    Hi Jeff,

Been to Cali twice before just want to stay safe, Last time I was there was walking in a bad part of centro with another monger past the sleazy adulult theater past scary sws and pimps saying shit at us to some of the clubs with girls, my friend said we could walked another way from behind to get there but I wanted to see as much sleaze as possible, I will be safe when I get there again, Thanks.

Colombians protest all of the time over different issues. They gather in these downtown areas to protest. Some of the poor areas can become crazy also. If I had a current trip planned and was staying in downtown I would relocate into an upper middle class area. In Medellin one can find rooms for similar or slightly above downtown rates in areas such as Belen. Much less air pollution and riff raff also. If you are insistent on staying near downtown just use common sense and be a little more alert than normal and you should be fine. The same applies for Cali as city dynamics are similar to Medellin. Ok other news I heard they planning another big strike in Colombia September 12th should I get there before that date? If any one knows for about two weeks they been striking bad in Colombia, most of the violence has been in the Bogota area or south of Cali going towards Ecuador the protesters held bus hostages broke windows too.

Then I heard up near Medellin the 'police were robbing campesinos. Manizales was no violence just paning of pots and truck horns but that was days ago.

Ok I wait here on the response,

I'd say the worse time is semana santa Thursday thru Sunday, then New Years day for a week or so.
Thanks Rick, this is good, valuable info to know for members planning a p4p vacation.

For what its worth, if your only timeslot-option to get out of sexprison is during Christmas / NY, a better option would be asia.

Thailand is always booming with action and there will be plenty of options to rock your socks off 24/7.

If the flight is to long for you, try get to Colombia the week before Christmas. Many girls looking for extra income to buy their Christmas gifts.

    Regards, Ken Apples

After la Feria, Cali is dead. Ironically, starting N. Year's Eve everything really quiets down. I think the Calenos are exhausted after five days of hard partying (plus a few weeks in preparation for la Feria). However, pay-for-play will be just fine after the Festival.

Organismo. I'm envious that you're there during that time. It's an incredible experience. I haven't heard who'll be playing this year, but they always have great bands. And the Chicas really let loose. I haven't been to the Festival of Flowers in MDE, but I imagine it's the same vibe.

    Well actually, I misspoke.

I personally have found around mid December to be the most fun, then from Christmas to New Years to be fun with the Feria, shows, private parties, etc.

Trust me though, AFTER New Year's eve it is dead.

If you are at all interested in Afro-Latin Music and Dance, I highly recommend going during that time. I went in 2011 and had an outrageous time. In 5 nights, I saw El Gran Combo, Grupo Niche, Lebron Bros, Sonora Poncena, and Los Van Van. That is a Who's Who of all-time great Salsa Bands. And again, Chicas were incredibly friendly.
OK, that's what I want to hear, thanks. Los Hermanos Lebron is one of my all-time favorites and I'm actually going to see La Sonora Ponceņa tomorrow in NYC. I'd rather focus on the nons and use p4p to fill the gaps if necessary.

Anyone planning to be down there during this time?

This is also my understanding. There is still La Piscina and La Piscina del Dia in Bogota, both of which I would recommend highly.
