I was in Cali for Christmas (25-27). This was my first time in Cali. I usually end up in Bogota, Medellin, or Barranquilla. I thought that it would be interesting to be there for the Ferria de Cali. I stayed in Apartahotel Sexta Avenida. It was comfortable although the rooms were pretty small. I think I paid about 100 K per night. The staff was good. The most important thing to me was that the water was hot, the A / see was cold, and there were no bugs. It's close to a lot of the night clubs on Sexta Avenida. Surprisingly, there was a lot of action in the clubs on Christmas night. I actually didn't do anything that night. The next day I made an arrangement on Mileroticos. I talked to the guy over the phone and asked if the girl I wanted was available. She was so I made my way to the hotel. The name of the hotel is Apartahotel Rey de Oriente. As far as I can tell, it's a love motel with an arrangement with this guy and his girls. When I got there, I paid, was given a room key and told to go wait for the girl. I ended up waiting for 30 minutes. This annoyed the hell out of me, but the girl eventually came. She wasn't a stunner, but she looked like her pictures. I was taking a chance because a lot of time on Mileroticos, the girls faces aren't shown. She gave good service a decent CBJ and covered mish. I did get the girl's number for some action outside, but I didn't follow through. Damage was 90 K plus cab fare. I finished and took a taxi back to my hotel.

I will be there Weekend 11-14 March.

This is a continuation of a report in the Cartagena thread -- you don't need to read it to make sense of this report, but I wanted to explain the numbering in case anyone's confused.

Day 4 - Cali

After a short flight (I no longer care for Avianca's Int'l flights, but their short-hops are fine by me) to Cali from Cartagena, we waited for an Uber upstairs, then took the 30-minute ride into the North of the city where we were staying. After some research, I settled on the Hotel Spiwak Chipichape and look forward to doing so again; the rooms are only a little under US pricing for comparable rooms in similar areas (around $120-150/ night), but it's a excellent hotel connected to virtually eveything you'll need by way of the Chipichape see. See. -- every taxi driver knew where we were going without additional directions, and the hotel was a beautiful setup with gorgeous, modern rooms. A fellow monger from a different board was in town, and seeing as we always managed to miss each other in the DR, we'd decided to meet up at our hotel and head to Eventos Liz. After another money mishap (though my card was apparently fine, WU refused to send me another transfer, and Moneygram was being equally ridiculous -- I ended up borrowing a hundo from my wing, resolving to bring a card I knew would work in Colombia next time, and I just completed that task the other day) we got a bite to eat at the food court at the foot of the stairs connecting the hotel level to the mall and hit Eventos Liz.

Eventos Liz was by far and away the most fun I had at a singular establishment on the trip. The stage was low to the ground, there were 7's and up buzzing all about, and an atmosphere of high energy all night. After the prices I had been paying in Cartagena, I was shell-shocked to see the "Drink Specials" Eventos had going on -- a bottle of Aguardiente, a private room, and two private shows + two 20-minute sessions. For 140 k COP? My mind was blown, and I quickly paid the cost lest I wake up or find the price had changed. Sure enough the price was right, and the server brought over some cut up lime, a pitcher of water, and a bottle of aguardiente. As I was trying to figure out which girl I wanted, my wing and the other friend who linked up with us in Cali had found girls, and the server came to take us to the private room. Apparently something had gotten lost in translation, as apparently my friends and their girls weren't allowed to come to the room (I think the server thought they were picking out girls for me), and we shortly thereafter found ourselves being moved upstairs to a more comfy (albeit almost house party-looking) setting; I was unaware that after a certain time (11? 12? Anyone?) they convert into a straight-up casa. As the now-emptied bottle of Aguardiente was churning through my veins, I started looking to get one of those two lays out the way. Not long after, a sexy-as-hell, slender Colombiana with features that reminded me of Aubrey Plaza (April on the show "Parks and Recreation" amongst other things) was gyrating on the pole near my couch, and my dick made the decision for me. After I finally got my wing to the Uber (and after an incident in which my wing left his phone in the Uber and panicked the entire time the guy was on his way back), I was ready to give it another go in the morning. I sat on the balcony, puffing a joint (we found a barber shop near the hotel earlier in the day, and my barber was able to hook it up at a dollar a J), drinking a gatorade, and surveying the view while thinking about how good of an idea trying Colombia was.

Day 5

After waking up too late for the free breakfast (which my wing assures me is great), I went to the Giros inside of the mall to get some much-needed cash, took a much-needed shower, and eventually linked up my with my wing to try Dr. Amor. The inside of the casa was clean and surprisingly modern and reminiscent of a proper waiting room, and we were lucky enough to run into a server that spoke fluent English. The parade of girls that strolled by were a lineup that definitely kept me from later seeing New Life as the be-all end-all, and the band system just really meant their prices ranged from "very cheap" all the way up to "kinda cheap". I picked a stunner in black lingerie, who took me back to the very clinical (heheh) setup in the back (my wing told me he thought he deep red Dr. Amor logo on the sheets was period blood and damn near flipped out on his girl LOL), gave a solid CBJ and threw some amazing pussy my way. His girl showed up, and I tried to give him an extra 20 k note just out of appreciation for him waiting for me and all that good stuff, but he said he already felt a little indebted for my buying him a powerade while we chatted, and kicked me some extra joints. He's a real good kid (and can cut hair like someone several years his senior), and I occasionally chat him up on WhatsApp to see how he's doing (my shit Spanish is exposed when we get into lengthier conversations, so there's another reason to practice). No matter where you go on this earth there are 20-somethings trying to figure life out and keep a roof over their heads in the meantime, and that's something I try not to forget.

After some football and a nap, we all call each other to find the same thing: Everyone's stomach is jacked up! We're all way too jacked up to leave our rooms, much less hit the club, and I spend the night peacefully asleep, followed by an early morning of annihilating the bathroom. Not exactly how I wanted to finish the last evening in Cali, but I'm pretty sated from Dr. Amor, so I don't bother looking that gift horse in the mouth.

Early Day 6

I get up and get a morning text from the friend who flew in to meet us; he offers to meet up at my hotel and go out to get some pre-flight action at one of the casas advertising itself as 24/7. We show up at this place not too far off Avenida 2 Norte (not far at all from Dr. Amor) that looks more or less like someone's garage converted into a bar. A 4 and a 6. 5 are hanging around, and a gorda with some sort of shit on her lip (anti-cold sore meds? Wasn't getting close enough to check!) keeps beckoning to me, trying to convince me to take her (not happening); after about 10 minute of humoring him, I tell my buddy I'll catch him after the fact, and I have one of the door guys wave down a cab for me. After damn near leaving my wing behind because he never bothered to pick up a Colombian SIM card and went out shopping right before we left for the airport, we headed off to Cali; the friend who met up with us for the Cali segment was going to hop a plane to Bogota, so the three of us split a cab to the airport, marveling at the beauty of the ride throughout. I think the location of our hotel and the relative closeness of most of the stuff in the area made it out as a less intimidating area to roam than Medellin, and even though the most beautiful lay of my trip was found here, I think that Medellin still edges the place out in terms of beautiful working women (and beautiful women overall). The whole trip, Colombian men in CTG and CLO insisted that MDE has the most beautiful women in Colombia, and refused to entertain any thought stating otherwise. That was definitely on my mind as we sat on the hour-long flight to Medellin from Cali, and would linger for the rest of the trip.

First off, I have to say hats off to WT69 for all the excellent work and maps that he's made available to everyone, and to the forum regulars here who have put in so much useful info on the clubs. I have been RTFF and am trying to fill in some gaps. First off, I have been to Bogota, MDE and Cartagena but never to Cali. My usual preference in Colombia is to rent an apartment, but there seems to be very little talk about them, except an old list from WT69 on the apartment thread and the group indictment of the calirentals guy. So, what I'm looking to see is whether in Cali it's advisable to rent an apartment or whether it's just better in general to stay in a hotel. I'm fine with either and usually adjust to my location to decide which is most convenient. Secondly since I tend to like to do the TLN thing I can see that chica fee policies are vague and inconsistent, which of course seems from a quick glance to make apartment rentals more interesting. Still, with no feet on the ground experience in Cali I will defer to your collective wisdom if you have thoughts on the matter.

Secondly, the action seems to be centered entirely on clubs and casas. Nothing strange about this in Colombia but there's no talk about takeout or freelancers, aside form some sketchy street walkers. This is different in my experience than in the other Colombian cities. Is takeout not available from the clubs at all? Or are some of the chicas available outside of working hours? Are there any bars or clubs with freelance girls available that don't require you using rooms on premises? I can see from the forum that some of the guys have formed friendships and see girls outside of the working venue, but I assume that they do so BECAUSE they have formed a relationship, and not necessarily because this is a normal practice for a newbie to the area. Of course there's always social media, and I have one or two Cali girls I can see that I met in other cities, but again am wondering whether my impression is correct and that independent dalliances need to be arranged almost exclusively online or through an agency.

I am not a Cali expert, but have visited the town and its suburbs a few times. I have not seen a place like Periodista. It seeems to me that calenos are more discreet. The area around Iglesia San Antonio is a Bohemian place, but it is not like Periodista.

I've stayed at the Cali Plaza hotel a number of times, I know it well. The bottom floor is for singles, and the upper 4 floors are apartments. The hotel is chica friendly and there's no extra charge.

There's a few 2 bedroom units but I doubt if they would allow 6 people in one apartment. The bakeries are on Ave. Sexta. I can think of at least 3 of them. There's a small caf just to the right of the hotel. They offer a free smallish breakfast to people staying in the Cali Plaza.

The big issue is the noise factor from the discos, especially on Fri. And Sat. Night. If you can handle that you would like the hotel.

Thanks for this. Looks like this is going to be our spot. We may have to split the group in different rooms, shouldn't be a problem. Noise outside won't be a problem either. The cafe with the small breakfast sounds like a nice plus, they may have to compete with the bakeries across the street, knowing there probably will be fresh bunelos and pandebonos waiting for us there. But to me the most important plus is the chica friendliness, followed by location.

We'll do three destinations: Curacao > Cali > Medellin > Curacao, and so far Cali seems to be cheap and more 'local' than Medellin, I like that.

I remember the noise at the Cali Plaza. It seems prices there have actually gone down over the years reflecting that noise factor and other competitors that have sprung up where gringos can stay.

My advice would be your Fridays and Saturdays are the evenings you're out all night partying in the clubs. If you partake of a chica at La 20 or somewhere else, you can session in-house or take the chica to a love motel. It seems silly to go to a motel if you're staying at the Cali Plaza but with today's exchange rates and the lower price at the Plaza, it's an affordable option.

Thanks for your reports, QuackUp. Cali Plaza seems to be in a good spot, not very far from ChipiChape and close to Cerro Tres Cruses for a decent workout in the morning. I read that locals hike up the mountain. There also seems to be a bakery across the street, convenient. And it seems easy to move around to the casas using a taxi from the hotel. I guess you can ask for a cab at the lobby. Judging by the pictures Cali Plaza's rooms look more like a normal home than a typical hotel room. The building seems to be a residential building converted to a hotel. Do you know if the Cali Plaza offers apartments suited for a group of six? And it's not clear to me if the hotel allows chica's, and if so, what the price policy is. Can anyone else comment on this?
