Avianca just cancelled some international flights for September, until I think the 15th of October citing a lack of protocols. Better check the web page if your affected.

On the Avianca web site:

"Although government authorities have already mentioned a tentative date for restarting international operations from Colombia, some necessary definitions for the operation remain uncertain, such as the lack of clarity in the protocols and sanitary measures for this type of flight.

For this reason, we have been forced to cancel some itineraries. If you have a flight that has been affected by this situation, we offer you these options.

Did a search on Spirit and Viva Air for a friend and look what I found. Yes, a ticket. You did not get the last one from Miami to Medellin on Viva Air on the 19th!

I brought the last ticket on Viva from Miami to Medellin on the 19th base on this post alone. I hope this pans out, if it doesn't, no big deal, I have tickets on the 21st, 23rd and 24th from FLL to Cartagena. Thanks for posting this timely information.

At the 5:30 mark they talk about requirement for flights from the United States. My spanish is okay, but not great, I *think* he says that they are not going to require negative covid tests before boarding flights from the US to Colombia, but they are awaiting final list of countries from which they will require tests. Please correct me if I misunderstood something.

So looks like good news overall.

I have my flight for Oct 5th and my amiga from Bogota will be there with me, since Bogota is still closed.

My novia has a 10 visa and is flying Avianca Bog. To Ctg and on to Mia via American Airlines. I booked her round trip from bog to ctg a few days ago. Apparently there is a large desire to take advantage of Ctg. Being the first city to offer international flights. And flights are getting more expensive by the day. What is normally a flight for less that $50 is now over $100 and higher. Plus the schedules are no where near the choices we had prior to the virus. Flights were pretty much every hour on the hour and dirt cheap. Not anymore, just another casualty of this freaken virus.

Yes, he did said that people in the US do not need to take a test before departing the US.

However, he did say something about if people arrive and are positive, then they have do go into quarantine.

His accent was trash, and I didn't catch, whether or not he said, people from US, will get tested upon arrival.

International flights in Colombia would be reactivated on September 21.

Likewise, he informed that at the end of last week the beach protocol that is to be reactivated in a pilot plan was ready, which includes two specific beaches: Bocagrande and Playa Azul La Boquilla.

Dau Chamat assured that in both the protocols of distancing, time control will be fulfilled and warned that, "what we do not want is to return to how the beaches were before, the bathers besieged by the vendors, to avoid this, what we will have will be zones special places where beach visitors can come to purchase the specific products or services they require."

The US will be getting rid of Covid testing for international arrivals, but individual states can still impose quarantines on anyone arriving into the state regardless if country of origin. That will be enough for yes a bilateral agreement that is in the works right now.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the states". In any case, whether you are referring to the United States, to Colombia, or any other country, the bilateral agreement would cover departures and arrivals between Colombia and another country, including the so-called "biosecurity measures". Those measures may or may not include quarantines. In spite of very definitive statements on this website and others, no such measures have been announced by the Colombian government. That may yet happen but it has not happened yet. I appreciate that it is frustrating and tedious to deal with facts but in the end it saves inconvenience and further frustration. I speculate as much as anyone but I make a point to say I am speculating when I don't know the facts.

I am comparing what happened in Mexico with Corona with what it was like before. In the past, I would have hotel concierges bring women to my room in the past. Now, those same hotels have freaked out with Covid. Comparing what is going on in Thailand now with what is going on now in Mexico and what will be happening in Colombia is apples to oranges.

I have no clue what the CTG apartment scene is like, but I know in Mexico, bringing in a woman not on the guest list in multiple hotels was not allowed and before Covid it was. Hotels are tracking people, and I would think that the government will force them to. Maybe you can get by seeing some multiple women with some cheaper ones where the women do not pass the front desk.

As for the VAT, I have never paid it when I have had a Colombian guest in a hotel. Maybe it was just lucky, but I have not had to.

Sure, visitors and guests as opposite to registered guests like yourself and your girlfriend or spouse, that's all we want. As for CDMX you are welcome to post in the relevant section if you know night time freelance venues (bars, clubs, discos, whatever), as I don't know much.

You can try muscle your way into Medellin thread just to see how promptly other BM are going to react. You have been asked to share information about apartments but you refused. Instead you tried to question if other BM has even been to the city, all without any merit. This Super Bowl I was at the Hilton, El Laguito. If you think all visitors should stay at Palmetto or similar buildings only and never step outside imaginary tourist boundary, you're just plain wrong, there are much more to the city.

Don't forget the VAT or IVA issue; if she a Colombian (in most cases) or a person with a visa of a particular kind, you have to pay the hotel tax. I understand the idea well, why not to sample all the best hotels in the city night by night, and bring in a guest for the night, register her, right? Sounds nice, but as I posted, a time gap and a tax, and you have to pack and unpack, and eventually it raises all kinds of questions with authorities.
