I took taxis 5 times in my last trip here. One was honest and charged the right fare. The other 4 tried to overcharge me. Either taking the long way to the destination or accidentally on purpose leaving the meter off. One guy actually went about 10 blocks out of his way to run up the tab. Thats why I take as few cabs as possible.

Yes Matt, I do walk a lot in those cities in Colombia. But I do a lot of walking at home also, about 3-4 miles a day. Good for the health. Plus I'm too cheap to take taxis and a lot of them in Cali will overcharge customers all the time also.

The Windsor Hotel is a 3 star establishment ($50) , basic amenities, no english spoken. Not one drop of hot water for my showers, and the air conditioning went out on the last day. The location is good though, close to Ave. Sexta but far enough away so that theres no noise at night.

Matt, I was comparing Bar La Veinte to the surrounding area and the girls in the short time hotels. I love the place, nice and gritty, blue collar type bar, but safe at the same time.

Going to Pereira today, for 3 days. Will be back to Cali after that.

You stay at Windsor Hotel and go to La Veinte. That's a wild mix. I thought that La 20 was a decent establishment with an OK interior setup and nice customers though the area surrounding La 20 is seedy. I think the customers at La 20 generally look better than the guys at Mayorista or El Centro bar in Medellin. One thing I noticed at La 20 is that the local guys think the girls at La Veinte are beautiful. They said "mira," fingerpointing at some girls and gestured that they were impressed. The girls were not bad looking, but a little bigger. But, they were nice and friendly.

I'm staying at the Windsor Hotel. Don't know if its chica friendly, I do my thing on the location.

Took Matt Psyche{s advice and went down Carrera 8, 3 blocks from Club Sonero (ended at Calle 16). Didn't find many streetwalkers (1 looked like a tranny, couldn't tell).
