2. What options do I have if I don't like nightclubs or partying and staying up until the early hours of the morning?

Its been a couple of years. Spent most of my time in Cali, Manaus and Kingstown. Lets swap stories.

When in Bog I stay at the Santa Fe hotel near Atunes. I always have fun in Bog.

I always dress casual - pants & tee shirt and roam all over. Bottom feeding you know.

This time I'm going to learn the transit system.

Question: Is there any trick to shorten the altitude adjustment period. Pills etc?

Also, where is the best place to change $ to pesos on Bogot?

Even 25 years ago on my first visit to Bogota and then numerous stays in Bogota from 2008 to 2012 it ALWAYS takes my body 5 days to get adjusted to the altitude. I recall trying different over the counter pills but resorted to taking easy, trying to get enough rest and daily aspirins is the best I could do then wait 5 days.

Nowadays, since 2012 I spend my time in medellin and very seldom need to travel to Bogota.

Your style may not be for everyone but like they say whatever floats your boat. Have fun!

Thanks for the input and the photo. I've done Medellin and ready to do Bogota before the year is over. But, for the sake of simplicity, do you recommend grabbing a room there in Santa Fe for the day, or just take a cab there? Because I don't live there I might have the urge for more than one session. For the first few days before the being an old man sets in.

You can get a room, there are many cheap hotels outside and inside the red-light area. Also Great AirBnBs in Teusaquillo.

I have lived in Bogota for 7.5 yrs been to SF hundreds of times. It is safe as long as you don't act stupid. The best time to go is 8-12 pm Tue-Sat --I would not go there 2-4 am probably not as safe.

I also visited night club Texas yesterday where the offer was form 30.000.

I am a 20+ years resident in Bogota and love Santa Fe more than anywhere else.

Counted 130 street girls yesterday.

I've been to both Medellin and Cartagena and loved both experiences. I've got to both alone and never felt like I wasn't safe (I don't dress flashy and can blend in as I have south american looks). I was wondering if Santa Fe is dangerous for a solo traveler at night. And if so. Is 8 pm - 11 pm safer than 2 am - 4 am? Does it not matter? Seems people like to fear monger (which gets in the way of the better kind of mongering LOL). Thankful for any counsel from the wise ones.

Santa fe was rocking last night.

Being the day before a public holiday it was as busy as a Friday.

There were over 100 girls in the street.

I spent most of my time in Azules, next door to Atunes. Lots of girls giving lap dances completely nude and allowing touching everywhere at only COP10.000.

Around 20 girls, mostly in the 20-30 age range. All slim and hot. All fair skinned, so not the place to go if you like darker skinned ladies.

I was quoted COP40.000 for a short time.

If there is anyone in Bogota who would be able to pay a subscription for me I will gladly pay in you $ or peso equivalent and offer a tour of Santa fe.

A lot of guy stay at Ibis Museo (girl friendly) that is 10 minutes walk from Santa Fe. Also Tequendama (More expensive- Not girl friendly).

Also Hotel Dann Avineda 19. Many great AirBnB in the area too.

You may want to check flight prices yourself. I've seen MDE to BOG for as low as $25 each way. The taxi ride from and to MDE airport can be a pain and will add a chunk to the cost.

I'm planning on being in Medellin starting July 11. I will be staying in Laureles. I can say I have been to Medellin and Bogota. I prefer Medellin much more. I have also been to SEA and other places. MDE is my favorite of all.
