Posts: 662good advice, but one problem
Dwayne, I of course completely agree with but there is one potential problem and it basically depends on how much luggage you are carrying and how expensive something inside that luggage might be.
if you have some big suitcases and are carrying valuables, then in the larger scheme of things, one can bite the bullet and get fucked in the usual airport taxi scam.
but speaking of taxis, one of the most commonly used phrases here is about "...Clinica de Amor (every taxi will know where it is)..."
since many of the sex tourists, aka "serious mongers" stay at the Apthotel Rio, I think it would truly be amusing, (and even more so for the Colombian taxista) to take a taxi from there to one of the casas, including that one, when a person with a good arm can probably hit the place with a rock.
Most of them should walk the block or two to that place and many others. I suspect they need the exercise.

If you've been to Cali more than once I would recommend to not take the taxis but rather a collectivo. Taxis from the airport are very expensive. Basically they have a fixed rate from the airport to the bridge into Cali and then turn on the meter once they pass over the bridge. I think the rate to the bridge is $32,000 COP so you really can't get anywhere for less than $35,000.
In contrast you can take a collectivo from the airport, which are always available, and it is less than $4,000 (don't recall if it is 3200 or 3400). If you know where you are going along the route then they will drop you off, get dropped off and take a taxi, or you could wait un hit the terminal and then take a taxi from there. Typically you'll save yourself about $30,000.
For me it's less about the actual $$ and more about traveling like a local and not feeling like I'm getting ripped off because at $30k plus for a relatively short taxi ride it is way too expensive.
Cheers,
Dwayne

Posts: 662good to know on the taxi front
airport taxis are almost always a scam, it´s good to see an upfront system. thanks.
as to CCS upper end gyms, I went to a few and quickly ran like hell because the pricing was outrageous, and the equipment sucked for what I wanted and needed it for. Lots of posers.
that´s why I joined a hard core gym at a student price LOL.
the true places where the real real upper classes hang out in Caracas bring new meaning to the idea of stuck up. The only interesting thing is that in Venezuela, unlike almost everywhere else in Latin America, being a gringo among intellectuals and upper classes and old money does NOT work against you.

Just came back from my Cali/ San andres trip 16 days of paradise. One thing I noticed that has changed since I was there earlier this year for the Feria. The Taxis you board from the Airport go to the guard tower and get a standard tariff issued. They ask where you are going and issue a reciept stating how much you should be charged. This will guarenty you will not get ripped of. I have experienced first hand taxi drivers know you are not from Colombia and try to charge you extra. Once I took a cab from the airport to my girlfriends house they tried charging me 50,000 Col. My girlfriend apporached the taxi driver and asked what he was trying to pull. The taxi driver agreed on 35,000.
This trip to my girls house because of the mandated charge this time came to 31,500. This is great for us tourists. Also its safer since if something happens the gate before exiting the airport takes the license plate number of the taxi.
I think this is a good system the city Palmira came up with.
For those of you that dont know the Airport by Cali is not in the city of Cali the airport is in the city of Palmira.

in a place like Caracas, the so called 9´s 10´s are going to have Venezuelans with money after them (and there are plenty who have it). Those Venezuelans will be smoother and bring more to the table than the so called rich gringo, especially an old one, so a so called gringo cannot effectively compete.
but it´d be a mistake to say the CCS scene ends for someone at 30. Depends on you and how you look. The Venezuelan vanity culture extends to men a little more than in does in Colombia so the competition can be stiff.
If your a weekend tourist in Santiago, well you can forget it.

I dont want to take too much space on Cali forum talking about Caracas but for me the chase is as much fun as the actual sexual act. The game and the wooing is more exciting sometimes than the act. If you are really interested in Caracas take a look at my postings from about 3, 4 years back on Caracas with some pics in TSM and WSA. They are quite extensive, not sure why i didnt post them here on ISG at the time, i think there was a problem with this database at the time??? Check out Rockman's report as well for reference. Before he married a former miss Colombia contestant, I convinced him to go to Caracas just to take a look/ bacholor party. Rockman is infamous for chasing only the highest class and he left satisfied and ready to get married.. You can use these references to decide if that place is for you.
But back to Cali....
Theres a wealth of experience on this board as far for Cali. And everyone seems to be saying Cali is the way to go, so would trust their judgement on this one. Alot of guys here have vast Caracas experience but yet Cali is on our mind so that should tell you something. Everyone here have a ton of contacts for whatever your looking for so I would use these resources to your advantage. I'm not aware but am sad to hear that safety has taken a turn for the worst in Cali. But i dont believe violence has struck anywhere near Granada where i stayed.

RHay is (in)famous for chasing specifically that kind. Different strokes for different folks. I would agree it´s a waste of time, given you have all these 7´s and 8´s around without the attitude, etc that the so called 9´s and 10´s bring. (but like I said different strokes etc).I would also say that many if not most of these so called 9´s and 10´s have already had various degrees of plastic surgery and I hate plastics.

As far as chicas, IMHO, I've never seen so many hot hot chicas than in Caracas. From experience though, and like Rob Hay says, they are not as approachable as the Calena.
Colombianas in general are more down to earth than the Venezolana in my experience, and the PFP is cheaper in Colombia generally.
It's not a rule though, cause I've had some sweet sweet Venezuelan novias too, and have found some great PFP, especially in Maracaibo.
If I had to choose a visit, I'd pick Medellin or Cali over a visit to Caracas these days. The country (Colombia) and the cities are much more user friendly.
Fortunately, I have to visit both for work :)
But, I just met the prettiest chica from Barranquilla, her dad is from Bogota and her mom a costena from Barranquilla ... a great combo she is ... and a cool chica too.
I'm off to Barranquilla pronto!
Suerte amigos!

The girls I was hooking up with in Caracas had a very Medellin type of look about them but there are all different types in Caracas and you can see the different types at the Sambil. But Caracas is a place you have to be young to be in the scene (20s). Theres no advantage in being a rich older guy there, maybe a disadvantage really. And those two places I mentioned are where the novella stars frequent and they usually wont let you in unless your with eye candy. I was frequentling Caracas a few years ago but now that I have hit the ripe age of 30 this scene may have passed me by. Cali is a place where you are ageless...
The nonpro scene in Caracas takes work and after doing the Cali thing I dont think your gonna want to work that hard again. That place is like South Beach, if your games takes you far there then you'll most likely be fine in Caracas but there very little advantage in being a gringo with money.
My opinion is spend your time in Cali...... you may not like what you find in Caracas.

how is the general look in Caracas compared to Cali i.e. darker/lighter, taller/shorter, more indian make up/more european?
If there are triguenas/canela there. I will pass by after I do BAQ and Cali. I love that tanned skin and long jet black hair look like in Cali.

Yes there are more Super Estrellas in Caracas than in any other Latin America city I've been to but there are more cute non pros in Cali than anywhere in LA and most of them will give you an opportunity to get your 30 second pitch off. If your going to go hang out Loft or Vintage in San Ignacios mall you'd better be decent looking, have money to spend and have game or else this place may not be for you. Though if you are in Caracas do check out the Sunday brunch at the Tamanaco Intercontinental.
I've spent plenty of time in alot of Latin American cities and IMHO, Cali is the best place in the region for nonpros. The safety of the city, beauty and warmth of the girls, economic value, and the sheer overabundance of girls(10+ females: 1 male) makes Cali the greatest city in the world for a single man. And a divorce waiting to happen for a married man. I have fond memories of chicas of Caracas too but its not the same
Ricker your the man and all and your the one whos posts convinced me to go to both Cali and Caracas but I'd have to take Cali over just about any other city in latin america
