I live and work in Cali. Getting a legal status that doesn't force you to get out of Colombia every couple of months is a pain in the butt. There are 2 ways around this: 1) get married, or 2) a bribe in the right hands. Getting married should take you 1-2 weeks. That is a walk in the park. Provided that you do not intend to live oversees, you get rid of the passport diggers. Now you are left to spot the golddiggers and move on.

As for having a business in Colombia, it's pretty much a pain in the butt. I personally chose not to do that because of the inherent complexity of the system. Quick example: your invoice numbers... When you right an invoice in Colombia, you can not pick just any number. You need to have a number range (about 1000 at a time) approved by the government (NIT). If you lose any of those invoices, you're in trouble. Your accounting needs to have them reproduced in there and so on. So, bottom line is that you'll need to get in line for a couple of hours every second month to go and beg for numbers; who wants that??? After that, there is the bank mess. In Colombia, you can't just put a check in an enveloppe and send it (they get stolen, photocopied), for every bill that you get (including your business), you need to go at a different bank (the bank of the issuer of the bill), and pay it in cash there. That's a whole lot of banks to visit for a business. For those fun trips, I have a guy with his moto that does it for me for about $3/hour. But still, it's quite a mess. I prefer opening my bank account in Panama also. They are in US dollars and totally confidential.

I know some of you veterans spend a lot of time or maybe even live in Cali, or other parts of Colombia.
I'm a 55 year-old American guy who spent a few weeks in Cali a few years ago and fell in love with Colombia, Cali, and most especially, las Calenas.
I'm retiring later this year, have a good nest egg and would like to live in Cali. However, I would like to have some kind of small, income-generating business there since my nest egg is not of sufficient size to carry me for what I hope is many more years on this beautiful planet.
So, my question to any of you who is in the know: Can a gringo legally own a business, and live legally in Colombia? Many thanks for any input.

Based on my experience, I would say it’s fairly easy to screw chicas bareback in Colombia. Obviously, there’s many factors that play into this equation as every situation is different. For me, it was most easily available with the non and semi-pro girls. Of the ten calenas I had sex with, I went bareback with 5 of them. 2 of the girls were non-pros who had very few sexual partners prior to me (not that this matters). The other 3 chicas I would categorize as semi-pros. I met them thru a friend as the girls were just getting started in the pay 4 play game. The other 5 girls I was with, I didn’t have a desire to go bareback even if it was offered. One of the girls was a SW, and others were seasoned pros who were a little on the trashy side.

I do remember one of the non pros asking me to put on a rubber. She was concerned about getting pregnant. I told her to trust me and also let her know I was too drunk for release. I think the rest allowed bareback because they were into the moment and wanted to feel the extra sensation that one gets when going sin condon.

As in the States, there are the inherent risks of going bareback which we are all aware of. For me, I treat every situation different and I’m actually open to more bareback sex in Latin America then in the states. As I meet more non-pro girls from Latin America, I find they have less sexual partners (haven’t gone to Brazil) then their US counterparts. Most have only had 1 to 3 sexual partners and never engaged in one night stands. Of course, just because a girl has had few sexual partners doesn’t totally diminish the risk of disease (especially since most of the dudes in Latin America cheat on their girlfriends.) Therein is the risk reward factor and one I'm willing to accept.

With that being said, there are situations where I will absolutely NOT go bareback. These include…When a pro tells you bareback is okay if you pay extra. The chica in general has bad hygiene. The chica is a seasoned pro or a SW.

Be careful out there Opebo. Realize that it’s a numbers game and probably just a matter of time before yourself or I come down with something. Hopefully, carefully choosing your partner will lessen this risk.

Is Cali or Columbia in general a good place for bareback full service? I'm in Asia, where this is redily available, and as much as I want to try Latinas, I don't want to spend a lot of money to fuck a rubber. I've heard Brazil and Argentina are not good for this, wonder if Columbia is any better?

Maybe it is because there are so many blondes among the Paisa, so my looks are less unique, but I got LESS flirty looks in Medellin than any just about any other city in Colombia (save perhaps Cartagena).

IMHO, the "best" places are the mid-sized cities which are off the main path of visitors (BOG-CLO-MDE-CTG). I have a personal favorite, but I won't be posting it here (sorry).

have to agree with Ricker here...allthough I think also in Cartagena,Barranquilla and other larger cities one can find a "nice girl".

Indeed many argentinian women are VERY arogant and down right stock up. That is what at least 3 Americans have told me (which I know)that were allready there.
Hot...pretty...sure.....but a good life mate?? I doubt it.

IMHO Colombia and Brasil are the countries were the chicks are.
Argentina can be ok for mongering...but looking there for a wife??

I believe Medellin is the best town to meet a nice, beautiful, down to earth chica. If you speak spanish you can easily do it on your own .. if not, go thru a service like I posted about here before on the Medellin page (see: www.colombiansweethearts.com).
Also another service is opening soon in Medellin and the owner is a really cool guy. More about this soon once it's up and running.

Buenos Aires ... in my opinion ... nice looking ladies ... hot! ... but not nearly as approachable as the Colombianas.

Just my humble opinion once again.

Gotta agree with Aussie Greg that Medellin is a nicer CITY (cooler, cleaner, nicer malls, more scenic etc.), but from a mongering perspective I must respectfully disagree (though he spent MUCH more time in Medellin than I did). Prices for everything (including pros) are DEFINITELY higher (and options MUCH more limited), and I did not find the Paisa as flirty, sexy or forward as the Calena. If blondes are your thing, then Medellin may be your preference as the gringa look is more common. For those that prefer the sultry morena, however, Cali remains the bomb IMHO.

The paisa do not dress NEARLY as sexy as Calenas (more "refined" & "classy" dressing, more European, but less sexy IMHO). Perhaps it was my timing being there during the "big" event of the year, the Flower Festival, when the town was PACKED and they were in family groups etc. I also met one Paisa who REALLY rocked my World so I spent most my time with her (in fact, when I took antifreeze to one of Medellin's top casas, Loutron, I abstanied as I was literally "drained" from my amiga!).

And regarding Medellin having less gringos, I can count the total I have seen during two trips to Cali on one hand (though I avoid the Hotel Inter and see no need for an "agency", so perhaps by avoiding their preferred hotel I have been insulated.

I think you have persuaded me to try Medellin on my next foray into Colombia. Although my little Calena, who really is from Pereira, wants me to visit with her family in Pereira, you have convinced me that I need to check out the land of the Paisa. Taller, whiter, less Americans, thats enough for me. Glad to hear the Paisa can stare you down just like the Calena. I'll tell the Jamaican you say hello.

slick, sorry for not getting back to you sooner, had a lot on my plate on my return to aussie.

my impressions on medellin, well it is my prefered city in colombia so far. given that i have not been to the coast yet and only been to two city's, cali and medellin. i think now that i have a bit of piasa in me, or i've put a bit of aussie in a few piasa's. if you speak to antifreeze well he will tell you cali is his choice.

i like medellin because it is more like a european city, shopping malls, there are many more trees in the city, the air is cleaner, two golf cources, another girlfriend of mine, well her brother was a caddie, and the people are different to.

the woman are generally taller, whiter and i think it is right what they write about the picas's chicks is that they go for what they want and usally get it ( men ) and dont care if they are married or have a boy friend.

one time i went to a hospital to see a girlfriend who worked their, all her friends came out of their officers to meet me. i ended up rooting a firiend of hers the next night who wanted me, they know what they want and will do anything to get it, even root there girlfriends boyfriend!

as for the monger spots, i think you dont need them if your like us slick, all you do is go shopping, find someone you like and go for it. medellin does not have the gringo's that cali has. i used to hate shopping but now in medellin i just love it, they all know you are a gringo because of how we look, they just stare at you with their big eye's, i've never been raped !!! so many times by their eye's. i just love it.

anyway i hope there is something in this for you slick, how is your mate going, the boy from jamacia! regards to him.

I will be doing the caballata there. For those who do not know, a caballata is a horse ride where you get yourself drunk on the horse back and then wonder that with all the advances in technology, a horse can bring you back home and a car still don't...

I may get back Saturday night since we have another party at some friends place, but maybe not. The plans are dangerously in the hands of my wife. Latinas normaly spend half their energy making plans and the other half enjoying not respecting them. So, if I'm in town on Sunday, let's go up las tres cruces together.
