I have used Andreas twice, and can vouch for him. His english is excellent and he is honest. He knows all of the hotspots, has a list of chica models and can negotiate anything from an apartment to a girl. PM me if you want his e-mail.

Posts: 24Surfer is right about the spanish advice..
My first trip to Cali, on two occasion i had young 19-20 yr chicas eyeballed me bigtime at this internet cafe. BUT my spanish(5 week of pimsleur) at that time was really bad, couldn't even say anthing beyond hola, without resorting to my phrase book. I wasn't quick enough, i had to let those opp't pass. I did score w/ a non pro but that we met on the internet and she spoke some english put was patience with me.
I notice my next trip to BOG, my spanish(5 mos of pimsleur) was much better and consequently was able to connect faster w/ non pros and pros! In cali chicas eyeball alot more than in BOG, so you if you can talk, you're in. Plus your "foreigner" exotic factor goes a lot longer ways than BOG.

Lost in Paradise: the bellboy is Gustavo (not Gustav); he is very helpful and speaks good English, but he does expect tips for help (which i give him).
Tampa: IMHO if your Spanish is poor, I would stick to Cartagena as you will have a VERY hard time in Cali. Guides can only help you so much (like if you are trying to bond with a non pro and canbnot speak any Spanish your odds are VERY limited IMHO).
Andreas (I THINK the guy Mojo refers to as Andy in post below) is a cool, young, guy (whereas Ramon is MUCH older and can not cruise the non pro discos like a buddy the way Andreas can).

There's a friend of mine in Cali who works as a guide and translator in Cali, he will help you in finding whatever you need and he's inexpensive. Call him at this number 310 395 27 03 when you are down there. His name is Andy.

Hey Bro,
I've been to Cali 4 times. I really suggest as being your first trip to Cali hooking up w/ some1 there to give you the insight.. I know several people in Cali that can show you around. If your around Ave sextra , theres a beellboy name Gustav who works at Hotel Don Jamie you must talk too.. He speaks excellent english and can handle any need of yours. Really good guy to know in Cali....Have fun in Cali.
Here is a link of some hotels for those asking. http://www.gentecontalento.org/CALI/turismo/hoteles.htm

Tom Tom is right Costa Rica is definitely "easier" as in canned pro-action but Cali / Cartagena is much more fun and less "professional" than San Jose.
You'll never find me at the Blue Marlin again ... plus the prices in CR ... Ridiculous.
Suerte!

I may be in Cali during that time also, if I do I'll PM you. I've been to CALI before, but most of the info is in this forum anyway, just read through. Cali is really great for non-pro, your "exotic/foreigness" goes a long way, much more so than Bogota. If you spanish is half way decent, then you're in.

Posts: 1194HDJ Contact Info:
57 (2) 667-2838, FAX 668-7098 (no email or webpage to my knowledge). I would NOT mention Ramon (though it worked for me friend Bill) but would reserve the first night THEN negotiate a long term rate with the manager. There ARE lots of other options in the area, but I think HDJ will give you a good rate if you can negotiate in Spanish. Their rates vary based on MANY factors. VERY guest friendly (though ID required and street girls of questionable age are scared to go there) and I have never had an added charge (though they TALK about "guest charges" on occasion.
Memo, how the hell are you? Call me sometime.

If you mention that you are friends of "Ramon" (the guide/"PIMP" to many-a-young hardbodies) then you might be able to get a 85,000 COP rate. I got that Aug 2003, and normally that is the weekend rate, but with the name dropping, I got that during the week also.

Thanks TomTom for the info. I think I will go to Costa Rica first then maybe check out Colombia next.
The girls in Colombia look so hot, especially the ones that Mastermonger posted.

Thanks alot,
I'll surf a little farther back. I knew there had to be some lower priced hotels. When I couldn't find any here quickly, I went and did an internet search and they were all over $100. I couldn't imagine that anyone would actually pay those rates.
Later,
Michael
