backup in case anything goes sideways and I get robbed or run out of money. I think you can only send yourself under $500. But yeah, that's another option. Exchange rate at WU seems pretty close to market rate. You can always check it online by going through most of the steps to send yourself money.

    Best.
If you do a search you can find all the references to the place. It is worse than I thought. A couple of months ago BM Tacoma101 posted a rate of 450K http://www.internationalsexguide.inf...=1#post2154673.

Rereading my report from 2 and a half years ago the chick started at 150K but quickly accepted 100K. http://www.internationalsexguide.inf...=1#post1788785.

Help Planning my Bogota trip for January 2019

    1. How does mongering in Colombia differ to the DR where it is quite open and point click?

    2. What options do I have if I don't like nightclubs or partying and staying up until the early hours of the morning?

    3. Casa, strip clubs, facebook or dating websites? Which is best? I know a little Spanish and have lessons weekly so I'm always improving.

    4. Incall or outcall? I like relaxing in my own place and prefer to get the girls back to mine

I always dress casual - pants & tee shirt and roam all over. Bottom feeding you know.

This time I'm going to learn the transit system.

Question: Is there any trick to shorten the altitude adjustment period. Pills etc?

Also, where is the best place to change $ to pesos on Bogot?

Nowadays, since 2012 I spend my time in medellin and very seldom need to travel to Bogota.

Your style may not be for everyone but like they say whatever floats your boat. Have fun!

But, for the sake of simplicity, do you recommend grabbing a room there in Santa Fe for the day, or just take a cab there? Because I don't live there I might have the urge for more than one session. For the first few days before the being an old man sets in.
You can get a room, there are many cheap hotels outside and inside the red-light area. Also Great AirBnBs in Teusaquillo.
