Hello! I'd like to share a bad experience I had at Texas (Santa Fe).

May it remind you to always check the prices, especially in "shady", non regular business.

Basically they ripped me off, they made me pay 70.000 for 2 beers. I caught them trying to serve me more drinks I didn't ask for and had to physically stop them to open the bottles.

I tried to argue with my basic Spanish but of course it was useless.

I could feel the situation escalate so I just left the money on the counter and quickly left, not worth to be assaulted over this.

In the end it wasn't much money, but be wary about this kind of things, I never had any problem in 4 months totals in Colombia so I dropped my guard down..

Yes-- it is a good idea to ask prices-- This kind of rip-off happens in Texas and California clubs more often-- And it only happens to gringos.

Some have more problems than others-- I believe I read here that it happened in Troya-.

If you had refused you could have paid less without much problem-.

Regular Beers in Reality are 8 mil -- typically the waiters say 10 mil-.

I am getting ready for my 1st trip to Bogota. A lot of help from the many posts and others answering my questions, scheduling my Woodman tour. I will be coming from Wed to Sunday in June. I will be going to the Santa Fe clubs a lot. I will stay at Hotel Tequendema or maybe Chapinero. A few weeks ago I noticed a new venue right next to tantra run by the same place. It's called Tantra bar and it has a casa layout. Says they are open 2 hours later and they serve booze. I've been twice and quoted 60 k for medio. First time didn't include bbj and I was so used to not negotiating at Tantra that I didn't ask. Second time I negotiated some extras and got bbj without asking. No rooms on premise, so you walk outside and use Tantras rooms.

There are some pretty cute girls there. But not so different from Tantra. So given how many girls are at Tantra and the no negotiating needed for bbj, I'm not clear of the benefit yet.
