According to the girl I met yesterday night at Reloy, who works there, at LDV there is a minimum charge of 100 k drinks for those who grab a girl. I remember I read here about 80 k before. It must be the new location thing.

Please note that I was NEVER asked to pay that minimum amount by the waiters the few times I took a girl from LDV. Certainly, when I am there I am not a stingy one, I drink one cocktail minimum and I offer it to say minimum a couple of girls, and I leave tips to waiters, but the key thing is that I always set a meeting somewhere with my girl about half an hour later. <g .

Yesterday I have seen one of the worst pages ever. It seems that the Alcalde decided to make Cartagena a better place for tourists and those who voted for him happy. So what? More cleaners around the streets? More security at night out of the walls? Less drugs? Less touts and sellers on the beach? NO. Now all bars must close at 2 am even on Saturday.

You know, there is a lot of people, also in Colombia, who think that the best way to spend the Saturday is at home in front of TV. The Alcalde wants everyone adopt this lifestyle, including the tourists who come here and spend a lot of money to sustaing the local economy.

So, at 2 am, a huge force of Policia Metropolitana, some officers with red jacket, professional photo operators (local press? Police agents?) moved compact to fight the vice and the crime. No, they did not look for pandilleros, but they went to Space to enforce the closing. Drama with the manager complaining strongly, the photo operators grabbing the scene and the customers, et cetera et cetera (fu*cking autocorrector, I must write it complete to avoid the mess and the need to re-edit my text).

I think that yesterday the boss of Space omitted to pay his bribe to someone, because the Tu Candela was open till after 4 am instead (front door closed, but vibrating because of the music inside, back door open, usual 10 k cover). WTF. What's the purpose to close bars at 2 am on Saturday?? To make the Centro silent and lonely like years ago, when it was a dangeros place?

My sources told me this new closing time was implemented because Space and VIP were not sticking to the 4 AM closing time. I don't agree with them penalizing everyone over it, but as usual a few ruin it for the many.

You succeeded with something nearly impossible. Out of the arrivals of the CTG airport, all people is sent to the left, to a window where a girl issues coupons specifying the fee for taxi rides. One says the destination and the girl gives the coupon. For Laguito / Bocagrande, the fee is 18 k. I always leave 20 k including a small tip.

Airport:

The airport in Cartagena is small. There was no ATM that I could find. But there was a place to exchange money, so I exchanged enough for the taxi and one night on the town. Taxi was 18 K to the apartment, and 20 K when I returned.

That's interesting. My chica / novia / working girl went with me and we didn't pay a cover charge Saturday night. Place was packed with couples. If there were any working girls it wasn't obvious at all. I wouldn't go to Tu Candela for hookers. I'd take a hooker there if you wanted to do some reggaeton. Seeing as its right in front of the clock tower I see no reason for hookers to sit in there in the first place.

What a scene! Every night there were freelancers all over the place. The girls were asking for 100/150/200 K per hour. Many of the girls were hot, some were just scary. I pulled four girls from the place and all were a blast in the apartment. The girls are happy if you buy them a beer and sit and chat about future wedding plans and such.

Hahaha, yes. Most of those freelancers are awesome. Beats the scene in Medellin big time IMHO. They're just out and about waiting to get fucked. Some real hotties too.

Logistics:

Flight:

I flew United round trip from San Diego for $980 and some change. Last trip, I flew through Panama each way. But this trip I flew into Bogota, and had to transfer to an Avianca flight. A week before I left, I had a 1. 5 hour layover, which was fine with me. But the day before I left, fucking Avianca cut my layover to only 45 minutes. Having to go through immigration and customs, and walking around that long ass airport, there was no way I could make the damn connection! Pinche Avianca ended up putting me in a crappy hotel that served crappy food to boot; thus, I lost one night in Cartagena!

Airport:

The airport in Cartagena is small. There was no ATM that I could find. But there was a place to exchange money, so I exchanged enough for the taxi and one night on the town. Taxi was 18 K to the apartment, and 20 K when I returned.

Money:

The currency in Cartagena is Pesos. The airport rate sucked, but I was in need for the day. The exchange place I used in town was 2770 pesos to one dollar. Passport was required! When I ran out of dollars / pesos, I abused the ATMs nearby my apartment.

Apartment / Juan:

Once again, I stayed at one of Juan's rental apartments. It was a big 2 bedroom located on the beach in El Laguito for $85 per night. I had a large balcony overlooking the pool and beach / ocean. Apartment was equipped with WiFi, wide screen TV, A / see in each room, and 24 hour security. Security check the IDs of all the girls and logged their information in a ledger. There was housekeeper service available, but I did not need the service.

I will tell you one thing, Juan and his sidekick, Adolfo, are one class act. Every e-mail was answered quickly, and everything went smoothly with the apartment. The porteros at the apartment were also great!

Communication:

Because I have the T-Mobile North American plan, life was quite easy. My plan gave me unlimited data at 2 G speed, calls at 20 cents per minute, and free texts. Thus, I started using WhatsApp on my regular phone. I started chatting with chicas before I left. As long as I had a WiFi signal, WhatsApp was free of charge. I was chatting on WhatsApp, Facebook, and Skype; including video calls for no charge whatsoever.

Transportation:

Taxis were always available and quite cheap; 6, 7, and 8 K were the norm around town.

Safety:

I felt completely safe walking around the various areas I visited. Cartagena is the tourist capital of Colombia. On the weekend, many families poured into town from all over Colombia.

Food:

I ate several restaurants; here are my thoughts:

Arepas Pues. Excellent.
Intriga Tropical. Very good.
Conde de la Cruz. Sucked.
Paco's. Sucked.
Riquisimo BBQ. Was good last trip, but the place went downhill.
Anaflecha. Good late night drunk food.
Street food in the Walled City. Excellent.

BTW, there was Subway in the Walled City; oh the shame!

The Beach:

Playa Hollywood had a very mixed crowd. When facing the ocean, the gay section is on the left, and all others are to the right. I read and noted a lot about the beach in advance. BUT, I still had issues with some of the beach venders. Some, would not take no for a answer. I had this conversation a few time:

Vendor: Doesn't leave.
Me: No gracias.
Vendor: Doesn't leave.
Me: Hablas espaol?
Vendor: Si.
Me: No quiero nada de nadie!
Vendor: Finally moves on.

I sat in Fao's section, the section next to Fat Tony's. Yes, Fat Tony is still a pest and is always begging for a beer; fuck him! Fao's wife, Emily gives killer massages and I had one each day that I was there! Because of the rainy weather, I only had three beach days and they were enjoyable for the most part. There were a good amount of freelancers on the beach, but I did not partake even though I spoke to a few of them. All and all, Fao and Emily are hard working honest folks and I highly recommend them to anyone that visits Playa Hollywood.

Comments: This place has moved into the walled city, same street as ISIS. Depending on the time, will depend of the number of girls. I was there almost every night at around 10:30; 5-8 women. On Friday, I was there around 12:30, 30+ women!

Just inside the Clock Tower:

What a scene! Every night there were freelancers all over the place. The girls were asking for 100/150/200 K per hour. Many of the girls were hot, some were just scary. I pulled four girls from the place and all were a blast in the apartment. The girls are happy if you buy them a beer and sit and chat about future wedding plans and such.

Cupid Girls. I had three lined up to meet, two were a no show, one showed but wasn't worth my time or effort; I kicked her ass to the curb, and then picked up a hottie inside the clock tower.

Tinder. The women on Tinder that are in for the money are easily identified. In their profile, they describe themselves as "scort" or "dama de compaia. " I was in contact with several during my trip, but nothing ever panned out. Either they were too busy or wanted too much money, thus, I did not think it was worth the effort or hassle. But, I urge others to give it a try. Some others have had success with Tinder, maybe I was just too fucking lazy to follow through.

Conclusion:

Cartagena had a lot more to offer, I barely scratched the surface of clubs and the girls. I did have a great time and I will return someday, when, not sure. I feel that knowing some Spanish is a must because many of these girls speak no English. At times, I felt challenged with the Spanish that I know. I felt completely safe throughout the entire trip. Yes, the place is a tad expensive compared to other monger destinations, but I just had to return and explore the city more; glad I did!

Viva charges 10 k per bag. I think the limit is 2 and the baggage sizes are smaller than normal so make sure your bag will fit otherwise they will hit you with overages.

I've looked at their calendar for December, January and February. Almost every flight has a stop over of over one day in Bogota except for a few days. That's to Medellin and Cartagena.

So, fly to Bogota on the cheapest flight and catch a flight Bogota to Cartagena for $30- $50. Latam is probably the cheapest close to Christmas.

Or, if you're thinking of taking your new novia someplace special bring her up to Manizales or meet her in Medellin and fly out to Nuqui. As a bonus, both are probably cheaper than Cartagena.

Of course, if you're hunting for a fresh piece, neither of those places are a good destination, but if you want to make an impression.

For December their one way prices from Cartagena to Medellin run from 60 k to 143 k pesos, except one day where the price is 350 k. Most days are between 70 k and 113 k.

I have seen them advertise round trip (nonstop) between Cartagena and Medellin for the equivalent of $50 (US). No advance purchase required. They do have a web site so you can book online. I think they fly to states (Miami). Just FYI.

I think you were sarcastically pointing out sticking to one provider was a bit against the point of this hobby, and I agree, but I hate using condoms and this is the safest route.

100% right. The last one drove me a bit over the wall when she wanted to quit her prepago job and go straight. She had every opportunity to just get a regular job and enough support from her wealthy family to do so. Instead she fucked it up, and my hopes of her becoming a regular girlfriend quickly vanished.
