I'm a well seasoned traveler/monger with experiance from the Dominican Republic scene and I've finally convinced a couple of my closet friends whom I've traveled with in the past to venture into Cali. It was tough sell due to the history of Colombia and the Escobar era ..lol.but after showing them a few pics from many of the ISG posters here, they have seen the light. I'm planning to be there from May 26th- June 1st. If anyone is going to be there at that time I'de really appreciate it if I can hook up with you. I'm 35 yrs old and I may be travelling with 2 other guys that are also in my age range. We are not really into the glitzy 5 star hotel scene and would rather be in a clean, safe rental or hotel that is guest friendly and not too far from the action on Sexta. Our spanglish is not the best but we've managed to get by in D.R for quite a while. Any suggestions from anyone is gladly welcomed. thanks guys ! oh..and if anyone is planning on flying out of the NYC area, JFK to Cali is around $500 non-stop on those dates.

Clean, management is friendly and trustworthy (they even returned the rings that my girlfriend had lost 2 weeks ago when she went there last weekend). Has hot water, television with cable, girl friendly. You will pay between $30.000 and $45.000 Colombian pesos a night there.

I went at the Saratoma before (downtown Pereira in front of Plaza Bolivar). This hotel is more like a big chain - comparable to the inter-Continental in Cali, but more expensive - more around between $120,000 and $160,000 a night depending if it is the week or weekend.

Interesting stuff, a strong economy and a growing tourist trade are sure killers for the "Gringo sextrade". I was not aware that prostitution was not legal in Colombia. Those factors alone are going to drive up prices. Expect to see the laws more strictly enforced with the "coming" goldrush of Baby Boomer retirees travelling the world with there AW's

In Miraflores (Lima) within the last 6 months we saw a similar scenario. Even though prostitution is perfectly legal here, They started making repeated roundups! They would have a "Cattle Truck" pull up in front of "Pizza Street" and just start grabbing girls out of restaurants, clubs and right off the street. It was rumored that they would take them down to the beach in a neighboring district and dump them off. This would go on several times a night.

Old Biddie's would write the ex-pat forum everytime they saw a old gringo walking and holding hands with his young wife/girlfriend.

Normal Latin girls are very aware of the "puta" stigma they acquire when seen with a older gringo. For some reason this does not apply when the gringo is 50 and the chica is over 35.

Another reason I believe is the "Chavez Effect". I have a friend living and working in VEN. and even though he has a hot young girlfriend in Lima, He does not even get looks from the village girls.

Myself, I have been living in a small city cerca Lima and find it very strange indeed. Eyes follow me down the streets, gang members send out there signal(whistle) and the only time I make contact with young ladies is when I am walking the babe magnet(Shar Pei).

Well, I am looking forward to alot of interesting changes this year, a number of us are discussing moving to Colombia. I must say I envy you Tom33 for having Uribe around.

It's here Surf. It seems to have started about one year ago. I have actually been stopped on the street less than a block from the apartment that I have owned for over 2 years in Laguito and been asked for my cedula.

The police are actively interested in preventing any kind of illegal contact with girls under 18.

The few "normal" girls in Laguito will not make any kind of eye contact with me.

Many buildings in Laguito will not allow visitors anymore. Open solicitation on the street is not allowed, and girls have been arrested. The Colombian family has always been the big spender here. We have been tolerated but less so now.

just as is happening now in Rio, EVENTUALLY the uppercrust will tire of people talking about sex tours to their city and there will be a crackdown. As more upscale tourists begin to trickle in, the dollars of the Laguito sex tourists will be much less necessary to the local economy.

Unlike in Brasil, Prositution is NOT technically legal in Colombia (like SO many Colombian laws, it is just not enforced currently).

Is there a hotspot in the world you have not been to? You certainly opened the doors to Med. and Caracas for me so your 2/2 so far. Cali is definately next.

Caracas has the most beautiful women in the world IMHO and I always have fun in San Ignacio but its gotten to the point down there where its not safe to walk even a few blocks in the more secure neighborhood in the city or else I'd spend my whole time there.

I've been to both cities quite a bit ...

IMHO ... both cities have absolutely beautiful women ... like you said, Medellin having, in general, the lighter complexion chicas ... I read that years ago ... to work the sugar-cane fields / other crops, African-slaves were shipped into Cali by the Spanish ... therefore the darker skin from the mix ... but BEAUTIFUL for sure.

But ... Medellin is definitely a more beautiful, more pleasant city as far as cleanliness, climate, metro system, etc.

I would say, in general, the Paisas (Medellin chicas), regular normal chicas are more complicated / drama type chicas than in Cali.
Cali has more of a care-free type personality than Medellin ... very friendly people.

Cali used to be the popular destination of the Gringo and now it has moved to Medellin ... but that will run it's course also and Cartagena will always be Monger central ... IMHO.

Caracas / Venezuela chicas which I know you have lots of experience are of a totally different flavor .... Caracas being much more of a "sophisticated" atmosphere than Cali.

After reading some Cali reports I've decided to definately check it out but I'm curious why Cali doesn't seem to generate the buzz that Medellin does, that could be a good thing but wonder why. Are the girls not as attractive?....i heard the girls here have more of an indian look like girls of Caracas rather than the caucasian Paisa....since when is that a bad thing.

Also has anyone had any experience with a casa called "Millieum" I believe it is near the soccer stadium
