The only place I have read about with a greater concentration of pay 4 play women in the world is in the red light districts of Thailand, having been there myself I have to say that while the numbers are way higher, especially Walking Street in Pattaya but for me the concentration of quality is not the same. Of course it greatly depends on individual tastes and I did encounter the occasional 9 in Thailand, it just does not compare to the concentration of gorgeous chicas in Cartagena.

There's everything and everything is in 10 minutes walking distance radius. Don't ever consider to take a cab to move around the Centro. The driver will immediately understand you have no clue and, nasty boy, will surely overcharge you a lot. Shark and little fish.

Today we have a wonderful thing called Google Maps. You cannot get lost with that and you will find anything you want. Without maps, it is easy to get lost in the centro, because all streets look the same the first times (not only the first times: me too I often had to ask a direction to a local when I am somewhere there and I am looking for my Juan Valdez).

Just do not trust the gastronomical taste of the girls! Most girls are from lower strata, and they predilect junk food. Mojo Bandit has given you a thorough overview already. The Bandeja Paisa is supposedly a typical dish of Medellin and Antioquia (but it's debated, as purist find it an horrible addition from outside) and honestly you can forget it exists. I'm going to Cartegena on vacation (hopefully this summer for two weeks), I can afford to pollute myself, I'm old and every day is my last one! Besides by the time I get to Cartagena, my body will be purged off all the tasty street crap I have been pounding down for the past two years. Street cheese hotdogs from the CP Cart on the corner of Funky Lane and Sok San Road in Siem Reap, the Nutella egg cream banana pancakes on every street corner in SE Asia, those deadly little coconut cakes, gristly beef on a stick, OMG grilled barbeque chicken bones by the railroad station at Keng Khoi Thailand, dried squid on a stick, grilled crocodile.

Please tell me someone has seen any local variety of what I call lechon. Platanos? Goat? Deep fried Chicken Feet. Middle class places or working class places?

I'm a little shocked that you think the girls have poor taste in food. My experience has been the opposite. Absent the occasional Ban Nok (hick farmer chick) you run into in Thailand, the girls know what the tasty stuff is even if they can't afford it. Ill never forget the time I took a hottie from Nonthanburi (a hickish suburb of Bangkok) to a place for "modern Thai cuisine" in Thong Lor. Thats like taking a Romanian village girl to some fancy cafe on the Rue de Honore. Her eyes bulged when she saw the prices, but she sure knew what to order. Nothing beats a $5 plate of Spicy Squiddicks. How would I ever know that spicy squiddicks were so good? Even though they are $1 in the seafood market in MahaChai.

Plaza de LOS Coches is where the clock tower is and the circled Exito circles is the nearest large (ish) supermarket. The signage isn't great though so I am posting a photo of the front of the building as it would look when approaching from the clock tower area , the sign that says "Exito" is under that overhang and is hard to see

About local food in Cartagena, my advice for you is the following (if you really plan to travel to Colombia in this world emergency):

1) The kiosks out of Plaza del Reloy (go out, cross the road, walk LEFT) to eat shrimp cocktail and a variety of other seafood served with the same sauce in disposable plastic cups. Sit down, eat your shrimps accompanied with fresh fruit juice (as European, I would like a glass of iced white wine, but here I suggest you go for tropical fruit) and watch people strolling. It's my snack of mid afternoon or mid day.

2) Try La Mulata, typical restaurant for local food. It's NOT a place for local poor people. It's a place for tourists, but it's excellent. Open only at day time. In Centro near an Olimpica. Find it with Google Maps.

3) At night, I prefer more classy places, which I have already recommended in other posts (Peruan, Fusion, Argentinian). Definitely I would not look for sushi.

Apologies for not replying sooner but I wrote a reply yesterday but must have got distracted and then closed my browser before hitting post.

I am not so sure you want to eat what the chicas eat in Colombia. I mean its okay to try and if you are really really hungry it will hit the spot but Colombian food is notoriously bland to us gringos. If you want to try it what you want to look for if you are looking for typical Colombian food is basically a sign that say its typical food but will say "typical dishes" in Spanish is "Platos Tipicos" this is mostly grilled meats and rice dishes with chicken, fried fish or whatever, coconut rice is a favorite. Bandeja Paisa is the national dish. I have eaten it just to try it out but not something I am in a hurry to eat again, though I imagine if one was really really hungry it would be very satisfying. I will post a photo below, the meat is grilled skirt steak and sausage, the beans are like red beans, the thing that looks like its notched and cut in section is bacon that is mostly fat, the bread is arepa which is similar to a cross between a corn tortilla and American corn bread (there used to be a walk up place on the main drag of Bocagrande that served stuffed arepas, ground meat and spices with cheese. Those arepas are good late at night when you have a drinking buzz on)..

Now ya see, that's why this Place should rename into The Experienced Travelers Corner. Far more informative than you would get on some shill blog or website, neh?
