Scheduling first trip to Colombia for a long weekend in Dec. I have read through the reports here but am still not clear. Can anyone give me some orientation in Bogota that where to stay in a good area with reasonable budget, where to eat, to change money, to move around and meet the girls. Is good Spanish a must? Thanks a lot. Anybody wants to hang out, first beer is on me.

"Good area with reasonable budget". That is all relative, reasonable budget means different things to different people. Meet girls? Civilians or professionals? Where to eat? Looking for what, good restaurants? Change money, that one is easy, use the ATMs, good Spanish is very helpful and necessary depending io where you go, what you want to do.

The most important thing you need to know is that Bogota can be dangerous, if you are alone and not familiar with where to go, and not to go. A lot depends on you, how comfortable, adventurous, (some may say dumb), "foreign looking" you are, how you dress, etc.

Here is a tip. Bogota streets are either "Carreras" which are sequentially numbered and run roughly from South to North (lower numbers are South) and "Calles" which are equally sequentially numbered and run roughly from East to West (lower numbers are East.) The North East side of the city from calle 72 upwards, and Carrera 15 (AKA Avenida Caracas) eastward is relatively safe, the more South you go, the more dangerous it is.

As you can probably figure out, the "safe" quadrant of the city, is where the bulk of better known restaurants, hotels and bars are located, and of course is more expensive than the rest of the city, so it may be the area you are looking to stay, based on the limited information you provided.

I'm in Orlando in early February and am thinking maybe about a trip south. I've a couple hundred words of Spanish tops and never been south of Mexico. What do you guys think is the best place to go? I kinda enjoy cruising street workers, don't like discos, am OK with parlours.

Direct flights from Orlando go to Santo Domingo (DR), Bogota, San Jose (CR), Guadalajara and Mexico City so I suppose that's the shortlist.

Cruising for street workers without spanish is a bad idea anywhere in Colombia.

Based on your limited experience South of Mexico, I would say the best place to start is San Jose, the monger scene is good, relatively localized within a 5 mile radius, girls are easy to find, and most important is relatively much safer than Bogota (but still need to be careful) and English is more spoken. My opinion anyway.

I read your post and wanted to give you some feedback based on my experience. I would definitely try to stay near park 93, or the zona T area as its walking distance to some main restaurants, shops and bars. In Bogota you have to be relatively careful every where you go, but in case you need to call a cab, make sure they give you the license plate or the car number and verify its correct before you get on. Eating: in those two areas you'll find plenty of restaurants, also shopping malls where to exchange money. If you would like an outcall service contact massagesinbogota dot com. I have an up coming layover in Bogota from 2:00 to 10:00 pm. Paradise Spa is close by, any first hand reports? I would like to spend 2 or 3 hours in a nice place, getting the deluxe treatment, before my 13 hour international flight. Any suggestions?

There are quite a few scams like this in Bogota and Medellin and the majority are British, Austrailian, German, and American. Never trust anyone you do not know with money no matter what they offer or how "legit" it seems. These douche bags are a dime a dozen and they use medias like this to do business as well. You can also find these guys in the local ads as well as ad sites. Pathetic that these parasites exist and prey on good people.

I've gotten some PMs from concerned members considering business with Aunsa, so I figure it appropriate to update. AUNSA HAS STILL NOT RETURNED MY $400 USD. Strangely, he has emailed me occasionally, promising he will get it to me "tomorrow", but this has happened several times over a period of weeks and still no money. I would recommend against trusting him with money based on my experience.

I have been traveling to Bogota for about a month now on business. I had read through forum posts and PM'ed Aunsa to meet up for some beers per one of his posts. We hung out a few times, he showed me around the spots in Sante Fe and some other areas. He seemed to know the areas well, spoke both Spanish and English, and was about the same age as me, and all seemed cool.

After a week or so, he asked me if I was interested in attending a "playboy mansion-style" party at a house outside of Bogota that would include food, drinks and 25 girls, for which he needed a payment + deposit of $400 USD. We had some back and forth discussion, and I agreed to attend (and paid him the $400 in cash. See "receipt" he gave me attached. Does not include the $100 deposit he requested afterwards), and I even cancelled a weekend trip to Peru to attend the "party".

Aunsa said he would be providing me transportation, as he did not provide me the actual address of the party. When the day of the party came around, Aunsa did not answer his phone. He sent me a text that the party would be the next day instead. Then when the next day came, Aunsa still would not answer my calls, and sent me a text that he would return my money the following day. The following day came and went, still Aunsa would not take my calls, and just sent me texts that money was on its way.

Now yet another day has come and gone (after more texts promising that the money would be there today). Aunsa still has not taken any of my calls, although he sent an email with some explanation, and now he is out of town again, however, I still have not gotten my money back, and I will be going home tomorrow.

I expect that working girls will try to hustle me, but I did not this from a Senior member at ISG. I have met others before and nothing like this has ever happened to me. I suppose given the circumstances, I should have known better, but hopefully this post will serve other ISG members and prevent Aunsa from conning them too. If he does return my money, I will re-post to let the board know.

So I read about the various places to frequent around Zona T. But for those who have been their lately. What would you recommend. I'll be checking out Atunes but only if Zona T is useless.

Looks like recreating my Peru experiences is going to be easy.

I don't usually do much of the by the hour business.

Prefer more of 24-48 HR type of thing. Restaurant. City sites. Odd shopping.

So I got a couple Chicas lined up over the holidays, some skype calls so far and they're eager to meet me. One has great English. One not a word of it. LOL. I'm sure they're eager as I tend to over pay. So at the risk of being bashed here for how stupid I am (yes I know $11 usd per day is common wage) I welcome comments to the effect that I pay $400/ day / night / etc for their time. Mind you we all have the right to do what we want and these are not worn out pros but local girls going to school / uni.

Question. I have been to Medallin a few times and stay at the Mansion. Are there any places similar to this where the girls are there and the rooms are nice and maybe pool and bar on sight? Girls there are about 150 k for a few unrushed hours. If nothing such as this exists. What would be the next best thing such as a close nice hotel to stay in and some close by spots to check out action and bring a girl back?

Also. I know this seems contradicting. But are there any dating agencies or places to introduce you to marriage minded girls? I have a crew of guys coming with us so some intentions are different but pretty sure everyone will be ok to check both options out.
