Posts: 97Originally Posted by SavePros321 [View Original Post]I would advice against renting from this guy. I rented an apartment from him a year ago and he did the "bait-and-switch" with me. Told me it was a great place right at Chipichapi- the pictures he sent me looked great. When I arrive, he said that place is rented. Instead, he had an alternative. Unfortunately, this place was pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I would have told him to fuck off, but I had already given him a decent deposit and I was tired from from flight and wanted to get settled. The apartment sucked. It was way north of town, near basically nothing, no places to eat, drink, cafes, chicas. In retrospect, I should have just eaten my deposit and stayed elsewhere.
Lo and behold, during my stay in Cali, I run into another tourist who had the exact same thing happen to him with Art
The apartments he supposedly have, that are not on his web site and that I am aware of, are apartments he rents from other rental companies, and guess who pays that premium for the extra middleman.
Caveat Emptor.

Here are the classified ads from Cali's newspaper El Pais for studio apartments.

Keep in mind that most require a lease and do not include utilities or furniture. You have a lot of time so you might want to post an add on craigslist to see if some gringo will rent you a nice room for that price.
Here is a studio furnished with utilities within your budget.

I would say only rent from this guy w / no deposit. And even then, have a backup plan.

The website doesn't list prices, but I'd imagine its in the 700-1500 USD a month range at least.
I'll most likely be using local classified etc to find a place.
My budget is around 350 USD a month (what I am aiming / planning for anyway)
The bulk of my money I like to spend on partying.

Posts: 732There's a Cali monger who goes by the handle of Parcero. He's got apartments for rent. I don't know where they are or how much he charges but you can call him.

Hey guys,
I'll be spending a month in Cali around March and was wondering what would be my best options in finding cheap accommodations? Is there a website to check for people looking for a roommate or anyone know of some pensions?

Is there ANYTHING worth siteseeing in Buenaventura, most of the reports have pretty negative about the city. That it was dangerous and an ugly port town. Any beaches there?

I stay at the Aparta Hotel del Rio on 2nd Ave by the Rio. 90k air con, fast internet, breakfast, gf and fairly quiet if you stay high, that is on a top floor. I'm on 8. Its a 15 walk to Bar La Veinte and Sonoro where I spend most of my time and a 2 minute walk from Dr. Amor and Eventos Liz.
This trip I hooked up with Bay Boy and he showed me a lot good stuff, especially the Plaza Caicedo he refers to in his posts. I have had a lot of good times there thanks to him. I have 2 regular girls now who I pay 40 or 50 k inc propina for 60. 90 minutes of oh so sweet service. I love chicks with milk!
Bay Boy and I also chatted up some gals in doorways in the area on Sonoro and over on 7th and 8th. I hadn't done this before but now this is one of my favorite passtimes. Banging them that is.
I'm writting this from Buenaventura (see todays post in 'other areas') and am back to Cali esta tarde. Gracius a Bay Boy!
Cheers

Matt. At Club Sonero, Bar La20, and Karen's you have to pay the 'house' fee upfront before the sexo action. Karens Lindas Chicas address is Calle 11 No. 23-51. Its near the corner of Calle 11 and Carrera 23.
