I just expected twice lower price for Colombia but it seems my expectations were quite far from the reality.

I did that few weeks ago in Indonesia, and few other countries before that. Now planing the same thing for Colombia and Kenya. Please keep up with the good reports, they are very helpful for people like me who share the same. Trip plans and ideas, if I may say so.

I'm planning my next trip and thinking to do the Manilla, Bogota, Cartagena tour. I got Tinder plus so decide to check the market at Cartagena and I'm pretty surprised. I asked them about the whole night price and the chicas wants something between 400 and 800 k. Well, I have traveled 7-8 countries in Europe and Asia and honestly only the high end China escorts wants that kind of money. I found it pretty ridiculous giving the fact that the girls market is really crowded and to that you can add the Venezuela chicas that are coming and coming. You can expect lower prices and ready to negotiate girls but the fact is that these crazy chicas wants ridiculous money and are not willing to lower the price. I guess they see the Tinder guys as stupid newcomers that can be converted to ATMs. It seems I need different approach, Tinder is not giving good results in Cartagena.

Unless you're 48 hours away from arrival, you're wasting your time trying to set something up. These girls are well aware that out of every 10 guys telling them they'll be visiting soon, only 2 ever arrive.

The experienced monger knows that one should never start requesting TLN, but start with one shot, at minimum price, then add tips and a top-up if TLN sounds good, once you have tried chemistry.

Those girls seem to know all that too, as they have requested those incredible prices. Pretty obvious. They do not know you, you do not know them, so why one should commit for a whole night? They are trying to catch a big fish with big pockets. 150 k-200 k is for one hour. If there is chemistry and she likes you, she might stay sleeping for more, but never more than twice as that.

Mirador de Laguito, so far it's excellent I would recommend other members look for it. Nice view from balcony, very modern, a bit pricey but it was supposed to been split between a friend and I it's 2 bedrooms. But not much more expensive than say if you were to stay in the Hilton which is close BTW.

If you are a gringo, you confidently can walk right in to the Hilton Hotel lobby, use their pool, jacuzzi and exercise room. Except for a blue towel at the pool, you need to give a room number to get a towel.

Have never been questioned and rarely been checked in the exercise room entrance. Same for Dann Carlton hotels, never have been questioned.

You may be charged extra by the cab drivers if you are a gringo, but being a gringo does have some benefits of racial profiling when you walk into expensive hotels.

Landed in CTG and everything smooth as hell for far. Fast out of immigration, the Airbnb host hooked up a cab I know there are tons but wanted to use this one bcuz I knew he would know exactly where the building was and since I don't know shit figured it would be a good idea. Cost 30.000 cop maybe a bit more than what I seen but not a big deal. Checked in the Airbnb and I'm seeing what looks like prepagos walking in like they stay here the place is Mirador de Laguito, so far it's excellent I would recommend other members look for it. I just visited your fine city. Just sharing some things from my experience.

Holy cow on the clock tower. A lot of the girls there look like theyre straight out of a magazine. Beautiful, and dozens to choose from.

Most of the girls are asking for 200 k pesos, or less than $70 US, but I found that most will negotiate a bit. But ask for a tip at the end.

The chicas know where the hourly hotels are. But just know they quote 50 k regardless of where they are going to take you.

I stayed at the NH hotel right in front of the clock tower and was pleasantly surprised they had hot water LOL. Not chica friendly though. I'll be going next week but will be staying in an apartment on H2 building.

I don't understand what is all this fuss about.

In Cartagena along the past 10-12 years I have stayed in 2 different 3-star hotels, one in Bocagrande and one near San Diego in centro, and they both had hot water.
In the last 5-10 years (sorry I cannot be more specific as I do not remember dates; time flies) I have always stayed in apartments in Laguito, not luxurious penthouses but normal apartments, and they all had hot water. The same was found by two friends of mine, who stayed in a 4-star hotel in Bocagrande and in an apartment in Laguito, respectively.
I did not find hot water in the shower, only in those cheap hotels in centro, where rooms are rented by the hour for 20k or less (guess why I was there).

I may only think that those who do not find hot water are probably staying in cheap low-category places.
(or in my apartments in Laguito I was actually using the water warmed up by the sun day time along the long pipes)

I have been to Cartagena maybe 10 x in the last two years. I normally make it a buffer before heading to Medellin for the weekend. I've stayed in Air BNBs and Hotels. Bocagrande and the old city. The water in the pipes have never come out at 95 degrees. Hahaha. Now I agree with most the days are so hot that a cold shower is not the worst. But let's be real here. Most apartments are air conditioned. If you are staying in a decently renovated apartment or hotel here you will most likely have your AC on full blast. After returning from the hot day walking into a cool apartment is a must for comfort. That bring said your body will adjust to the air in the apartment within seconds. This negates that comfortable cool shower that everyone imagines. Yes maybe if you do not have AC the cold shower provides relief. But for the average traveler you will hate, and I mean hate the shower. You'll literally be washing one body part at a time. Hahaha. Most apartments have cool showers. Colder than room temperature do expect to get in and out rather quickly. Heated showers are hit or miss in CTG and when you find them, you will appreciate them. Expect cold showers everywhere and if you get lucky with a decently warm one be very happy.

No. Don't "walk" blocks away. It's 25 k to get to Bocagrande. That's about 8 USD. So you're going to save 2 bucks by walking several blocks away hauling your luggage?

Couldn't agree more. Rather you are 2 blocks away or at the terminal "You are a tourist still". The potential to get upcharged is still there. I have actually did the 2 block walk once and got the exact same price that you was offered when walking through the doors with my luggage. All the taxi guys know the prices. They know what they can get away with. And they also know that they must take what they can get with a minimum number in their head. The trick is to get that minimum number just like they want the maximum number you have in your head. Walk out to the main areas where all the taxis are lined up. Negotiate a price and go. Remember you are on vacation. If you are worried about saving 75 cents to a dollar by walking two blocks then I feel for ya. Best advice I can give is make sure they quote you in pesos!! I had one guy say 20. He purposely said 20 because he wasn't sure if I was going to give him 20 dollars or pesos. When I replied with pesos he smiled and said OK let's go no problem. I passed on him and got in a regular taxi with the prices set. He followed me begging and negotiating all the way until I got to a regular taxi. The guys 2 blocks away could be just as tricky.

Two different views around clock tower. One says all are ugly and old. Other says girls are out of a magazine beautiful. What believe. Planning my first trip there and staying a week. If none to my liking rent a car and drive along the coast to enjoy the sights.

Weather you like CTG or not { I love the place }. It sounds like a great idea to drive along the coast. You will see BAQ, and Santa Marta. Each place has good things to partake in.
