Does anyone know if there is a good map of Cartagena available such as the one that Moondog put together for BsAs? I found a decent one, but of course there are not any P4P places marked on the map.

Ngp has it right on. I have never seen a massage parlor in CTG. Casas are the closest thing. They have back rooms for play or you can take-out(for a fee to the house). Pleyboy is about the best, but it is too pricey for me. Others open and close with regularity. Ask any cabbie. I haven't been to a casa in over two years.

Actually the CDC recommends that you take malaria meds while visiting Cartagena. However, there is no danger of malaria in the city. I live in CTG and do not take malaria meds. If you plan to go out into the wild areas, you should take the meds.

I would like to know if the people that goes to Carthagena take medicine to protect against malaria?

You could always check the CDC web site and see what they recommend, but I would advise against taking Larium or any other Malaria prophylactics due to the possibility of bad side effects. Larium and other malaria prophylactics do not prevent malaria; they only lessen the effects of the condition, should you contract it.

Unless you plan on going into the jungle, I personally think it would be a waste of your money and if you do plan on going into the jungle, I would be worried about other things besides malaria.

relax Volpone....there is NO Malaria in Cartagena.

Only in the jungle area.(but if i am correct you should NOT go there....!)...and even then it is NOT the worst form of malaria.
If you rub your skin with repellent and have long pants and long slieves you should be OK. Also a good thing is not to put on too much after shave in the evening.

HOWEVER......dengue might be an issue. (i have seen civil servants from the city spraying repellant during the day against the dengue muskito)

Previously I would get irritated by them and say no moleste right away.

I have found the best way of dealing with the touts is to carry a portable CD player with headphones, wear sunglasses, and look the other way, ignoring them. Once you acknowledge them they will continue, even if you say NO. Usually then you must say NO MOLESTE in a rude tone of voice to get them off your trail.

Sometimes they still reply, ITS MY JOB or THIS IS NOT YOUR COUNTRY.

however it is my money and I have the last say.

Usually taxi drivers are the most rude because they will honk their horn at you when they see you walking along the sidewalk. They usually try to overcharge you in Laguito or Boca Grande, so ask the price before you get in the taxi and do not tip. It is not expected.

It is better to have the poverty, because the girls are alot cheaper, and also you can find a beauty on the streets renting herself for an hour.

This morning I found a 22 year old beauty, no kids, no stretch marks, sitting near the Hilton for 60,000 pesos for one hour. 9.5 rating for body, 9 for performance, 7 or 8 for face. Nice hard tits and ass. No attitdue, she knew exactly how to please. In the states it would be $400 for an hour and she would have her own website.

We have the same problems down here in Lima. I ususally give to the 80 year old women and will buy a piece of pizza or whatever else is convienient for a five year old girl. However If you are a teenage/20/30 girl with a child it ain't gonna happen,a boy/teenager/man you have to provide a service or entertain me. I was driving through Plaza Grau today and as I was trying to tell a youngster that I did not want my windshied washed for the 5th time today, out of the corner of my eye 3 16y/o boys were doing flips/handsprings and a full gainer across the intersection in front of me. Needless to say good street performers get my money every time as I consider them a tourist asset.

What goverments and NGO's should do is open up a branch of Barnum and Baily's circus school in every country of Latin America and let them entertain the tourists.

Actually the real reason I am responding to your post:

Two buddies of mine from N.Y.C went down to P.R. for a weekend with these two hookers they flew in from Vegas. They got them from their website (scarlettletter) or something. Anyway they get 300/hr or 3500 for a weekend.
