Good report, you're right on the scene but I still like going to LDV having a girl or a few dance and then bouncing around 2-3. On the weekends I did just end up getting a girl from there and going to an actual club because you couldn't stand without rubbing shoulders.

Not many people there speak English even in tourist town like CTG. If you don't speak Spanish, you have to rely on your translate app, and it's not uncommon to be passing back and forth your phone to chicas to communicate that way. Just pick up a few basic Spanish words like Aqui (pronounced as A-Ki which means Here), ahi (there), cuanto (pronounced as kuan-to which means How much), or Mamada sin preservativo (BBBJ).

Use this approach as I have learned from other members here. I didn't speak any spanish when I went and I had a great time. Google translate is a must, download the language pack so you don't need wifi. Regarding your Verizon phone. I have a J7 2017 and it's unlocked and dual mode. I called Verizon and they said I can either use my phone using either their international pass-through program for $10 a day fee or I could get a SIM card from a local carrier like Cairo.

Been a while since the post but I will reply just so the information is on the board for others.

My phone is not unlocked so I use the $10 a day deal when I need it. I leave my phone on airplane mode most of the time and every few days I go out of airplane mode to check my text messages or make calls back to the states that I can't call using the what's app. Usually business calls to a landline that doesn't have what's app.

If you have an unlocked phone, the sim card is the better option. Would be much cheaper than $10 a day if you use the phone more than a day or two.

Most phones from the USA are provider specific and are hard to get unlocked. The places selling the sim cards all say they can unlock them but I just never thought it worth the risk to let them fuck with my phone.

Try the card, if it works your good to go. If it fails, you always have the international plan to fall back on as a back up. Just log in to your Verizon account and set the international play to the daily. It will only charge you if you use the service. You got 24 hours from the first time use to avoid another charge for the next day. They will text message you that the 24 hours is starting and also when it is ending.

Please pardon my ignorance. I am going to Cartagena in late August for a conference (my first time in Colombia; I have been to Brazil a number of times). This event will be held at the Hotel Caribe where I (and everyone else) will be staying.

I see that it is very close to Playa Hollywood, so that is convenient. But I was wondering about the hotel's policy on bringing chicas (from Playa Hollywood or wherever) back to my room, or if I should go to a motel, and if so, which is recommended.

I also read that LDV is a ripoff, so I shall avoid it, but what about Isis? Or any other clubs; due to the conference (and my getting older) I am not interesting in clubs at 0300 h.

Great story! I have a non mongering friend (or so he claims) in Cartagena right now and he takes that flight a couple of times a year with COPA from PTY to CTG. I used to book a room there for about $20 USD and then stay elsewhere in the old city avoiding the hassle of bringing in a guest, which most upstanding hotels in El Centro now frown upon. My friend who stays at the famous Hotel Santa Clara in a time share arrangement offered me his extra suite a few times and this hotel is impossibly strict about accepting non registered guests. But I used to skirt around it by using the Hotel del Sol for assignations. So devastating news, if the demise of this hotel is true.

This encounter was so unique in all my years that it would never likely to happen again. One does not simply by chance get seated next to a beautiful looking escort in a plane and as one thing leads to another ended up to an amazing experience. This was what exactly happened to me in this trip.
