WOW! I go to Tijuana for 5 days and all hell breaks loose on the Cali site. But I'm generally in the Triple Darkness camp of not needing a guide. By the way Triple I will be in Cali next month hope to meet up w you and have a drink at one of the hot spots that have been talked about. I started coming to Cali about 12 years ago. Used to come here quite often. Not so much lately. Had financial problems for a while.

But the areas I go to, I found out about on my own. Didn't need a guide. Either read previous reports or heard about. But I use google maps a lot to map out where places are and gauge how to get there. Don't use cabs all that much, just walk to it. Somebody mentioned Caras Lindas; I used to walk there from El Centro all the time, even though passing thru some sketchy hoods along the way. Thats all part of the fun in Cali.

My suggestion to newbies is to do your homework. All the info is right there on the maps. Just figure out where you are and how to get there.

As far as Jesus goes. Yes he did turn me on to some new spots, but I would have found them eventually on my own. Yes I did experience his anger a few times. I don't need that drama on a vacation. I feel sorry for him on the job scene but I can't help him. It aint me babe.

Don't get it twisted. Newbies My man Trip is right there is a larger ratio of darker Colombians in Cali. Especially compared to the larger cities such as Medellin and Bogota. But it's not Africa, Haiti, or the DR. As trip explain and showed me; a lot of these chicas come from cities on the western coast that are predominantly Afro Colombian seeking work and a better life. However, overall they still make up a small percentage of the population and a very small percentage of chicas in the casas. Definitely enough for guys like Trip and myself; but we are chocolate connoisseurs.

Now that Trip has a firm grip on the place I can't wait to get back there. However I understand how dude felt knowing you already broke in the chicas you're introducing him to. Just want to drop a line and say thanks everybody who continues to make valuable contributions here. I haven't been to Cali in more than 10 years, but I'm planning on going back for a visit soon.

I first went to Cali because in my younger days I was very much into salsa dancing and the bars on la sexta and Juanchito were once upon a time world famous for that. I think things have changed both in terms of slasa's popularity as well as my interest in it, but it will be fun to go back and enjoy the city and the girls.

I may drop a question or two as I'm planning accommodations, logistics etc. Not really interested in a guide or anything of that nature. If that type of thing were necessary then Cali would really no longer be of interest to me. I am trying to go back through the archives and read everything, but if anyone has links to threads or resources with up-to-date information on food / hotels / transportation etc. , I certainly appreciate that. Otherwise look forward to chatting with you guys a little bit more as I plan. I'll pay it back with a trip report upon my return.

And even if I am not looking for women as when I was in Valledupar with my girlfriend a couple of months ago. We flagged down a taxi and asked how much per hour. I think the guy said 30 K. I said 25 K. He said okay. That day he took us around running errands and seeing stuff within the city. The next day he took us to see things outside of the city and all up in the mountains and shit. Then when he dropped us off I told him what time to come take me to the airport the next day. So if I am paying a guy with a car 25 K to take me all over, how much should be paid to a guy without a car to show me a couple of hooker dens?

I have read some reports and I can in some way understand Jesus issue. The minimum salary is 240 us dollar in Colombia. So someone working everyday might finish with 240 us dollar and with that need to pay house / groceries / etc.

The reality is places where tourist go to prices increase. Pussy in Cali was cheaper but if a girl ask for an amount of money for fucking example above 70 k cop which is 17/18 us dollar most of you guys won't have a problem paying it for a 20 min session. In Cali there's guys his age who sit in parking lots directing cars backing out of lots, having your car guarded and not having an accident is worth 2000 pesos or about 50 cents. I doubt they make the daily minumum wage for Colombia. Jesus could do that if he wanted to, but if some gringo told him over 10 t0 20 USD a day "guiding" stupid gringos to well known hooker dens that any Cabbie can take you to I'd prefer that to guiding Colombians in and out of parking spots.

OK, so I'll tell it since you brought it up. The "Guide" was an OK dude. I don't mind helping a guy out and he seems like he needs it. In my opinion TD should be the guide, and he should be paid, but he asks for nothing. My trip to Cali for almost a month was the best trip I have had in awhile. I tend to stick to the same places (Phils, Thailand, Dubai, Kenya) so I was out of my comfort zone coming to Colombia. TD made it an awesome trip just showing me around the city and hotspots, and I took the ball and ran with it in my own way. I only did Tinder, and women were coming almost daily. I don't really want to phuck in a cum stained bed for a cheap 100 K, even though Bar 20 chicas are hot, so I gave out a little bit more for them to come to me. Double shots were almost given without having to ask for them. I had four come in one day. OK, I'm lazy. That's my modis in Kenya too, but they have great bars and clubs in Nairobi, so there I go out along with the other places I mentioned. We met Baboy and he also showed us some spots.

I didn't really like street women, and I will save the casas for next time. I did, however, love the erotic massage place "Katmandu". I guess if someone wanted a Man to clean their air bnb or make store runs or translate something he'd be Ok with that but I guess he'd want 100 K a day or about 20 to 25 bucks to do those things. I really think dude is uncomfortable with pointing out casas in San Nicholas and even more uncomfortable delivering a Vennie Street walker to your Hotel.

Trip, thank you so much. This explains it all. I paid this Jesus 70 K total. He said he charges 33000 an hour supposedly. Smh. Lesson learned and that's exactly why, after the first night I did not use him again because there was just no need! I have the map and it gave me all the help I needed. You do not need a guide for anyone coming to Cali. You can wing it yourself, I promise. I can't be responsible for another grown man, and the way he acted was unnecessary. Honestly. He's still harassing me because I left that bad review. Sending threatening texts early in the morning and even said he would come and wait outside my casa again. He never showed cause I was definitely waiting for his ass this time. But I ended up blocking his # but word of advice for future mongers. Do not use a guide. Please. You can get a similar map for Medellin in Sweet Georgia Brown's cafe in Problado. Cartagena you don't really need a map at all.

But, so many of these young travelers have a lot to learn.

And we are their teachers.

As the saying goes, they see you when you are balling but don't see you when you are struggling. I would assert that most people here have struggled before. Just because you see them on the website and traveling now, does not mean they have had it gravy all of their lives.

There was a time when I was thankful for 49 cent tacos at Taco Bell because I would have 2 of them for lunch everyday along with the free Mountain Dew that I stole because the machine was in the lobby.
