I flew into Cali from Medellin with an expectation that in a city that is relatively large I would find something decent but so far have been disappointed.

Geography: Cali can broadly be broken into four general areas: North, South, East and West.

The north is the industrial area where I stayed. There are the conjunto residencials here which are super safe gated communities that are generally very quiet and have parking, pools, gyms and even coworking spaces. They are generally occupied by upper middle class Colombians. There are some major nightclubs here as well as a couple half disguised brothels but really not much action here. I stayed in this area and it is pretty nice, albeit far from most points of interst.

The west is where most of the tourist activities are San Antonio, El Penon, centro, famous salsa bars as well as a couple of casas.

The East is generally a no-go zone as it is where the most dangerous neighborhoods are. No real mongering activity there that I am aware of.

The South is where I would stay if I came back. Any of the areas around Ciudad Jardin are pretty nice. Plus the south is where all the university girls are, since there are 3-4 universities all next to each other, and the majority of the sex spas and casas / apartments. This was the only area of the city I actually found more than a handful of girls I liked.

Girls: My beauty standard is tall and thin / athletic. I like big butts and tits but not at the expense of fat. And Cali girls did not deliver. Walking around in the streets of Medellin or even Bogota, I could find many of these girls regardless of where I go. In Cali, this was not the case. Plenty of thick girls if that is your type but outside of the university girls I saw in the south of the city, it was hard to find much worth it.

I visited one apartment and ended up getting a fat girl but saw two other pretty hot girls. Seeking: Messaged a couple of girls and in general they wanted 500 mil per meet plus taxi and wouldn't negotiate down. I still have them on my roster in case I really want something decent but it's really not worth the value when you can buy a ticket to Medellin plus fuck a similar girl for the same price total.

The biggest draw here is salsa. The city lives and breathes it. If you can dance salsa, you can probably get some girls, though to me it generally seemed like salsa was more popular among people over 30. Younger people didn't really care for it. Beyond that the tourist places seem very similar to Bogota. San Antonio is like La Candaleria. El Penon is like Chapineiro. The zona rojas are similar. There are some nice plazas and the Boulevard and Rio Pance are nice but its something you can find in hundreds of cities around the world.

Final Thoughts:

I love being contrarian but the popular opinion on this place is right. No real reason to go here unless you love salsa or are super into short and thick women. Crime here is generally not an issue as long as you stay away from the eastern zone of the city. As time permits I may check out a couple more mileroticos girls and some of the bars listed on WT69's map but I'm not expecting anything special.

You forgot Cra 10 / Calle 20 area of "el obrero" for street action 50 k street girls at momentos and sensaciones as well as a bunch of other 30 minute hoteles nearby. This is the main attraction for me Everytime I've gone to Cali which has only been 2 times now LOL. I don't care much for the heat. Medellin and Bogota are much better options in my opinion.

That place has less than 5 chicas all the 3 times I visited. Better off in Olympus and 20 or hit tangaras.

I usually see 10-12 at 10 pm or 11 pm. They'll sometimes be at private shows in the back. The challenge is out of the 12 I'm usually lucky to find 1 that I'm attracted to.

Any authority including Colombian can do whatever they want even if it defies logic, law, common sense, practicality, custom, your expectation, economic or business plan, decency et cetera. Your or mine indignation, non acceptance, bewilderment, lamentation or questions why are worthless. The world is in a state of chaos slightly veiled by rules. There is only one country directly governed by the Almighty and it's not Colombia.

It looks like it says it's a self destruct feature that you can activate after reporting your phone as stolen. I'm not sure if that will deter cell phone thefts tho. Thanks for linking the article anyways tho.

Assuming you meant cell phones that are sold and / or purchased in Colombia that would make more sense, I still fail to see how having a certain software installed on the phone will stop someone from stealing it.

I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 S that I purchased last August in Bogota for $200 usd. Does that mean I own a Colombian cell phone or do I own a Chinese cell phone?

I just updated to Xiaomi Hyper OS built on top of Android 14 and unless if it's hidden somewhere, I don't see anything about some magical antitheft software that will stop a ladron from trying to snatch my phone and run with it while I am in plaza Botero LOL.

That would be nice. Phones are a big deal here. I had to go to Claro a couple of times to register my Cel from the USA. They also had to register my virtual SIM for my Cel. Besides being a target for thieves, a Cel here is a status symbol. If you have a BS or burner phone, just the thieves are attracted. It's somewhat understandable given the abject poverty.
