Staying in a dorm-style hostel for my trip there next week. However, it appears most of the reports here mention that the clock tower girls come to your room? Since my current accommodations are not private, do the girls at the clock tower generally have their own hotel rooms close by? Or will I be forced to rent someplace else?

Great report, glad you had fun. I have two questions. First question: where did you find Bourbon? Do you call all whiskey bourbon? I am originally from Kentucky and I look for bourbon everywhere I go. Did not see any in Colombia. Did not do a thorough search either. Nothing personal if you call whiskey bourbon but I am curious. The second question; did the building you stayed in have the initials HD?

I brought some bourbon from the states (travel ones for the plane). I usually drink Ron Medellin 12 in Colombia. Nena drank all the mini bottles and we ended up buying 2 bottles of Buchanan's and Nena went through most of it. I stayed in Bocagrande in initials PB. Right in front of the beach.

To be honest, curiosity after ISG made me searching for it at Lleras. Then, I have looked at it from outside <g , but I really never liked the girls I have seen going inside or coming outside. Not my cup of leche.

During the year I was in Medellin, I went to Gusto once. I'd been heading through Parque Lleras on my way to grab a bus home and some guys I'd just met wanted to have a drink, then another.

After 3 drinks, 1 guy drags us into Gusto, because he knows everyone there. It was true. He was buddies with every bartender, waitress and bouncer. I had a great time for 3 reasons.

1. That guy was crazy. He was everywhere doing everything. He ended up spending $750 in there and I didn't spend any. Not even a cover charge.

2. The other guy was much calmer and a good guy to talk with.

3. Because of the 1 guy, we were treated like VIPs. Everyone on the staff was constantly checking on us to make sure we were having a good time and the working girls weren't pushy.

I'd originally been headed home at 6 pm and didn't get there until 7:30 am (we ended up at Club Fahrenheit). Not the kind of night I wanted to repeat, but I enjoyed it.

However, there's at least 100 other dance clubs in Medellin and you can find girls willing to earn some extra money in any of them. You'll spend less for everything too. There's at least 100 regular options as well, between casas, strip clubs, girl bars and private apartments being run like brothels. Then there's the Facebook scene.

I can't say that Medellin is better than Cartagena, although I expect it's better for me. I like to spend the day walking, 10 miles or more. Cartagena is too hot for me to enjoy that. I also like to end my night by 10 or 11. That seems to be when Cartagena gets started.

For some guys Cartagena is perfect. Everyone just needs to do their research and pick the destination that best suits them. Unfortunately, it seems most guys base their decision on one report, or one girl.

Good for you. I see many reports where a guy has a bad session, and he just continues on. I feel two things are important when mongering. They are time, and leche. Most of the time your trip is not of a long duration so why waste your time, and leche on a bad choice you have made. Concerning the leche part when I was 20 years old that was not a consideration, but those days are long gone.

Here we can read anything and its contrary, but assimilating Medellin with Gusto is illogical. Gusto is ONE place in Medellin, not really representative of Medellin, and even not advisable in the opinion of the majority who write here.

Overall, Medellin is much cheaper than Cartagena (hotels, restaurants, girls)...

Equating Gusto with Medellin is just nuts. I have taken 20+ trips to Medellin and I have yet to set foot in that club. Medellin has so much to offer, besides Gusto.

Cartagena was an amazing city of fantasies and illusions. I am in my early forties, Hispanic with good Spanish (conversational), with knowledge of Colombia (been to Medellin a few times). I did my research prior to going (thanks board) and even did Tinder (my opinion on that later). Even with all this preparations, I still made some miscues and mistakes that I learned some lessons if I would return. But overall, I had a great time and would probably repeat (though probably a shorter weekend trip).

Day One Wednesday.

I booked the trip for about a week (September 18-24) arriving wed and leaving the following Tuesday. This was my first solo trip (been with friends before). I was contacting women on Tinder getting ready for my arrival. A 6 am flight out of NYC and layover in fort Lauderdale. On the second leg of the trip, I made friends with a pilot who decided on a whim to jump on board and check out Cartagena. He has never been to Colombia at all and didn't even have a hotel lined up. I tried to rest a bit before going out knowing that the fun don't kick off until after 11 pm but this pilot was WhatsApping me and giving me updates about drinking and the girls are hot. So I napped about an hour before getting ready. Day 6 (Monday).

The trip is about an hour and pur driver was knowledgeable about where to go. We arrive and we got to a restaurant on the beach to rent chairs and beers. Our taxi driver talks to do and helps us get a speedboat to tour the islands. We get on board and go tour a few of the islands and check out Cholon. Cholon was OK (it was Monday afternoon.) My girl and I are just enjoying the views and each other (unfortunately to many people around for some island sex). We make it back have lunch and enjoy the beach. We head back and end up at the apartment. We start making up for the day, and start our party. Cartagena was a lot of fun. Everything is located close and very easy to find whatever your looking for. The Venezuelans I found more willing to do more than the Colombians (some a harden pros) but YMMV. With the clocktower and LDVs always rocking, you really don't need Tinder (though I found Andreina that way). A better way I think is just get all the girls number and contact them during the day. Friday and Saturday are prime time nights so might end up paying a bit more those nights (though I didn't negotiate Saturday with Nena and I am ok with that). I could of avoided a few situations but you live and learn. Depending on how had you like to party, a week might be good or an extended weekend might be better. I need to check out Cholon on a Friday or Saturday. Cartagena is definitely more expensive than Medellin but I knew that going in (still far cheaper than NYC and even CR). I do like that fact that you party at your own place and can set the atmosphere the way you like it vs a Casa or strip club. But Cartagena is also definitely a tropical party atmosphere vs Medellin which is metropolitan. Also unfortunately, even though I was staying in front of playa Hollywood, I didn't partake which next I would try ay least one. I would do Cartagena given the opportunity again.

Without a doubt CTG fits your needs. There are two main clubs { Space, La dolce Vita } perfect for what you want. Also a bonus for you is the clock tower action. As far as you like warm weather then CTG fits the bill.
