Thanks guys. I do look at past posts. But let's face it, our beloved site has not seen any change in 20 years; the site's antique design is not conducive to finding information. Sometimes I am discouraged to write reports myself because I know after maybe a few days it will be buried in a hundred-pages-long thread and never be seen again.

But still I write my reports, and respond to any questions I chance upon when I visit, because for the locations I am familiar with, it takes seconds to send a fellow tourist in the right direction.

For HK I can tell you to check www.******.com, or go roam around Temple Street late in the evening. Expect 5-600 HKD a pop.

For Singapore I can tell you to go to Geylang's even-numbered streets and promoters will drag you into their shops. 80-100 SGD for Chinese and less for other ethnicities.

For Jakarta I can tell you just walk into Classic Hotel levels 2 and 5. Going rate is 365000 IDR + tips.

For China I can tell you the country is in a 6-year long enforcement so everything is going underground.

For Taiwan I can tell you it's overpriced.

For Pattaya I can tell you no preparation is needed.

These take me seconds to share. In the same amount of words I tell someone to read past reports, I can give something more useful. Choice is clear.

I write longer reports because it's like a trip diary to me. Years later I can still recall my trips reading my own posts. It's not in response to anyone asking me to share info; nor do I care whether readers have done their homework. These are precious memories and trophies to show off; to me, the more people see my report the merrier. I am newly interested in the South American region, attracted to what seems to be a very open and casual mongering atmosphere. My understanding is there is no need to worry about LE there since it is legal. And society seems quite open to this type of thing. I have been watching videos about the region extensively on YouTube. Good info, but of course, most don't get into the vital details. Hope the subject matter experts can fill in the blanks.

So, I get off the plane; take a taxi to my small hotel; check in.

Then what? Where do I go? Whom do I look for? What do I do? What can I expect? When do I pay? How much to pay?

I've literally read this forum backwards and forwards. Read to about page 200 and making my way back now. I'm at page 121.

It's an incredible amount of information being shared. I've made lists, copied certain paragraphs and saved links to reports that provided a great overview or nuggets of specific information that might be handy.

I've also messaged a few members and they were more than helpful. I think if you show some effort, it makes members want to help. You can come across as extremely lazy if not entitled, by asking someone to basically hold your hand.

What's weird is that you hardly ever hear back from these people and there never seems to be a trip report. Talk about all take and no give. Do some of these people even wind up traveling to that destination? I'm beginning to doubt it.

By definition a subject matter expert already has good knowledge in his head. It's not difficult to give a simple but complete guide (for me anyway).

I am going to help you guys out but try to understand no one is being rude to you. The forum is set up for give and take, that is the ethos, its not like there isn't free information to be found here but even at the public library I cannot just walk up and say give me ten pagers on the life and death of Genghis Khan I have to swim into the books and journal and do research. What you guys are asking about is usually something that would be found in a thread called "Reports of Distinction" but to be honest there has not been a report of distinction for Cartagena posted in there in years. Though someone will from time to time post a thorough report about their adventure in Cartagena it goes against the ethos of this board to do so on demand, if people do this from time to time it is out of the kindness of their heart but it is not the norm. Right on the from page of the Forum there are a list of abbreviations among which is found RTFF Read The Fucking Forum, when many readers are responded to this way they seem to get offended but its not personal. But there is a reason the webmaster/administrator put the abbreviation there, it is part of the ethos, so to speak.

My building had security 24/7 and I like that. Keeps the chicas on their best behavior knowing that their ID's and pictures have been recorded. The security guys actually assisted me in handing the chicas a few times as far as letting them up or not at my request. They were totally cool and were looking out for me.

I am staying at the Hilton but I want to book an inexpensive Airbnb. I messaged a few today and they said guests were fine.

Same here, I guess I got lucky also. I was at an apartment in bocagrande about a month ago, I was allowed unlimited guests. At night there would be a guy guarding the door, that 's the only time guests would have to show ID.

That meant I could register up to 3 girls for overnight stays and any others for visits till 4 am. It was a very nice condo. They had to show ID and get their picture taken but that was no problem. Things have likely changed for the worse since C19.

That is a negative. Hed have a better chance in El Laquito. Every single condo I reached out to in Bocagrande on Airbnb, allowed no visitors outside of registered guest from the beginning of the stay. Even El Laquito takes some effort.

Wow Since they started requiring the PCR test for foreigners; I have noticed the Airbnb owners have been more Lenient than prior months. I've been getting more prior approval as long as there's no parties.

All of the information about hotel guest policies is on the Cartegena map and it has been updated recently. So if you waste your time trying to reach out to all these different hotels and airbnbs that your own fault.

Many of the hotels in Boca grande will allow you to register extra guests it just depends on what's your arrangement is with whoever you're booking but I specifically went to the palmetto elliptic and ask them about this guests are allowed but they have to be registered that includes chicas which are specifically mentioned.
